Could someone advise me?
I need help. Again.
I think I screwed up. I am at 179.6 which is 2.2 above my LDW. I know most times we are to do a steak day, but I am wondering if I am one of those people who are in protein deficiency according to P&I pg 95-96. I had been gaining a little bit everyday, so I thought maybe I was getting too many calories--- I was so stuffed and wondering if I really had to eat all this food to be at my daily calorie allotment--so I went to eating only when I was hungry. Needless to say, I gained. (big surprise, right? )Anyway, yesterday, I was so hungry, I had physical pain in my stomach. Felt it by my back. It went away when I ate my lunch, but came back an hour later. Then it went away again when I ate dinner which I ate early. I also drank tons of water, but hardly went to the bathroom- #1 or #2, so that tells me I am retaining alot of water.I went from feeling like a stuffed monkey all the time to feeling like I am literally starving. I know I wasn't eating enough protein and fats, so I am wondering if in this situation, I should do the 2 eggs for breakfast, a huge steak for lunch and huge steak for dinner from p&i pg 95-96. Protein deficiency Here too the explanation is quite simple. During treatment the patient has been only just above the verge of protein deficiency and has had the advantage of protein being fed back into his system I from the breakdown of fatty tissue. Once the treatment is over there is no more HCG in the body and this process no longer takes place. Unless an adequate amount of protein is eaten as soon as the treatment is over protein deficiency is bound to develop, and this inevitably causes the marked retention of water known as hunger- edema. The treatment is very simple. The patient is told to eat two eggs for breakfast and a huge steak for lunch and dinner followed by a large helping of cheese and to phone through the weight the next morning. When these instructions are followed a stunned voice is heard to report that two lbs. have vanished overnight, that the ankles are normal but that sleep was disturbed, owing to an extraordinary need to pass large quantities of water. The patient having learned this lesson usually has no further trouble. Here's my food diary. Try2basunbeam's Food Diary | ************.com |

Before you started P3 did calculate you daily calorie needs? Based on age, weight activity level? If so I think the culprits in your menu might be the gin, popcorn and sugar-free ice cream...the OJ could be a prob too. How many days into P3 are you?

This is my 10th day. I drink only about a 1/4 cup of oj to make my magnesium go down. I disolve it in hot water and then add the oj to flavor it a bit.
Yes. Popcorn. Bad. Very bad. my weakness... I thought it was the gin doing me in. Last edited by try2basunbeam; 06-09-2011 at 07:57 AM.. |

The protein deficiency treatment worked for me...at least for a couple of days. I'm still having trouble with the up and down weigh ins though so I'm not sure if it was only a temporary fix. Since then I have consumed more protein but I have still been gaining each day until a couple of days ago. I had to stop eating SF items containing Splenda and almonds to see the scale go back down these past couple of days. I even lasered some almonds a couple of days ago but I'm scared to try them because it seems that everything makes me gain. The last couple of days have been good but I won't consider myself out of the woods until I become fairly stable. I should have started P4 last Friday but that was totally out of the question since I was about 4 lbs above my LDW at the time. So now I'm just trying my best to stabilize or at least minimize the weight gain until I can start my next P2 in July.

Let us know how the steak egg and cheese day goes for you. It works for me if I am retaining badly.
And yes, the gin probably didn't help neither did the popcorn LOL |

urg...179.5
still over by .1 Lost .1 Now what? Thinking I should eat normal, high fat and no sugar starch and then if I gain again do a CD tomorrow? I usually don't see gains from screw-ups for 2 days. At least that is how I was in p2. What do you think? |

Thanks for the advice!
You know it is harder than one might think to do this. I was so afraid of p3 because everyone says how utterly important it is. "Don't screw this up whatever you do." Well, I am good at screwing things up, let me tell you! So, even though I have never kept a food diary before in my life, for more than a day or two, this time I have been consistent all the way through, not wanting to screw up, thinking it is what needs to be done --keep that 65/50/10 ratio going. With all the research before starting each phase, I thought with p3, the main thing was to eat the calories, eat enough fat, at least double the protein, hence the ridiculous planning of everything I was eating. So, yesterday, with my friend's advice--who said after looking at my food diary that she thought I looked like I was "dieting"--, I worried much less. Relief from my own insanity. I had two eggs for breakfast, scrambled in bacon fat; then lunch, I had a huge salad with my homemade dressing (SF-mayo, garlic, ACV, mustard) and a bunch of veggies-- with the thigh, leg, and a teeny part of a breast from a rotisserie chicken made at my co-op (no sugar--just seasonings and EVOO)--YUM! I also had a 12oz breve from the co-op to get in some extra fat--I swear, that why! And then, because I got home so late from the shop, I decided to skip a normal dinner because I know when I eat late, I gain. I always do. So I chose to have a few cheese curds, a SF jello, and a couple walnuts--oh, and some nibbles of more chicken as I prepared my salad for church today. LOL I have NO idea how many nibbles--wasn't counting and but I know I didn't want to waste it! Now, keep in mind, this was close to 9pm last night...so I prayed I wasn't sabatoging myself... ![]() I weighed myself this morning and I was at 177.7!!!!!!! Woohoo! That's only .3 above my LDW! ![]() Now, I know I was under calories, but I also know that had I eaten dinner, I would not have had the same results this morning, I don't doubt I would've gained again, so I feel really good about being in control of what I eat, feeling like I am in control and that I do not have to follow the rule to eat 2000+ calories. Maybe that is just too much for me. I know that what I ate yesterday wasn't really enough, but I also remembered where I read that skinny people just know to eat less the day after an excess. That they just do it naturally. ANd that's pretty much what I did. I ate when I was hungry and because It was late rather than eat a huge meal, I snacked. Maybe it is the overall of the week rather than day by day. Liek if I eat 2000+ one day, then the next only 1000, I average 1500... ![]() Anyway, today the plan is to eat an omelet for breakfast, my salad and chicken for lunch and I have no idea what I will eat for dinner--just like normal (cuz I rarely plan dinner, tend to run to the store just before dinner lol--probably not very cost effective, eh?) Ahhh, what I would do for some crab legs doused in butter and a ceasar salad or/and maybe butter soaked brocolli! ![]() |
