Starting P3, Have a carb question!
Today is my 2nd day of VLC with no drops. Will be starting P3 tomorrow.
![]() I know the focus in P3 is stabalizing with no carbs or sugar. However, since we can still eat the fruit (sticking with those lower in sugar); how are you guys measuring your actual carb & sugar intake? Are you excluding any carbs or sugar which are naturally occuring (e.g. fruits, vegetables) and only counting added ingredients? For those that I noticed are using ketone strips, are you doing more adkins induction and excluding fruits all together? For those keeping track of numbers, how many carbs and sugar grams are you averaging a day (ballpark)? If I keep eating my daily apple and handful of strawberries, I'm already close to 40g of carbs for the day ![]() |

For me, I'm keeping any fruits/veggies that were allowed in P2, and just adding more protein/fat. I don't do ketone strips at this point, but my daily totals are coming out about 75% fat, 15% protein, 10% carbs.
The things to avoid like the plague are fruits with more sugar, starchy vegetables, anything with actual sugar added, and any true starches (grains/breads, etc.). If you look at the P3 sticky up at the top of the page, it has lots of wisdom about what to eat and not to eat, and some food lists. HTH!

Thanks ladies. I've been through the stickies and read the list of stuff, but wanted to get a feel for how close people are watching the numbers. Although fruit is allowed, even if I stick with the P2 fruits, I didn't want to sabatoge myself by eating too many fruit carbs and having that turn into sugar.

I just didn't have the higher sugar fruits (pinapple, grapes bananas) and avoided starchy veggies (corn, potatoes) in p3. I went slow on milk for a few days to see how we reacted but didn't count anything. Now in P4 we don't count anything but still try to avoid processed stuff. But then again we don't seem to be sensitive to anything but the usual suspects (bread and processsed sugar)

Thanks all. Seems like a should just stop over analyzing and take it a day at a time. Focus on stabilizing with a higher calorie intake and monitor the daily addition of new stuff to see if/when things go wacco :-)
