Men on HCG

My husband is considering HCG. Since he travels frequently, he thinking of going with the OWL (Omaha Weight Loss) program for more flexibility.

One concern we have is, early on in my research I came across something that mentioned men having enlargement of breast tissue, but haven't seen any actual reports on legitimate forums.

We would appreciate anyone with experience with men on HCG chiming in on possible side effects and/or tips for success.

Thanks!

hcg is not the hormone involved in breast tissue development.

I think it has been given in the past to young boys with delayed puberty or something like that. That might be the link you are seeing? Cause obesity in young boys causes both enlarged breast tissue and delayed puberty...which they treated with hcg back in the 50s or some long time ago.

I think OWL is a great idea since their calorie needs are generally far higher than us ladies.

I have seen that the men tend to lose well, even with the occasional cheat thrown in.

Hey Paula,
Thanks for the response and info. I know there are a lot of hubbys here tagging along and well as one or two posters and I hadn't heard any bad experiences. So I was hoping the one thing I read was more like the Atkins nay sayers who hadn't even read the book.

Have a great day!

Any other info, particularly helpful tips and/or modifications for men would be helpful from anyone who's been there.

Thanks All!

Hi Terri!

Like Paula said, HCG does not cause breast enlargement in men. It can happen in puberty and *should* go away in about 3 years. If it doesn't go away while an adolescent, then their body's testosterone/estrogen ratio is out of balance and can even cause breast enlargement in adult men (especially in "male menopause").

My husband has done 4 rounds of the HCG diet. Men lose faster than women (SO NOT FAIR! ). The OWL plan sounds like a great plan for someone who travels and needs flexibility.

Thanks Maggie,

How much has he lost? What plan did he follow? Did he do 26 or 40 day rounds? Did he need more food (specifically protein) then the typical female oriented plans? Inquiring minds & all.

On another note, how are you doing? Did you have a good weekend? I struggled with my fluctuations, but seemed to have come out on the other side now. I decided to give it another week because of it. Can’t seem to let the possibility of the next decade go. And yes, I can almost taste it.

Hope you have a great week!
