dry skin solutions- anyone use coconut oil?

ok, I have really really bad dry skin

I usually use Aquaphor but it has a lot of oil in it

I read on Dr. Simeons site that you can use coconut oil

I happen to have a big jar of it because I use it to cook with

HOW DO YOU USE IT FOR LOTION? just apply after shower? just seems so weird

my skin is super dry since not putting anything on it for the past 5 days. trying my best not to use too much oil stuff

just shampoo/conditioner and my lipstick

oh and hair gel but not sure if that counts or not

I have no idea - I'm looking forward to the answer too. I'd like to keep my hands from bleeding - they get so dry from the lack of fat in the diet that they crack and bleed. ICK.

I do use Palmer's shea butter during P2, sparingly. It hasn't seemed to affect anything, and as long timers will point out, if you could absorb THAT much fat through your skin, massage therapists and nurses would weigh 500 pounds. I DO know that some of the gals here ARE MTs, for what that's worth.

I use Aveeno lotion for babies.
I thought we couldn't use coconut oil on our skin during P2.

Technically, no, it's an oil.... however, I do know folks who use it who swear it doesn't stop their weightloss. I dunno whether I would do it or not. Maybe in teensy, tiny amounts on particularly dry areas. My naturopath told me I could if I got desperate. I guess I never got desperate enough. I used an oil-free lotion instead.

Can you use an oil-free hand lotion? I have one for my face, it's Mary Kay. I wonder if it would work on your hands.

I've got a few others, but the Palmer's works the best with the least amount of problems - fragrances and some chemicals can really bother me, especially on broken skin. But thanks!

You're right about the massage therapists - I know a few who use hcg and they are fine. Who knows if they would lose a skosh faster. But a gal's gotta do what she's gotta do!

My MK face lotion doesn't have any fragrance at all. I hear you about the chemicals, though. My daughter switched to all coconut oil and is much happier. I used some while I was on my break this time and it was ok, I'm not a big lotion person usually anyway, except my tootsies and my cuticles. I much prefer a no-smelly lotion

Dr Simeon's does NOT have a website--he is dead. And no to the coconut oil. Over in bootcamp, Biz that gal that has lots of clients on the hcg says that when she has people who use coconut oil they don't do well on P2. I would not use the coconut oil on P2.

Nope, no coconut oil on P2. I have seen an experiment on my yahoo groups where there were those that used it in P2. Those that did had a very hard time stabilizing in P3. I would stay away. My opinion is stay away from it. I use creamy baby oil lotion.

FYI----- Here is a tip I just read in my "Diabetes Solution" book by Dr Bernstein. He was addressing foot problems of diabetics and doesn't suggest using Vaseline or baby oil on the feet because that oil is not absorbed by the body----the very reason Dr Simeons suggested baby oil. Because your body doesn't absorb it. therefore it won't digest it like you would coconut oil.

Yeah, Simeon's says no oil at all. He does allow mineral oil, which means you can use baby oil. I think the Weigt Loss Cure (also HCG) by Kevin Trudeau's does let you use Cocunut oil.

I don't use coconut oil in P2 but I do in P3 and it's great for the skin. In my "crunchy mamas" online boards, they use it for diaper rash and as a lotion for their babies. So I use it as a lotion sometimes too.
