A strange question...
Hey, low carb friends! I have what may look like a goofball question, but I'm desperate for some answers.
I have been seriously investigating the hcg diet, and one step I have taken, besides reading all your wonderfully informative threads here, was to look at some of the many online videos available of people's before and after photos. Wow--SO impressive and really quite miraculous! Many of the transformations simply took my breath away. But my question is this--is there anyone out there with a pear-shaped physique who has had good success with this plan? It seems like every video I looked at was of an apple-shaped woman who lost amazing amounts of fat around the middle. For a year now, I have been struggling to lose my last 15 or 20 pounds, and every last pound of it is on my butt and thighs. I am just SO desperate for something to help me. (And I realize that no diet can change the basic shape of someone's body, but I'm talking about visible fat deposits here, not my skeleton!) Thanks so much in advance for any input you might have.

Cheryl, I know you've heard my theory before, but it sure does seem like pear shaped bodies just won't let go of their fat! I'm hoping that this diet could make the difference!

I'm going to ask Minimonkey to address this for you. I'll go get 'er! She's a big reshaper and a huge hcg fan.
I just sent her a PM with the link to this thread. Watch out cause she's coming! Last edited by CherylB; 06-08-2011 at 04:59 PM.. |

Funny, but I feel the same way about my non-pear shaped body!! The fat around my middle is the absolute last thing to go. Then again, I have not tried HcG yet...(I am also investigating!)

I am most definitely a pear, not an apple. I have done well with this diet. I look better now at the weight I am at than when I was at this weight previously - even years younger. I am not to the last 15 or 20 like you, I'm probably at the last 20-30 depending on how much farther I decide to go. I like the reshaping aspects of it.

I'm here!
Yes, I was a pear -- very bottom heavy with big thighs. Hhcg completely reshaped me -- I lost most of my weight from my legs and butt... and totally lost the pear shape. In fact, I am now focusing my exercise on trying to build a butt!!! My legs leaned out tremendously on this protocol -- and I leaned out all over, without my face or upper body becoming gaunt... now that's a first for me. The reshaping has been phenomenal, really-- and now I am experimenting with a very rogue plan involving a lot of exercise, continued use of the hhcg, and eating low carb... I am a woman on a reshaping mission! Not only did I lose weight very well when on the very low calorie protocol, but I am now building muscle amazingly well by eating more and doing very targeted exercise. I am pretty certain the hhcg is playing a big role in my ability to build muscle without fat gain -- I'm still trying to find the optimal diet to go along with this muscle building experiment, but my results have been very promising to date. So, long story .... yes, it worked for me, and yes, I love it!

Thank you guys SO much for the information! I really, really appreciate hearing from a few other pears out there (and frankly, none of you guys look even REMOTELY pear-shaped to me, so there must be something to this!)
(Btw, I started reading Pounds and Inches this afternoon, and I quickly found an answer to my question in Dr. Simeons' own words--he describes patient who came in, whose face and neck were scrawny and emaciated from dieting for so long, but who, when she stood up, was seen to have enormous hips and thighs! He goes on to say that after treatment, her face and neck were rejuvenated and smooth and the fat deposits gone from the hips and thighs. So I guess that settles that!) |

I am very much a pear. Always needed a larger size bottom than top. I have lost 8 inches off my waist so far.
I am only halfway through my journey so I am reluctant to comment further about 'reshaping'. I suspect I will still be a pear - just smaller. |

I went from being pear shaped before I gained weight, so apple shaped after I gained weight. After 3.5 (currently in my 4th round) of HCG, I lost from the top on downwards, so I am pear shaped, but that is changing quickly with this 4th round. I am down to the last 13.5lbs to goal weight.

I've been measuring, and almost all of the weight lost so far has been in my thighs which was previously the measurement that just wouldn't go down!
