Do we have to eat the bread?

I can't find melba toast or grissini at my local grocery stores. My question is, do we have to eat it? I just ordered some pellets from Intermountain, and the website says not to omitt any food group. I've been on the diet for almost 2 weeks and have only lost 8 pounds, so I am wondering if this is an issue.

I just finished P2 and only added the bread the last 10 days to surprise my body out of a stall with something different. My doctor said you could skip it if you wanted to.

Agreed. It's your choice. I wanted every single thing I was allowed to have. I favored the Wasa Crisp bread. They have lots of flavors. I REALLY looked forward to my 9am and 4pm apple and Wasa Crisp. That's the thing I liked about P2, I'd eat about every 3 hours all day!

I have never used the bread during either of my rounds and did fine.

sometimes i eat it in the morning just to put something in my stomach, sometimes i skip altogether. i *think* i remember something about including the grissini/melba so your body knows how to handle it when you add it back in during p4, but i have not had any problems so far.

would you like to post menu's to see if we can help?

Same here. That small bread stick was happiness to my P2 days

Dr Simeons says you can omit "anything you wish" while on P2. So I think it is OK to not have it. However, I find that I want everything allowed while on P2, so I include it. Thank goodness I am not gluten sensitive.

Oh, and I have found the Melba in all my grocery stores. And the Grissini at my Walmart--of all places. And they also have the Grissini at World Market here in my town.

I have my melba/grissini with my chili, I switched to the grissini bread as I discovered that my melba toast has added sugar and I was eating it the whole time

I can do that, although my menus are pretty basic.

Warm water with juice from a lemon for breakfast, tea throughout the morning

Snack in between meals:
1 Apple or 3-4 strawberries for a snack 2x a day

Lunch and Dinner:

100g of organic chicken breast, or 100g of lump crab meat (real crab meat) seasoned with low-sodium Old Bay Seasoning

2 cups of spinach salad, or a few slices of cucumber, or green beans

Lots of water and unsweetened tea all day long

I also drink 1 tbl of apple cidar vinegar 2x a day.

I try to walk 30 mins- 1 hr each day.

My problem might be that I have been having an abnormal period since last Thursday. This morning I weighed myself and still no budge on the scale, and I am still having my period.

I have ketone test strips and have been testing every day and I am in very dark purple ketosis.

Do you know where they carry it? I looked in the bread aisle and in the cracker aisle and didn't find any.

Try the aisle where they have pasta for the grissini/breadsticks. They are usually with the Italian "specialty" foods. Not sure about the melba but you might try the baby food aisle. I know that some mothers use them for teething babies. (Sheesh! Ya wouldn't think it would be so hard! )

Fyi, green beans are not protocol in case you're trying to be strict so you might try switching those out in case they are contributing to the stall.

Hang in there!

Wow I didn't notice that green beans aren't allowed. I'll stop eating those and see if that helps.

I'll look in the Italian aisle and see if I find the grissini there.

Thanks!

I found mine at Walmart in the same aisle as the canned veggies.

In my Wal-Mart they have the Grissini in with the Italian aisle. In the Publix, it is in the cracker/bread aisle along with the Melba. In my Kroger the Melba is in the cracker/cookie aisle and I haven't found the Grissini there. I agree with Shelby---why do they make us hunt these things down????!! Every store has it in a different section.

You can also make it homemade...I did that for my first baby who teethed a lot. It's basically plain bread lightly toasted till it's dried out and hard, and sliced into 3 or 4 slices.

I found them both at Publix last night. They were in the bread aisle past the bread in a specialty section- not sure how I missed them before.

I heard that when you hit a plateau, you may skip melba or grissini totally until your losing of weight gets back on track. In 24 hrs you are sure to see the weight drop a pound or even a half in 24 hrs.

Well I'll try that but I just started eating the grissini yesterday because up until then I couldn't find it. My stall has been since the 16th and I just added the grissini on the 20th.
