I use one of the slicing disks for the food processor. Came with two, don't know what the difference is.

The dam finally broke! And broke and broke and broke, lol.
I drank a total of 96oz of water today. Excuse me while I float away... |

Beezer, I always wonder about the chicken broth. Even really clean, organic broth is cooked with other non-protocol veggies, and the super-stickler part of me worries that those molecular essences of carrots and whatnot will cause trouble. The other side of me says, "Oh, calm down!" and I use a little bit of it sometimes to cook with. But, I do wonder . . . .

So despite all that peeing yesterday, I made a conscious decision to do a mini-refeed last night for dinner. I didn't pig out on junk food, but ate until I was about to bust. I ate 2 bowls of Kashi cereal with skim milk, and bagels with low fat cream cheese, and a huge protein bar. I am up a total of 4.2 lbs from Friday, but with 18 more VLCDs to go, am not worrying about it just yet.
I didn't do it because of the water retention, although that is what got me interested in reading the refeed thread. I did it because I want my loss to stay consistent and got worried that it would start to taper off because of the longer round. Yeah, I was crying before I got hurt, lol. I don't think it was an excuse to binge though, otherwise I would have eaten junk. There are donuts and all kinds of crap in the house and hubby ordered a pizza but I was not interested in them. Anyway, no less motivated today, although 4.2 lbs fatter. ![]() Back to VLCD23 now...

Make it 3.6 lbs lol, Bernice just paid me a visit.
I'm wondering if this was an sub-conscious reaction to my fear of P3? I'm really looking at why I panicked the way I did yesterday. Like I said, it was not an excuse to cheat as there was plenty of horrible food in the house if what I wanted to do was gorge myself. It wasn't due to stalling because I have had some great losses. I knew the 1 lb gain was water weight because I could SEE the retention. I really can't put my finger on what caused me to decide a re-feed was a good idea. Not saying it wasn't - time will tell - but I am trying to come up with valid reasons why I felt it was a good idea at the time and am coming up short! |

Good morning, 40 dayers!
Down another 1/2 pound today, for a total of 19 pounds down as I head into day VLCD21. I still feel good and motivated, so I have no desire to stop P2 -- thinking that this is when I'd be switching over if I were doing a 23 day round . . . Anyway, Lilac, I think you're thinking about it right and it's good to self-assess like that. I do think that the refeed idea has merits, and it's going to work beautifully for some people and be a big disaster for others -- and you'll never know until you try it. Our bodies are our own little science projects, you know? Glad you had a fun, but controlled, feed, and I bet the pounds will drop off now that you're back on protocol. |

About water:
My new strategy, since I've been drinking entirely too much iced tea, iced green tea, and seltzer with flavored stevia (which is fine but not really what the body needs to flush out the fat and keep things moving) -- I have a 27 ounce Klean Kanteen, and my rule is that I MUST drink four refills. Anything else I want to drink is fine in addition to that. I may never leave the bathroom . . . |

I didn't either until I read the thread a couple down from this one (as of now). It makes sense although I jumped the gun since I wasn't stalling or anything. I just panicked. No excuses, am moving on, and can only hope it didn't sabotage me!

Down 1.8 lbs this morning without a visit from Bernice yet! Yes!!
Am happy to be back on track! Had a HORRIBLE bout of water retention! Hardly any of the water I've drank from the last two days was being peed out. Saturday I drank 120+oz and yesterday I drank 80+. Most of it was trapped inside me! I was miserable! And then my husband gave me a head-to-toe lymphatic massage. I know Dr S says no massages, but a lymphatic massage is extremely gentle with the barest of pressure. Anyway, not half an hour after the massage was over, I started peeing literally every 5 minutes! I've been up most of the night because of this, but I don't care. The water is finally gone! Last edited by LilacBruze; 05-30-2011 at 06:13 AM.. |

I am not all peed out yet so I expect this to drop even more!
Seriously, I don't know what happened to me. The water retention was insane, and the more I drank, the more I held on to. I could literally feel and hear it sloshing around inside me. I recommend these lymphatic massages to anyone retaining water. It was literally a miracle! Google it and you can watch some demo videos. It's really not difficult and like I said, it's with an extremely light touch. VLCD24 for me, 19 lbs lost! Last edited by LilacBruze; 05-30-2011 at 06:20 AM.. |

I'll have to switch to a weekly losses mode in my signature and just put the details in my thread.

It will be interesting to track my progress this week, after the mini re-feed and the water weight gain. But for now, here are the net results from my first 3 completed weeks:
Week 1 - -3.8lbs net (not counting loading gain but if I did it would be -7.4lbs) Week 2 - -7.0lbs net Week 3 - -6.2lbs net |

I just made some P2 chili and beef and cabbage to put in containers for the next 5 meals. Shredded two heads of cabbage and cooked up two lbs of 96/4.
I stocked up on strawberries. I like them best as previously described - with some lemon juice and stevia all blended up with ice water in my Magic Bullet. I get my dessert plus an extra 16oz of water that way. ![]() I am ready for the work week. ![]() |

I had shrimp and cucumber tossed in lemon juice, garlic, cilantro, and cracked pepper for dinner. I have those fixins too but those are more "prepare fresh" kinds of food.
Pee patterns have resumed to mostly normal and I bounced on my rebounder about 20 different times today (just for a few minutes each). I am ready for a whoosh as well as the work week! |
