How do you decide your veggie portion size in P2?

I don't eat the melba/grissini and I find that 1 portion of 100g (3.5oz) of veggies and one portion of 200g (7oz) of veggies keeps me right around 500 cals. If you eat the melba/grissini, I have heard to keep it to 2 portions of 100g. YMMV

Hey Shelby, just want to make sure, did you mean to say 100 g (3.5oz) of meat instead of veggies with the first part?

I think she means she does two separate portions of veggies, one is 100g and one is 200g. One for each daily meal. She doesn't eat the grissini so she adds a little more quantity to her veggie portions.

Shelby?

I am adopting this and doing away with the melba toast. I just made beef and cabbage with 200g of cabbage and this was a very filling and satisfying dish.

Shelby?
I was thinking maybe she meant that too.

But would it not better to portion out the veggies equally between lunch and dinner, 150g at each meal or does it not make that much difference?

You certainly could! Maybe she prefers a little more food at one meal or another. She'll pop in.

That's what I was thinking. I know I typically am more hungry for dinner than lunch, so this 100/200 thing sounded ideal.

Yes it's 3.5oz of protein plus 100g of veggies at lunch and 3.5oz of protein and 200g of veggies at dinner. I don't split them up because I usually have raw veggies at lunch, i.e. lettuce or spinach (and 150g is a LOT of raw lettuce!) and cooked veggies for dinner (200g cabbage, endive, etc.).

I don't know if there's much to add to the excellent advice you've already been given by Shelby, Cathy, Catkin, etc. For me, I have been using ****** to add up my calories from coffee w/milk, lunch, and dinner protein, and from there decide how to add in my veg + fruit. I haven't used it every day b/c I eat a lot of the same things. I think Shelby's approach is actually the easiest. I definitely haven't had a problem going over calories -- I usually need more veg at night to make up the deficit.
