Cream on P2?

During my first round, I didn't go anywhere near cream. But I'm sad to have 35 days of VLCD with nothing in my coffee or tea.

What do you guys have in your coffee or tea? I will absolutely not drink black coffee, but I can get by with just tea w/out cream or milk. But I want coffee! Is there any hope for coffee for me?

I'm a newb, but not unhappy with my loss so far. I use 1 T of FF half and half in my coffee daily. And I wouldn't be opposed to using 2 a day, because the calories are so low.

I drink my coffee black w/ Sweet 'n' Low. I had some regular half and half in the beginning and still lost, however, I'm following protocol so it's no cream for me and it's only for forty days.

I wouldn't use fat free half and half because it's got sugar in it.

The brand I am using has just trace amounts. Milk which is on protocol has some sugar as well. I just prefer the taste of the half and half.

I refuse to give up my coffee w/creamer, tried it before and am always miserable and that one thing more than anything else will make me give up so I drink my two cups of coffee with La Creme original creamer every morning. I don't measure it either.

I found something called Skim Half and Half, it's only 15 calories per 2TBS and has no fat. I'll 12 days in and I had some this morning. I will keep an eye on the scale.

hmm, do you mean the one tablespoon of milk? That wouldn't do anything for my coffee Other than that, I don't think it's on protocol, is it?

I refuse to give up my coffee too...I'm making mine iced, with the milk allotment and stevia vanilla cream drops. On my rare Starbucks occasions, I get a tall iced Americano (espresso + water), add a bit of H&H, and the mini-stevia drops I keep in my purse.

They taste similar to vanilla lattes...and from a girl who came from having a SB mocha/iced mocha EVERYDAY...that is a big accomplishment!

Had you used it before today?

Did you find that skim and half at the grocery store? During my first round, I was using coffeemate powder creamer and it's horrible as well.

The milk is, but the FF half and half? No. But protocol was written in the 50's and there are a lot of products available to us now, that they didn't have back then.

That said, I am by no means, encouraging anyone to go off of protocol. I'm just telling you what I have been doing. Today is Day 4 of R1 for me. I'm happy with the results so far.

haha! Good job!!! Do you order the stevia vanilla cream online? I think I looked it up a few days ago and it was pricey, no?

For every day use, I prefer Truvia. I remember buying the stevia extract powder and hated it terribly. Will the vanilla cream be any different?

I would be very interested in how he would have written the plan out today. I believe the Omaha plan doesn't even include milk.

Looking at the fact that we're trying to stay away from added fat and sugar, I would think that there may be some things similar to the fat/sugar in the milk on protocol we can use. Then, it goes back to if it works for you, then go with it. Until there's a stall of course

I got my vanilla cream at Whole Foods, but after finding out about the world of flavored sweeteners I went and ordered them online. They are pricey...but I would be paying so much more at Starbucks and just in food in general if I weren't on P2 right now...lol that's how I justify it. Plus it will last much longer.

I've never tried the powder, just the drops. There is a learning curve to see how much you can use before it gives off a bitter taste, so add a little at a time until it's sweet enough for you without the bitter taste.

Congrats!! I'm happy for you

I'm just trying to be very careful with this round 2. Based on others' experiences, I hear that you lose more weight on round 1 than any other rounds. I got away with a few things here and there on round 1 that I don't think will cut it this second time (b/c your body is smaller).

Let me see what the scale looks like tomorrow. I put 2 tablespoons of H+H in my coffee today and I'm praying it won't kill me. I think I'll have tea for the first week and see how it goes. My loading was a bummer and I don't feel good, lol. Trying to flush my system out!

I found my vanilla cream stevia at my Kroger!! And then the other flavors at my health food store. So you may be surprised what you can find local. The liquid is different than the powder because there is no fillers in the liquid so you get straight stevia. Therefore the bottle will last forever. I have bottles still around from when I started protocol 2 years ago I just ran out of the lemon drop stevia a few weeks ago. Bought that one 2 years ago.

As far as a yes or no answer....there is none. I have done a round with NO coffee at all and done well. I just did hot teas. I have done a round where I have included at least 3 cups of coffee a day, and I cannot have coffee black either so I used half and half in all cups and done well. Until P3 that is I do not know if the coffee interfered with my stabilization process in P3 or if it was my poor food choices in P3. Sadly, I will never know unless I do another round without coffee. That is my goal for next round (which will be in Aug)--do it with no coffee to see how well I can stabilize. That is my goal--not just the losing weight because I have done that. I want the end result to stick, and I think personally for me it will have to be with no coffee and no cream.

On P2 starting in week 2, I added half and half to my coffee with no problem.

I am R1P3D14 and I use half and half plus some sugar free syrup and I am having no problem staying within my range. I've had no correction days. I probably have 3 cups a day with the half and half and sugar free syrup. Of course, everyone is different so you just have to see what YOUR body will stand.

Yea, I did P3 and P4 with loads of H+H every day and I stabilized beautifully. I'm just worried about P2. I think I will hang tight with just tea for the first 5 days or so, and I'll see how it goes.
