Help me decide what to do...
Hi Everyone,
I am so ready for my next round of P2...I did a 43 day P2 on my first round and could have kept going. I am through P3 and started P4 this last Tuesday. Here is my quandry... I really want to start the next round of P2. I would like to be down 20 more pounds for summer and if I follow through with my current plan I will be loading on June 11 and 12 and starting P2 on June 13. That gives me enough time to be down probably about 15 pounds by July (as least I hope). Then I plan to do an extended round because my 44th birthday is October 4th and I am going to Vegas for a convention October 11th - I would like to be back on P4 for these events so that means I have until early September for Round 2 to finish up. That is half of June and all of July and August for P2...I could make some amazing headway but I am concerned that I won't be down where I want to be by my birthday. I would like to be somewhere in the 130's by early September...that means I have about 35 to 40 pounds to lose. I have 12 weeks from June 13th until September 3rd - is that enough time to take off 35 to 40 pounds? Should I consider cutting my P4 short and start P2 now...that means I would plan one semi cheat day for my sister in law's baby shower. They do have a salad on the menu but it has salmon on it so there aren't any really safe P2 foods there...although I could eat just the salad and push the salmon around on my plate. I just feel a little weird about being picky at her shower. The other thing is that I am not one to cheat and ESPECIALLY when I want something this badly so it would feel really weird to cheat and what would the ramifications be? I wouldn't eat cake and I probably wouldn't eat the salmon other than a few bites to make my mother in law happy (ugh). What are your ideas about that? Pros and cons? Thanks for any input, suggestions and ideas you have! Jody

Or maybe I should do a normal 40 day round and then another short round before my Vegas trip? What do you all think?

Jody,
I am still very new to HCG (R1P2D11VCLD), but am not new to the struggle of losing weight only to regain it, despite rigorous adherence to any "diet" I have tried before. It was when I went off the diet that I got into trouble and am determined to not do that again. You don't say whether you are doing injections or oral HCG, but it's my impression that there are limits to the amount of time you can stay on P2 during a given round, so it strikes me that you are trying to juggle too many things -- dates, events, and your weight loss numbers. As I said on another thread, one definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. It sounds like your events are good opportunities for you to think about your priorities and real reasons for being there. You could also review your relationship to food overall. Is it nutrition or a way of processing different emotions? I had to unlearn habits of long standing to change from the latter to the former. Every opportunity you have to change your perspective about the role food plays in your life is an opportunity to change the overall outcome. It is my thinking that you should choose the protocol you want and when you want to start it and then stick with it, ending it when it's supposed to end. You can't impose so many numbers on yourself and succeed. I prepared a full month before starting my first round and have made a pact with myself to do it by the book for two full rounds and then accept where I land. I have to lose around 57 pounds in total, which is a lot on a 5'0" frame (small-boned, to boot), and I know it will take two 40-dose rounds to accomplish that. My advice is to set reasonable (and attainable) goals for each round, stick with protocol and end the round when it's time to end it. I read a response by someone with lots of experience with this method that it's what you do in P3 and P4 that is key to stabilizing, and that your body needs a rest in between rounds. It's not just about weight or numbers. It's about living the life that pleases you and makes you feel good about yourself. The fat is a symptom of many things -- imbalances in many aspects of your life -- and it's going to take some inner work as well as following the protocol for you to address these things and reshape yourself -- not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and psychologically, as well. It's about becoming the PERSON you want to be, not just walking around in your body like it was a shell that had nothing to do with you. HCG is a great way to lose weight, and more importantly, it's a great opportunity for you to discover what works for you and what doesn't. I am learning something every day that will help me function better in the long term, and it's the long term you want to focus on. Short term thinking doesn't work if you want the fat off permanently. |

Make a plan and stick to it, girl. You only let yourself down when you plan a cheat. You're not rogue in your heart, I can tell-if you were, then do what feels right to you. I want the healing properties of hcg, not just whatever the scale says, so I do the P4. That's my best advice. Not only that, you learn what works, which is what you'll need in real life. Showers, parties, all that will be there but your body is what's important. If you were truly allergic to something that they were eating there you wouldn't feel a twinge of guilt with avoiding it, would you?

You know me C'marie...I am so not a cheater and I am so totally abut being straight on protocol. I know it's only a few weeks to wait...it's just that I am ready. BUT I do want the healing properties of the P4 so thank you for the reminder.
I have decided to do an extended phase because I am on the homeopathic version of HCG (so it shouldn't be less effective) and because my understanding is that an extended phase is STILL considered straight protocol and will give me the same benefits...I guess I might consider doing another 43 day round with a 2 or 3 week P3 break and go straight into P2 again...and then into P3 and P4 in time for my trip to Vegas and my birthday. I know that AveryJenn did that with success. What do you think of that? I so value your opinion C'marie...you really get where I am coming from. I really appreciate that about you. I guess a huge part of me just wants more of this weight off because my knee is really hurting...even though I have lost almost 27 pounds in the last couple of months. I am hoping that the next 20 will make a huge difference in how my knee feels. I know that the problems with it have to do more with my weight and being out of shape then a true physical problem and I am ready for it to not hurt anymore. And I can't start working out again until it's better. I am ready for this weight to be off because of course...YES I do want to look better...but mostly because of this darned knee. I pray to God that my instincts are right and it's like this because I was overweight and out of shape...not because something is wrong with it. Thanks for listening to me ramble, yet again. Jody |

I hear you. I skipped the EXTRA LONG wait between Round 4 and Round 5 but I did do at least 6 weeks because of my hips - although when it was all said and done I only lost 10 new pounds on R4 and 12 new pounds on R5 - and who knows how effective it might've been if I'd have waited. But doc told me to get the weight OFF and so I have.
It is my understanding that hhcg you are fine to do a longer round. I know there is controversy whether or not even injections leave you open to immunity. I for one never want to find that out! I don't want it become ineffective for me. And plus, I get pretty tired of it, even as motivated as I am, on anything over 40 days now. You'll make the right decision for you, and that's all that matters. We are here to support you either way, not judge. |
