Finding a connection between Hhcg pellets and oral ulcers

I had a long episode of sores inside my mouth last round. I noticed them after a family gathering and thought I must have been kissed by an infected family member. But now I'm in R2 and just 3 days into the round, I have another ulcer in my mouth!

I never have discomfort when I take the pellets. The sores are always on the right side of my mouth, come to think of it. Under my tongue and along the gum line on the tongue side, inside the lower lip and the outside of the right cheek (between gum and cheek.)

I hope to God I'm wrong because I have 30 more days on Pellets! And another round to go in September.

I googled this matter and there are other sites that talk about this, so I'm afraid I am right as rain on this. I'd love to hear others experiences and maybe what you did to resolve the problem. They hurt! And they multiply! Right now I only have the one, but it will get much worse, if last round is any indication.

I am very prone to canker sores and fever blisters....I so hope this isn't true, and if it is, that there is an easy remedy. I am waiting for my pellets to come this week!

Just looked back in my journal. I didn't get them until day 38 in the first round. I can't find a note about when they went away, but I remember it took forever.

CJ, I hope it's just some weird coincidence. I have got to stop kissing my family members! Please keep us posted here and let us know if you are affected by the pellets, too.

I haven't started HCG yet, but I am prone to these. I get the same one in the right side of my cheek all the time. I noticed that certain mouth washes make it worse.

It is probably just coincidence and the pellets are aggravating the situation. Try to rinse your mouth out with water after the 15 minutes are up.

i had the worst ulcer of my life taking hcg. WORST EVER> Had to stop. Also had a loosening of the ligaments around my joints which I also had 30 years ago when I was pregnant. Dangerous stuff in my book.

That's a good idea. I'll try that. Thanks! Hope you don't have the problem when you start your hhcg! Keep us posted, okay?

Wow! I'm so sorry that happened to you. I think the hhcg is working wonders on my body, so I'm not going to stop using it. But I would like to find ways to protect my mouth. Maybe I'll use a baking soda solution to try and soothe the tissues.

I get one at least 2x a year and they are horribly painful. My older daughter gets 10+ every month around her cycle so we got her on the Depro shot and its much better. My hubby and other daughter get them too but not nearly as bad.
I have gotten a prescription through dentist for lidocaine/mylanta/steroid that our pharmacist mixes up and really helps with the pain along with 20% benzocaine topical gel. Tried the L-Lysine but not consistent enough to see if it worked well..it helps many people~google it
I am on day 22 and no ulcers yet..I really loathe them and hope I dont get them.
Not sure how to prevent them if its from the pellets other than rinsing as soon as the 15 minutes are up.
Stress and fatigue are big culprits in our family..immune systems are shoddy..oldest has IBS and youngest has autism.
I hope you can find some relief and be able to continue the pellets
Much empathy to you

I do take L-Lysine. I still get them. I cannot use most toothpastes. I can use Spry toothpaste just fine.

My family uses Tom's all natural..it keeps them from burning while brushing their teeth but not sure it helps them.

Thanks, Shell. Actually, I was just reading the pellet bottle closer today than I ever have before and they have L-Arginine, L-Carnitine and L-Ornithine. No L-Lysine, though. What does it do? Never mind. I'll google it.

I did rinse well right after 15 minutes was up with this last dose of the day. I will stay on top of it and see if it makes any difference. BTW: I'm up to two sores now.

I'm sorry you have some family matters to deal with. I don't know you, but you seem like a nice lady. Hope you hang around!

Great. Here's what I found:

“An imbalance in the amino acids lysine and arginine is thought to be one contributing factor in herpes virus outbreaks. A diet that is rich in the amino acid lysine may help prevent recurrences of cold sores. Foods which contain high levels of lysine include most vegetables, legumes, fish, turkey, and chicken. In one study, patients taking lysine supplements had milder symptoms during an outbreak, a shorter healing time, and had fewer outbreaks than patients who did not take lysine. Patients should take 1,000mg of lysine three times a day during a cold sore outbreak and 500mg daily on an ongoing basis to prevent recurrences. Intake of the amino acid arginine should be reduced. Foods rich in arginine that should be avoided are chocolate, peanuts, almonds, and other nuts and seeds.”

