Okay, don't kill me, try to remember you really do love me.

The DH has been on the fence with trying this for a month now. This morning he decided he wanted to really give it a try. The bad news is he wants to load this weekend and get started right away. It's kind of strike while the irons hot. So unless he changes his mind (and I'm working on that), I may be loading this weekend instead of next. The good news is your DH will have a week’s worth of mine's experience to draw from.

I'll keep you updated as to how it plays out.

I hope you have a really terrific time on your vacation!!! How are you feeling today?

Oh, for sure, Terri! Go for it! Best of luck to him! Can't wait to hear how it goes! Have FUN loading!

Been on the road almost 5hrs. Kids doing fairly well. for continued good attitudes while driving!

Food wise, have just been lightly snacking. Almonds, pecans, a hard boiled egg. I made a dozen minute muffins...4, cinnamon; 4, plain; 2, chocolate; 2, choco-peanut butter ( made with that PB2 stuff). Haven't had any of those yet.

Oh...feeling pretty good, thanks for asking.

Just wish I didn't have this cold sore...it's not huge, but not what I wanted to deal with on vacation. Oh, well.

Sounds like so far so Good!

Your snacks sound great, good job. I made a batch of cream cheese muffins last night, oh my goodness they were yummy! I had two, and then got into my whip cream so I was really worried today. Down .5 It's almost like when I overdo it with quantity of P3 foods I do better. That's why I mentioned maybe you needed to up your calories. There again

For continued peace on the drive.

All looks peaceful!

That reminded me I was going to send you pictures of Lassen.

The first picture, you have to imagine the volcano was the size of all three mountains combined. The space in between these peaks is actually the crater it left when it erupted 100 years ago. 2nd picture is our little cabin. 3rd is up at the peak.

Hey girl! How are ya? How was loading?? Are you on vlcd yet?

Vacation has been fabulous...so blessed!

i didn't bring my scale on vacation. so, not sure where i am weight wise. i am feeling a bit "poofy". food has been LC. except, last night dh and i went out for supper without the kids. had yummo sweet potato fries with my meal. then we shared a sf breve latte and a sour cream doughnut....you know the ones that look a krispy kreme! yeah, it was yummy. that has really been the only blatant carbs i have had, with the odd bite of pizza of crust.

today we are taking the kids the fun park here in town. the food at the park, along with the price of a day pass , is OUTRAGEOUS!! $8+ for a burger or slice of pizza. so we will take all our own food. i had boiled 3 dozen eggs at home to bring on the trip and still have a bunch of those, so will take those. i was thinking of doing just eggs today as a CD. but then remembered we also have apples and cheese cubes. can't decide if i should do apples and cheese today for a CD or the boiled eggs/mayo. what about both?

Hey Buddy!
Sounds like you're having a great time, that's awesome! If I were you, I'd make the best choices from what's available, enjoy your vacation and don't sweat it too much. You prepared well, just make that your foundation. A blatant carb or two is what P4 is all about. And R2 is right around the corner.

We loaded Friday and Saturday so DH could have a VLCD with me before he was on his own. He was a little shocked at how little he got to eat and equally shocked at how much it filled him up. Didn't seem to have any hunger issues (beyond the mental/habit/change we all go through).

Loading went okay. Funny thing is I really wasn't hungry. Meat had very little appeal. Carbs in the way of potatoes and cake were really the only things I wanted. So I gave my body what it asked for, just tried to keep the portions reasonable and load them with as much good fat as possible. I only gained 2.4 so I was pretty happy about that. DH gained 3.8, so not bad either. So I'm starting VLCD exactly 9lbs less then when I started R1. I'm considering that a real victory!

Like I said, no hunger issues for DH or me. So I feel pretty good about using the old bottle of pellets. I am going to order another bottle though since I'm sharing.

I tried the Chipotle Ranch today, very impressed. Since I haven't found it locally, I think I'll order a couple more bottles with my pellets. Especially since the freight is flat rate. I'm also going to try the EZ sweetz. Have you ever tried the liquid stevia? Anything else you'd really recommend? I did get the strawberry spread and Oriental dressing that I haven't tried yet.

Hope the rest of your vacation continues to be a blessing!!!

Good morning,
A little surprised and disappointed, only down .4 this morning. I knew this week was going to be a little difficult to start, week before TOM. Oh well is what it is. DH down 3.3 though.

Have a great day!

hey! so good to hear from you! i get a little lost when our thread gets shoved to the bottom of the stack.

sounds like you are off to a great start! i bet TOM is messing with things. it'll all even out! WTG on being 9lbs less than the start of r1!! i am pretty anxious to see how things are being at a lesser weight that round 1.

my apple/cheese day went well. i am glad i did it. just would be nice to know what it yielded. it was pretty easy to do since we took all our own food to the fun park and then ate supper at the condo, too.

so do you prepare all of dh's food? i will just so he doesn't have to think about it. how many cal is your dh doing?

dd and i are our own for the day. hubby took the 3 boys rafting. which also means no car for us so we'll be hoofing it all day. we are only a couple blocks from downtown, so not to bad.

saturday i had the BEST chicken cobb salad. chicken, avocado, eggs, bacon, tomato, onion. the only thing was it NASTY blue cheese crumbles on the one end. THANK HEAVENS that vile stuff was not over the whole salad!! anyway, i think we'll walk back to that place for lunch today.

i don't know why but when my 9yo was telling me good bye and hugging me, he said "you're soooo skinny! i can put my arms all the way around you." he never says stuff like that, so that made me smile.

ok, sweets....more later!

