Any suggestions..Do we continue longer?
My DH and I are on P2D10 of 23 day protocol. We are doing very well...both down 10lbs as of today and staying completely on protocol. We have just realized that we will be at a very formal wedding and reception with sit down dinner the last day of HHCG. (We will be flying a few states away for the event).
I am hoping to be able to ask for the salad with no dressing when we are there and perhaps just move food about while trying to only nibble on the protein. I know there will likely be a bit of fat content with in it that we are not consuming now. I have read that it can take 3 days to correct a situation like this...... I am concerned about stopping our HHCG that day....moving into the 48 hour VLCD without it and onto P3 with potential "non protocol" in our system. I know this transition is critical to creating the new set point and maintenance. So my question is...should we stay on our HHCG and P2 for at least 3 more days to clean out whatever damage may have occurred? Or is there some other strategy. FYI....typically I would forgo the reception in a situation like this, however in this case we are very high profile and will be in a place of honor and can not gracefully bow out. As well it will be a catered event that we do not feel liberty to request concessions. |

Upon arriving at the reception, I'd try to have a word with a member of the catering staff and ask if it would be too much trouble to make a couple of the dishes, (whatever), oil free. I'd drink tons and tons of water, and see what I could do to have oil free veggies. I find that often that stuff turns into no big deal.
On P2 when I had that stuff happen, I'd sometimes have a stash in the car - chicken breast, apple, wasa crisp bread as a back up so I didn't have to go hungry in case there was no solution at hand. At one such gathering, (I travel for a living), when that was not an option, I brought my own steak and asparagus as a take out from another restaurant, and privately asked the waitress to bring that out on a plate for me when she was serving the pasta. It's all about flying under the radar and making the table conversation about the other people and tipping the waitress a bit. I'm really proud of my efforts to be healthier. There are plenty of things people do that are the opposite, so if I feel like if I DO get caught, I'm happy to "own" it. |
