Loading is not as easy as I thought!

>URP< I always thought I would love to stuff myself--it's a little harder than I though it would be. The Dr. told me to just keep stuffing. I have been giving it a heroic try--LOL! It seems like it will be a relief to NOT eat when I start the low cal on Friday.
(I know that won't last)

No. And it’s not that fun either : ( I don’t feel too well and it’s loading day 1.

I’m accustom to my regular diet that keeps me feeling light throughout the day.

Me too! I had a fun time on my first day because it was my birthday, but the second day I botched big time because I could barely force myself to eat anything. I must have done alright on my first day, because I had no hunger issues.

Ha ha, who'da thunk it?
I do feel heavy and bloated and headachy. I guess it's 'cause we are used to always watching what we eat. This is good though, I am going to try to remember this queasy feeling when I cut down.
Ooh--cashews--I forgot about cashews--I'll get some for tomorrow.
I want to be able to say "Been there, ate that"!

My birthday was Cinco de Mayo, so between the Cinco de Mayo potluck at work, and the Mexican dinner, I loaded on lots of avocado, meats, and cheeses that first day. I did have a slice of cheesecake and a mango margarita too, and then came right here to this forum freaking out because my blood sugar spiked to an all time high (I'm diabetic) due to my gorging.

I was okay the next day, but the whole freaking out thing sort of made me thinking about any other food so for my second day of loading I had bacon and eggs for breakfast and a slice of deep dish pizza for dinner and that was all I could stomach.

Sorry to resurect an old thread, but I have (lots of) questions on gorging. I am also Diabetic (T2) and the thought of gorging freaks me out a little.

I'm SURE I can gorge - I'll have a good go at it! But I also worry about my BG spiking. I'm not medicated at the moment, and plan to lose weight (LilacBruze - your weight loss is truly amazing!) to try to get my diabetes under control.

For my gorging days (and I plan to do it over the course of a Thurday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) I'll be eating lo-carb, maybe throwing in a very small amount of carbs to try to stop dawn phenomenon. Is loading/gorging on lo-carb food the best way to go? Is ketosis a consideration on your gorging days?

Also, wrt gorging - what exactly does gorging mean? Does it mean eating a lot of food? (That is subjective - we all have a different idea of what is a LOT of food!) OR - does it mean eating constantly until you literally cannot eat another bite? Does it mean eating whenever you can (ie - when you are not fil to bursting!), or does it mean eating large meals, with plenty of snacks in between?

I'd really appreciate inoput from experienced HCG'ers!

[A little background on me - I've had some success in the past with Atkins, and recently had a little more success with a VLC (Shake) diet. HCG sounds like it's the way forward for me! The idea of normal fat (current account - easy access) and abnormal fat (savings account - limited or NO access) rings very true with me.]

Patch - my doctor told me to eat high-calorie foods constantly throughout the day, and I should be aiming for around 5,000 calories (!!!) each day. I don't think I came anywhere near that, but I didn't count calories so I don't really know. I don't have any advice to offer on the BS spiking, other than eating LC, lots of fat and high-fat protein, and staying away from refined carbs and sugar. Perhaps someone else has a more educated take on it.

5,000cal? Can't see that being a problem! Those low-carb pizza's (cheese/cheese & cauliflower crusts) are gonna help with that "target"!

high fat loads result in way fewer detox symptoms your first week and way less hunger pangs! so low carb is perfect for loading

Yes!!! It's funny, but I always look forward to loading (I even have a list of things I want to eat), but when I start, I find that I can't eat everything I planned to eat, or wanted to eat!

I take this as a sure sign that my being overweight was definitely a hypothalamic disorder, because I gained a lot of weight over the years, while eating pretty 'normally'. (Now I realize I cannot eat flour products at all--every time I add them back in, I gain.)

Loading: Day 1 and 2 of the protocol
1. Do NOT try to limit your food during these days; the fattening food is necessary for the diet to work correctly, and more importantly to re-establish the structural fat that's been reduced or lost by years of fad-dieting. The more you eat, the better results you are going to have. Those who do not load to the fullest also experience difficult hunger pains throughout the injections.

2.You SHOULD gain weight on the loading days, you will lose it all within the first week, probably even the first 2 days!

3.It may seem impossible to load yourself with really fatty, unhealthy items (especially if you’re on your second or third round of the protocol), so here is a list of healthy items you can load on that are high in fat.
• Healthy Cold Pressed Oils
• Drizzle Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil on everything!
• Avocados : 26.5 grams for just one of these beauties…slather some Veganaise inthe pit dent and eat with a spoon!!!
• Nuts: Especially Walnuts, Macadamia Nuts, Pecans, Pine Nuts, in that order, can really boost your fat gram load
• Nut Butters & Tahini
• Seeds: Sesame, Sunflower, Pumpkin are all great!
• Coconut: The oil, the milk, the meat … fabulous! May also contribute to healing thyroid gland.
• Olives: Green or black, and stuff them with Tahini!
• Eat foods that you crave that are especially high in fat such as Dairy Queen, cakes, cookies, custards, creams, pastries, chocolate, etc. as it has a psychological effect of saying good bye (for now!)
• Focus on high caloric creamy foods.
• Drink whatever you want on your load days; including soda, beer, wine, sake,

Some great advice! But what about:

I've read the .pdf, and it states to stay away from sugar and starch - is that NOT the case for loading days?

It is NOT the case for loading. It is permitted. More healthy fats are encouraged, but, the carbs and junk are permitted. If you are going to have carbs/sugar, have it the first loading day, concentrating on your good foods the second. That is not written anywhere, just my theory.

Makes sense, I suppose.

If you eat sugar & carbs on day one, and even into day 2 of the loading phase, as long as your loading phase lasts a minimum of 2 days on top of the first 2 days (min. 4 days total), you will have used up your carbohydrate reserves and be running on fat (ketosis) anyway.

I quite like the idea of loading up on doughnuts and pies on day 1!

I did indulge in doughnuts both rounds. Round 1 I enjoyed it. In Round 2 I realized the donuts I had been longing for weren't that great anymore. It's out of my system now. It's funny how your tastes and wants DO change. This is truly a lifestyle change, and very necessary to keep the weight off once you reach goal. Happy loading to you!
