Back down to 172.5. After being all in a tizzy yesterday because of the two day no loss/gain, I got invited last minute to a girls night/dinner party last night. I did my best to avoid all the non protocol items. I had about 2 oz of thai beef that seemed to have no fat, but may have had a little sweetness, but not much. I had some cabbage salad with lime juice and shrimp. The bad part was that I had 2 oz wine and 4 almonds.
Hopefully this didn't mess me up, but I have decided to stick it out til at least day 21, and if next week is kind to me on the scale, I will go as planned til day 28. I got a lot of good responses to my post about my problems, so I feel strong about continuing until the end. dbunny- I had to laugh about you being cranky. I had a couple days where I was very grouchy too. Everybody is doing great and inspiring to me! thanks for being here |

Lara~ That sounds like a good plan. I'm debating about taking a planned interruption myself. Amylou~ The 3#s will come off fast! Look forward to losing with you! Quote:

![]() snaggle~ good job sticking with it! I can imagine how frustrating it has been! I am down... 4.4#s this morning!! I couldn't believe it when I saw the number. So that is all of my load weight plus .4#s. I'm super happy! I am also fully expecting to lose much more slowly after this. In previous rounds, I did not lose this much after the first vlcd, so I'm interested to see how I lose the rest of the round.I bought a new stainless steel water bottle- 25oz. I'm aiming to drink 4 a day. If I drink too much water, I retain it (at least in previous rounds) and 100oz is pretty manageable. Happy losing, everyone! |

I did about 4 hours of yard work today. I got distracted and forgot to eat one of my fruits... protocol says they need to be 6 hours apart, right? I have leftover strawberry sorbet from last night, so I'll be eating that for sure-- delish!

I really don't understand the whole holding the drops under the tongue thing. I do this (as good as I can) but it feels like most of it doesn't stay under the tongue anyway....

Checking in with a 0.4 lb loss again today. Back to that steady burn and only 2-3 injections left, so I'll soon be dealing with a different challenge and issues. P3 will be the beginning of a new experiment for me, to answer the questions I have about what I have to do/eat to maintain the weight I am at at that point in time.
Am about halfway through Gary Taubes' new book and am curious to see what he will say now that he has thrown out the calories in/calories out way of viewing changes in weight as not being correct. I am also becoming aware of the issues around lectins (they glom onto insulin receptors and cause problems with digestion and metabolsim) and leptins (they're supposed to signal the hypothalamus when we've eaten enough, and obese people commonly have something called leptin resistance that keeps them from feeling full). I couldn't tell when I was full when I did load this time around, and have to find out more about that, too. HCG was just the beginning of a whole new exploration for me -- an important beginning, and a great way to jump start the whole process of regaining my health and my shape, but certainly only the beginning of the quest. I plan to continue exploring and questing until I am comfortable with what I have discovered and settled in to a whole new way of eating and living. |

you are such great help ![]() well i had a 2 lb gain this morning due to the wedding. i can live with 2 lbs and am going to have an apple day i will have to see what my dr says tomorrow. she may want me to go off my injections for a week to get my TOM wont stop (its been like 9 or 10 days) so this will coincide with vacation time by the time it gets out of my system , so it all just might work out fine then back on injections after that.

1moretry- glad to see you back to your steady pace. I am looking forward to reading about your p3 experience. I am enjoying your take on the taubes book too. I think I may order it. I have never read any of his books, although he is my hero and I have read many posted excerpts, and articles of his.
Down a lb today and feeling positive. I have lost 6 lbs in two weeks which may not be stellar by hcg standards, but is great for this ol' menopausal bod. |

Good Morning all~ Happy Sunday.
Lost 1.5 pounds from yesterday! That is a total of 11 since last Monday. I went online and read some reviews about HCG. I think I will stop doing that as there is a lot of negativity out there. My personal reasons for doing this are because I continue to gain and lose the same 10 to 15 pounds (or 20) and cannot break past a certain point no matter what I do. I am doing this to break past that point, re-learn some better eating habits, and follow the program. I started locarb way back in 1999 with awesome results, but would go on and off and gain more each time, but take less off the next round. I would keep all the eating habits I had on Atkins (heavy cream in coffee, lots o' butter) but eat bad carbs and we all know what happens with high fat, high carb, right? I couldn't stop myself, though. I feel like I have been stuck in this cycle for too long. I am ready to stop the madness and retrain my body! So no more reading negative reviews! GO HCG!!!!

dbunny, Interesting point about how you would still incorporate the fats of an atkins plan with the carbs........................and gain. I am exactly the same. I have to tell myself that IF I want carbs, I must be very careful with the fats. The problem, for me, is that low carbing has given me a taste of the good life (fats) and it is very difficult for me to enjoy things like salads or vegetables without any fat. This is fine if I stick to protein and veggies, but stuff like pizza and pasta, must be handled in strict moderation. There is a lot of interesting info. being put out now about how the combination of fat, sugar (and carbs react like sugar), and salt are highly addictive and it is the wicked combination of them that has gotten us all so fat.

I am down 1.8#s this morning (VLCD3: 6.2#s total: 2.2 net). Pretty happy thus far. I got a little hungry last night after dinner, but 2 cups of chamomile tea w/vanilla stevia helped me through. Normally day 3 is the worst for me, so I'm prepared to stay busy!! |

I had a hard time transitioning from P3 to P4 last round. I so enjoyed the high fat goodness of butter, cream, etc, but tapering off that and adding whole grains was challenging... I just combined the fats and carbs! That & I love to cook and bake (hubby encourages the baking)... is why I'm redoing this round. I so wish I would have managed better in P4 last round, but I'm determined to make it stick this time!!

Was down .6 yesterday morning and 1.2 this morning. I took my scale camping, so that kind of kept me honest...and believe me, it was so, so, so tough to eat my prepared protocol foods when everyone else was eating it up camping style! The other downfall, I forgot my dressing preparation and had to eat my salad dry. So not satisfying!
I am still struggling with extending this program beyond the 21 days my bottle covers. I would like to say I can continue as long as my losses are decent, but I am beginning to really crave protein right now! I'm not craving carbs at all, but the thought of a patty with guacamole, onion, jalapenos, lettuce and tomato on it is driving me crazy right now. Maybe I just overdid it this weekend?

![]() ![]() Had ANOTHER 0.4 lb loss again today. When nothing intrudes (like my allergic reactions or a fight with my husband), this seems to be the rate I am losing at. The first couple of weeks were more (like for most people), but I am surprised at how steady this has been now that I got that plateau out of the way. Nothing magic about it. The math supports it. By eating 500 calories every day, I have a calorie deficit of around 1400 calories. It takes 3500 calorie to lose one pound of fat, so I lose 0.4 pounds a day, day after day. People who are larger than I am expend more calories just moving around, pumping their blood, etc. The AVERAGE loss is 0.5-0.8 per day on a consistent basis over the course of a long round, and when there is an average, some people will be under that figure and some people will be more. I now know what to expect from MY body under this program and with my losses being so steady, that roller-coaster of emotions has also smoothed out. In my second round, being that I will be 20 pounds lighter, I will probably not lose any faster and might lose slower, but I intend to work on getting rid of my allergies during these next 6 weeks plus stay low carb throughout that time and will see what comes of that. I just passed the 20-pound mark today, and don't feel as bummed out now as I was before about the fact that I don't see the spectacular losses that some others are seeing. 20 pounds in just under 7 weeks isn't so bad. In fact, it's better than I have done with any other weight loss method, so hooray for HCG! ![]() |
