HCG and Low Carb

Hi,
I have been reading up on HCG alittle the last couple days and really interested in learning more. I was wondering if it can be done w/ a combination of low carb instead of 500 calories? I really enjoy eating low carb over cutting calories and would love if this would work w/ a low carb WOE.

Thanks!

and BTW: WOW!!! What an inspiration you all are!!

Hi Terri, and welcome :-)

I'm a bit too tired to explain it - but it has to do with what the body is choosing to burn for fuel. If there is fat available - (for example, in dairy, butter, sour cream, etc), then it will use this fat. During HCG dosing time, we avoid fats all together. It forces the body to turn to the stored fat instead. If you were to just eat 500 calories - it would lend more toward startvation mode. Instead, HCG dosing is like pressing the "lever" to close off burning from incoming fuel, and opens the "intake valve" to burn solely from stored fat.

I don't think I explained that very well - but if you read "Pounds and Inches", (can google it), it'll all make sense. :-)

Glad to have you here. :-)

I think you explained it just fine!

I too asked a similar question before I started. You get the best results sticking to protocol, or maybe going just a little rogue while still eating the listed foods. But most things that are low carb are high fat, and that simply will not work on this diet.
