Suggestions for Being Active/Playing Sports on P2?

My husband and I are starting VLCD 1 tomorrow. His first round, and my second. He is pretty motivated to get started, but I am slightly concerned about what may happen on the days he plays sports. I know I had days during Round 1 where I was super lethargic and even dizzy (one day I just flat out tipped over while trying to do laundry!!!) while other days I felt great and had tons of energy.

He is taking a multivitamin, plus potassium and magnesium. Is there anything else he can do to help keep him strong and energetic? I've read about B12, so I'm thinking about ordering some.

Should he increase proteins on the days he is playing sports or biking?

Oh, in case it matters, he only has about 12-15 pounds to lose.

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

There is an exerciser and hcg thread Minimonkey and others are in. In general, they suggest upping protein levels for hard exercise. Light exercise, such as walking or swimming, is covered in Pounds and Inches and it says are fine as is.

I am thinking your husband will most likely want to increase both protein and calories on workout days -- men get a much better deal, overall, with this protocol -- they lose more easily and have higher nutritional needs in general. Since he is clearly athletic, and close to goal, my guess is that he could do 1000 calories easily and still see results.

There is a great argument for sticking to protocol, to be sure... but for some of us, that would have entailed giving up working out the way we like.... so it is a choice to be made.

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions. I'm definitely going to tell him to increase the calories and protein. I appreciate the help!
