Learning once and for all I can never go back to eating the way I have in the past (the way that put this weight on, time and again), that I'm going to have to keep it lower carb and watch my portion control for the REST OF MY LIFE!!!

ditto to the amen. I think low carb is the key. You can have an occasional 'treat' but not every day.

WEIGH every day. Without fail, even on vacation. I took my scale with me clear to Europe for 2 weeks - and didn't gain at all, because I was watching it. Whatever the scale said that morning is how I ate for that day. When I went on a cruise, and thought there would be a scale in the gym area, I was wrong, and I gained 8 pounds in a week thinking I was watching it!

WEIGH every day! constant vigilance!

Here are my other tips for keeping weight off. I have done 4 sets of P3/P4's in between my 5 rounds, some with great success and some not so good.

Make sure to eat plenty of protein

Make sure to keep drinking lots of water

If you're on P4 and are going to eat some starch/sugar, keep it to one meal-preferably early in the day so your body can process it; eat protein/salad for evening meal if possible

Get plenty of rest - makes a huge difference in weight control

Do a steak day THE DAY your weight goes up - do NOT put it off - if you have to do another correction day, the Greek Yogurt and Berry day does almost as good and seems easier for some.

Follow a correction day with a lean day or you may boomerang

Make sure to eat ENOUGH. Oddly, lowering caloric intake except following a correction day can make you NOT maintain well enough. Refer to #1 - eat plenty of protein. I tend to start holding onto weight when my protein level goes down as I start eating some carbs-I tend to forget to eat enough protein as I increase other food groups. Protein must remain #1 for me.

Eat only healthy fats where possible - real butter, olive oil, egg yolk, real mayo, avocado etc - those crappy fats will get you.

Limit Sugar free chemical crap - for me, it causes weight gain almost as bad as real sugar. I do have it once in awhile, but when I go overboard with it, I certainly notice it.

Keep nuts and nut butters for after you're stable, and cut them out if you notice rapid increase in weight (noticed this one especially during my last maintenance period).

Beware of the 2-day effect - in other words, if you think you got away with something without a gain, wait till the next day to be sure it doesn't rise up and bit you in the @$$ the 2nd day. Go leanish after an indulgence day just to be sure.

Alcohol without sugary drink mixes are best. Alcohol by itself can make me put on water weight right away and real weight if I don't get it down by flushing with water the next day. About 2 pounds is my average for alcohol indulgence gain.

As much as I hate to think about this I believe it will probably be key. At least one day week I should weigh--because we all know how it can creep and the next thing you know.....

ETA: This and low carb eating, of course!

You are so right! The past few years when I was gaining back all the weight I had previously lost, I was a 'scale-phobe'. I wouldn't go near one even at the dr's office. This is partly because I had become addicted to it during my weight loss phase and the number dictated my mood for the day.

I am aiming for a healthy scale relationship.

I think you must weigh everyday in maintenance too, or the slow crawl back up will continue. IF you are watching it, you can stop it. If it dictates your day, probably just have to eat NICE so you will like the next day!
