I wish I would have been prescribed 40 days. When I first started, I had no idea that hcg could go past the 23 days. Since I only lost 15lbs on the 23 day prescribed drops, I always wished I had the 40 day. But heck yea, I’m doing the 40 day next time. I would not be afraid of that. What I am afraid of are these P3 and P4 rounds.

TRY not to fear P3 and P4. I was a wreck - scared to death that the "magic" would stop and I'd gain all the weight back if I ate more. Then I started reading about people who gained if they didn't eat enough and I was 100% positive I was doomed. Turns out - both were fantastic! I ate food I really enjoyed (far more than I would have before I did P2) and I was really stable the whole time. You'll be ok and if you have any bumps along the way people are here to help you out.

By the way, I'm really, really looking forward to P3 and it's still 26 days away for me!

VLCD18 - interestingly enough, I ate a Granny Smith apple yesterday instead of strawberries with my lunch and am only down .4 lbs today. It was my first day of not losing at least .8 lbs since VLCD10. Nothing else changed except that so I am thinking apples and I don't get along as much as strawberries and I do. So - sticking to strawberries!

If it were me, I'd want to test that again down the road . . .
Our bodies are so affected by lots of things, including internal digestive stuff that we don't even know about. That's why weight loss is so non-linear, stalls happen, etc. Things aren't always related to what you just ate. So, you might have had that same weight loss regardless -- you wouldn't know if you don't try it again some other time.

(Hooray for the scientific method!)

I'm at about the same stage you are -- VLCD 17, and so far I've also lost every day (knocking on wood!!!!! loudly!). Your numbers have been great, I'm wishing I had your daily losses!

Normally, I'd think the same way and say that one time is not enough to judge. However, being diabetic, my glucose goes up when I eat an apple in a way that does not go up when I eat my strawberries. Sooo... because my blood sugar was higher last night and this morning, I'm sort of taking that as scientific enough, lol. I like strawberries more anyway. I think the apple was because I was craving something chewy and more substantial.

Having typed all that, I will say I had an orange today. It also spiked my glucose so that re-affirms I should be sticking with strawberries.

Also, CONGRATS on losing again FINALLY and TOM being here (I know you were concerned). I'm freaking out about P3 because I want to do it right and am afraid I'm gonna bungle it up. Call me kooky but I like the structure of P2.

You've got a lot of support here that won't let you fail. We all felt that way our first P3/P4. You can do it!

hi, dawn! i love the premiss of LC from a health aspect which is why i began a LC lifestyle. carbs didn't bother me except to keep me at an undesirable weight. i simply chose to not eat them anymore after i read what they do at the cellular level.

have a great wednesday!

Well, that's a whole different story! If you see a blood glucose difference, I'd surely follow that lead --

Lilac i sort of have mad this our unofficial "40 day buddy " thread.

Question:

Do you lose every day? or do you have days where you have large losses and nothing the next day? I ask because I lost 2.4 lbs yesterday but today nothing at all not even 1 oz. I ate perfect yesterday and drank all my water too.

Yes, I do. I know everyone says that will stop, but for now, I lose every day. Your thread on Dr. Oz saying homeopathic drops are only a placebo effect made me chuckle. If this is a placebo effect, I'll buy two, please!

Here are my stats, I had posted them in another thread. The last two days I have not eaten strawberries for both fruits. Monday I ate an apple and yesterday I ate an orange. Both spiked my blood sugar and coincidentally, I have had less loss:

5/5 Loading day 1: Weight 241.2

Loading day 2: Weight 244.2 (+3.0)

VLCD 1: Weight 244.8 (+.6)

VLCD 2: Weight 242.8 (-2.0)

VLCD 3: Weight 241.0 (-1.8)

VLCD 4: Weight 240.4 (-.6)

VLCD 5: Weight 239.4 (-1.0)

VLCD 6: Weight 239.0 (-.4)

VLCD 7: Weight 237.4 (-1.6)

VLCD 8: Weight 236.8 (-.6)

