? re: Loading with Fats

Has anyone tried loading with healthy fats, instead of ice cream, etc?

I was thinking of things like: flax seed, sunflower seeds, lecithin, avocado, maybe making some hummus and not worrying about how much tahini I use.

Any other suggestions for healthy fats?

I'm all about the healthy fats. I'd add almond butter, macadamia nuts, pistachios, and LOTS and LOTS of olives!! And guacamole!!

Oh, and for the record, I am not singular in that.

Yes, my first load for my first round was done low carb. I ate many great low carb items that were free of carbs and had the best round ever. I ate tons of coconut oil, eggs, butter, casseroles off of Linda Sue's site--the cheeseburger pie was wonderful!!!, lots of coffee with heavy whipping cream, my recipe of low carb chocolate cheesecake. I ate what I would miss in the first 3 weeks of P2--turkey, pork chops, salad dressing, that sort of thing. There is no need to do it with sugary, carby items. I did add those (ice cream and candy bars--yum!!) in my next round's load days just because I knew I could endulge!! Treats without guilt was awesome!! But my best round was the first where I only loaded on high fat low carb stuff. Good luck!!

Actually I made low carb ice cream for second day of loading (with truvia, no sugar).

But yes, mmm... love the fats for loading!

I also take a fancy cheese, cover with olive oil, salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon.

Dawn, what is Linda Sue's site?

That cheeseburger pie sounds wonderful!

Mmmmm...almond butter, love it!

And I should make some low carb cheesecake. I don't like to use Splenda anymore, tho. What artificial sweetener do you use?

I used to make some AWESOME protein/flax muffins, but the recipe called for 1 or 1 1/2 cups of Splenda. I need to find an alternative. Any suggestions?

Hi Ellenalesa. I'm not Dawn, but I have the link for you. Love Linda Sue's recipes -- I've probably tried 10 or more of them and they're all good!

Here is the link to what I cooked while loading, my whole family love it!!

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

And this one too:

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

Both are so yummy!!!

I use Splenda with no problems. But there are a bunch of alternatives out there. I am not fond of Stevia, but many low carbers love it. I also have heard of Truvia, Purevia, Ideal. But I would not know if they are one to one substitutions. You know, 1 cup of AS = 1 cup of sugar. You would have to read the package.