My pellets have the Arginine but no Lysine, so there's the imbalance the article talks about. Plus, I eat walnuts everyday in my cottage cheese dish. Double imbalance! Gotta go buy some Lysine asap. NOT giving up my walnuts OR my pellets!

Thanks for the info, ladies! Will also continue to rinse 15 minutes post pellets.

you can buy l-lysine tabs. when ig et a cold sore, i take 5000-8000mg a day. taken regularly they will ward off potential outbreaks.

i try getting some, cheryl, load up on them. like 2000mg every couple hours for the first day or two.

Okay. I was just shopping online for some. Can't seem to find large bottles. Anyway, I only need to take them when I'm on the hhcg. I have no problems with cold sores as a rule. Thanks, ladies!

If you need something to really soothe the mouth ulcers and help them heal faster try Kanka...it really does take the pain away and coats the sore for hours of relief.
I buy it at Von's Grocery but Walgreen's or Amazon has it too.

Hi Cheryl,
Just got to this thread.
I haven't researched, but it seems to make sense to try to change the PH balance of your mouth. Have you tried a rinse called: "Smart Mouth"? Really great stuff! If it were me, I'd try that along with the other suggestion, as well as thorough rinsing - perhaps baking soda water rinse. Hope this helps my friend :-)

Cold sores inside your mouth? Ouch! I am very prone to cold sores. I've been using the drops but was considering using the pellets next round since they are so much more convenient.
Does anyone have problems with the drops? I wonder if I should start using Lysine.

VLCD53 for me on hHCG drops, no mouth ulcers to speak of BUT, I have been having a problem with one side of my gums being inflamed for pretty much this whole long round. At first I thought that I had just flossed too vigorously but the problem has persisted for weeks.

Hi Cheryl,

I know you don't want to drop the walnuts, but you might consider it, at least for now. They are a major trigger for cold sores. L-Lysine is a good idea too, but I don't know if you can fix this w/o cutting out the walnuts, at least in the short-term.

Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Btw, sugar gives me canker sores and the pellets have sucrose in them. Just something to think about...

Hey, ladies! I am dog sitting today so I stopped at a drug store before I got to my sister's house and bought some L-Lysine. I took 1,500 mg so far and will take more later in the day.

If it's a choice between the sores and my walnuts, I choose the walnuts! I will rinse well every time I take the pellets, and I will also rinse with a salt solution or baking soda (don't have any right now. Just baking powder. But I need to stop at CVS on the way home and I'll try to remember to snag some.)

I love my pellets, so I bought bunches of bottles. I'll be using them all the way to goal and then maybe for a reshaping round, like many folks do. Now that I'm taking the L-Lysine, it will balance-out with the L-Arginine (sp?) and I will lose the sores soon. I'll bet by this time next week, they will be gone and I'll have forgotten all about them!

Just an update. I have been taking about 4500 mg of L-Lysine for a full week now and I thought it was helping me. I hadn't developed any new canker sores so I've just been battling the two I got in the beginning. I have been rinsing after the pellets, but not every single time. Sometimes I am just drinking afterward or eating something.

I was hoping I could be in a maintenance dose of L-Lysine at this stage, but not yet. I will keep plowing along and see if it will heal up soon. It seems to bother me most in the evening hours. When it's really bad, I use some numbing/drying gel for canker sores and apply it with a Q-Tip.

This may not work for everyone. Things like this are highly subjective. I hope I am one of the lucky ones who can say that it helped.

Keeping notes. Thanks for sharing. If mine start up I'll turn to the L-Lysine first thing.