EDITED: if you haven't ordered yet. try the maple groves farm SUGAR FREE raspberry vinaigrette! i LOVE This one and even eat it when not on p2. don't like the liquid stevia, can't tell it's even in whatever. the creamy bacon and bacon ranch from walden farms is pretty tolerable too. plain ranch is yucky, though.

What a sweet thing for your son to say! You'll be flying high on that one for a long time.

Yes I make DH's meals. I am usually in charge of dinner. Even if he cooks, it's usually what I have out. And I pack his lunches, so the only real change is packing his breakfast. I usually do fruit & breadstick for breakfast, so he is too. He's doing the basic protocol with me, with a few extra veggies. Yesterday VLCD1 was:
Breakfast - Apple & breadstick
Lunch - Burger King Grilled chicken salad, minus the cheese with Walden's Bacon Ranch dressing (probably why I was down only .4)
Dinner - P2 Chili, homegrown green beans
Snack - Apple & breadstick
It added up to about 650 calories. I have a heck of a time keeping it down to 500. The biggest culprit I think is beef. I'm working on getting closer today. Shrimp & asparagus for dinner and strawberries for breakfast.

It's really odd going back to P2. My brain keeps gravitating back to doing a CD, especially since I'm still working on loading weight. It's really hard being okay with this extra weight! It's just not right!

your plan sounds great.

how do you make your p2 chili? what about using chicken instead of beef for the chili?

i am going to do some different things than R1. i'm going to try and do like protocol and not eat breakfast, just coffee w/ h&h (not fat free this round). contemplating no grains. ok, that's not that many differences. i thought there more...will have to think on that...lol!

later this evening, i'll post some of my daily menus from R1 that were 500 cal for reference.

This is the recipe for the chili (good idea about the ground chicken, I think I'll give that a try):

HCG CHILI
7 ounces tomatoes chopped
100g beef (extra lean ground beef no less than 96% or ground chicken would also work well)
1T + 1t Chili powder
1t paprika
1/2t cumin
1t Onion powder
2t Chopped garlic
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Cayenne to taste

Brown beef in fry pan with 1t chili powder (If using steak mince then brown with a bit of water or stock and the 1t chili powder)

Put all ingredients in a saucepan and cover cook over low heat adding liquid when necessary until cooked, stir often. Add water or chicken broth if you like to bring to your desired consistency.

I read that thread about the basis of not eating breakfast. I used to not eat breakfast and ever since I have, not sure I could go back. I'll be interested how it works for you. I'm totally off HWC for coffee. 1T FF milk only. I think that's in part why I didn't have more success at the end of R1.

I thought about letting the grains go, since I don't really care about them, but after being able to eat them a little on P4 without the huge Low carb weight gain of the past, I think I'll stick with them just to make sure I can have them (on a limited basis) down the road.

I would appreciate your menu suggestions, thanks!!

Thanks for the recipe. I think I will try it with chuncked up chicken breast.

I totally agree about the grains. I want my body to stay "used" to them on a very limited basis. That's why I said contemplating, but you reaffirmed why I ate them in R1.

You've created a monster!! How about shredded chicken? And now that we mention it, I'm starting to think about crocking a batch of chicken for assorted new recipes. How about shredded chicken with green sauce/chicken salad? My yummy button just woke up! Thanks, I needed that!!

Well just off the top, I'm thinkin' measure out six portions, basically a pound & a half, or whatever works for you, add whatever liquid and then divide it in six portions when you're done. I always cook extras for later easy to heat up lunches and dinners. One of my super easy crock meats has always been:

Brown meat of choice (for me that’s usually beef )
Put in crockpot
Top with sauce of choice
Cook on low 8 hours, or so.

Sauce of choice depends on my mood
Mexican - Sugar free salsa
Italian - Low sugar marinara
Tex-mex - Diced tomatoes with chilies
Evil bad - Cream of somethin' soup

With green salsa, I also like to add some cumin, onion & garlic. This is also great with pork.

I keep thinking of that taco salad recipe of yours. Anything above would be killer. Or how about on top of cabbage noodles? I've got to stop, I'm getting hungry!

Good Morning,
Down .8 this morning, that's a little better, 1.2 total. I'm a little afraid I'm wasting my week one whoosh by starting the week before TOM. Oh well. DH is down 5.5 total.

How'd the day on your own with DD go?

oh, 0.8 is great!! maybe you'll just a 2nd week whoosh after TOM is over.

i am bummed. i don't think dh and i can load on the 13th (ds's birthday) i just ordered our pellets last night and i don't think they'll make it to us by fri so we can start dosing on sat. i should have thought it thru better. BUT you can bet we WILL be saving some cake form the birthday!! i'll get tracking info later today so we'll see for sure then when we'll get them.

our day (morning, guys were back by 1:30-1:45) was good. we walked downtown, ate an early lunch (yummy cobb salad, SANS VILE BLUE CHEESE!!) shopped a bit, then walked back to condo. i was sooooo tired when we got back. didn't lay down, just read online while dd played with her new toy and watched tv. peaceful.

we leave the beautiful mountains and our lovely condo this morning and head to denver to stay with my grandparents till we head home on thursday morning.