VLCD 9: Weight 235.8 (-1.0)

VLCD 10: Weight 235.4 (-.4)

VLCD 11: Weight 234.6 (-.8)

VLCD 12: Weight 232.8 (-1.8)

VLCD 13: Weight 231.2 (-1.6)

VLCD 14: Weight 230.4 (-.8)

VLCD 15: Weight 229.2 (-1.2)

VLCD 16: Weight 228.2 (-1.0)

VLCD 17: Weight 227.4 (-.8)

VLCD 18: Weight 227.0 (-.4)

VLCD 19: Weight 226.4 (-.6)

I just realized that I am at a set point. This is the lowest weight I've been at since my first attempt at Atkins 9 years ago. So I wonder if it's inevitable that I will slow down at this weight, apples or oranges be darned.

Have you tried freezing your strawberries and eating them partially frozen, so the texture would be different?

My boys like to eat frozen blueberries, straight from the freezer, because of the texture.

Or, it could just give you a huge brain freeze headache from chewing on something so cold . . . so, maybe, maybe not? LOL!

When I am struggling to get my last cups of water in, sometimes I will take my sliced strawberries and throw them in my Magic Bullet with crushed ice, a TB of lemon juice, a stevia packet, and water, and blend it all into a slushie. I love this!

Ya know, I have to say that I have been SUPER diligent during this time. I have not chewed sugarless gum, or drank a diet soda, or used my body/face creams. I have not even taken a pain reliever or cold medicine when I had a cold 2 weeks ago. No fiber or additional supplements outside of my multivitamin (which is VERY complete) and potassium. I have been extremely mindful of what goes in and on my body. I know this probably borders on obsessive compulsive paranoia... but I HAVE mentioned that I am throwing myself into this with passion and extreme motivation!

VLCD 19 here, and I've been spoiled with daily losses so far, also. Today was my first glitch -- up .5 despite following protocol yesterday by the book.

My only change is that for the first time I added in one grissini breadstick (trying to keep my body from going ballistic when I add back starches in P4, I thought I'd include them here and there). So, either I'm reacting to the starch, OR (my best guess) it's just the usual carb-holding-water thing (you know, starch turns to glucose and every molecule of glucose is held by two molecules of water . . . the reason for great early losses on LC), OR just a coincidence and my body's doing a little messing with my head.

I'm going to be zen about it and just keep doing what I'm supposed to do. Gorgeous lunch of shrimp, cukes, and strawberries -- thinking how awful P2 must be in the winter without fresh strawberries!

Great losses to all! 40 days or bust!

VLCD 20 - HALFWAY THERE!

Had a 1.2 lb loss, back on the strawberries yesterday. Made it past my set point and made my mini-goal! I am now at a weight I have not seen in 15 years.

I am soooo looking forward to what the next 20 days will bring!

That is simply fantastic!!! Way to go!

But I am a little shaky in math. How can it be a weight you haven't seen in 15 years? That would put you way back when you were 10 right????!!! You cannot possibly be older than what I am thinking

Hcg is the best thing to happen to me in a long, LONG time! I want to sing its praises on the rooftops! Seriously! 19.6 lbs in 20 days? Woo hoo!!

Thanks to EVERYONE here who has helped and supported me. I got a little weepy this morning when I stepped on the scale and saw I was at 225.2. 226 was my mini-goal as the lowest recorded weight that I can remember being in the past 15 years was 227.

I've always taken really good care of my skin, since being a teenager. And for the past 10+ years, have really been careful with sun exposure, etc.

NOW though... now comes the time when my body can catch up with my face! I'm learning to take much better care of my body and hopefully that will show just as much soon enough!

LOL dazy!! I, for one, do not feel 40. I celebrated my birthday last year like all the others. Drove my family nuts!! I think my kids hate to see July as much as I love seeing July!!! I get so happy when my birthday comes around---and it lasts for the whole month too. I don't feel any different in my 40s than I did in my 30s. Age is just a number to me. You are too kind.
