How do you get things "moving"?

Hi everyone,

I am on VLCD9, and I've only "moved things" twice. I know that it's normal for "output" to be less, but I'd still feel better if I went every 2-3 days??? I'm following protocol pretty strictly (maybe my portions of protein are larger, as I am not measuring the individually frozen chicken breasts and fish filets I bought), no melba toasts/ grissinis, and only occasionally am I eating the fruit (apple, or 1/2 grapefruit). The only rogue thing on my menu is my 2 pieces of sugar-free gum a day. I'm on the pellets, doing great (lost 10 pounds so far, not including my load weight), but still would feel better (mentally, I think) if things "moved along" a little better.....

What are your secrets???

Thanks!

Miralax. I get the Walmart store brand Clearlax.
Smooth Move tea for a few days to start the process--I put the Clearlax in my morning tea. HTH!

I take a colon cleanser when I am on P2. I am doing it now. My family can always tell when I am on it

When that is done I use Natural Calm. It is a magnesium supplement, in powdered form, that I take at night with my hot tea before bed. I like it, buy it in Vitamin Shoppe and have the flavored raspberry lemon one. DH even likes it--and he is not doing protocol.

I'm a fan of Milk Thistle you can get it at any drug store even Trader Joes has it. Take 1000 mg and you will go in a day or so. =) Good for your kidneys too.

Agreed!

I would also try to eat your fruit servings, especially the apple, which has a good amount of fiber in it.

Chia seeds aren't on protocol in case the original poster cares. Also they are contraindicted for hypothyroid folks in some cases, FWIW. (Not that the original poster is to my knowledge--just to be complete.)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies! I'm not hypothyroid (that I know of), but don't want to stray off of protocol. I am honestly doing so well sticking to the allowed foods, and my cravings have been pretty manageable so far, that I'm concerned about the Chia seeds.

That said, I did have a visit this morning, albeit a small one, but still... I wasn't down any weight, but I'm now into the second week, so wasn't expecting anything too huge. I'm going to keep plugging along, and maybe see about some "Slim Teas" or "Smooth Move" to help move things along.

Good luck to everyone in whichever phase you're in!!!

Dulcolax softener. Keeps things moving without the unpredictable sprinting to the bathroom since I have IBS.

The slimming teas work for me. Just be careful the first time you try to see how your body will react. The first time I drank the slimming tea straight, four hours later I had major cramping and was thankful for being close to a friendly restroom. I do better mixing a couple bags with regular tea in a large pot or jug.
