I have been reading all of the posts and am doing hcg for the 1st time , I am also a 20 year Atkins girl , I got preganant at the age of 48 and even Atkins can not get this last 15 pounds off , so I am trying hcg, I also have trouble eating the fruit , does anyone have past experience with doing hcg and choosing not to eat the fruit , I spent $350 and don't want to not eat the fruit if I won't get maximum results from the hcg? help

I subbed a bit of extra fat and protein to make up for the fruit. As a hypoglycemic I just wasn't dealing well with the fruit. My losses (and hunger) improved when I made the switch.

Facinating
So Atkins is dietary ketosis triggered by sugar deficit and increased Lypolysis to compensate and fuel glucose generation to maintain BS. Ketones are wasted and weight is lost.
So do you think they would work together or would one over rule the other if a person left off the fruit and bread and did the rest exact protocol , and take the hcg injections, they would be in ketosis state and using Lypolysis , this fascinates me. I found one blog of a man who did this in round 3 of hcg but he did a very hard workout , he said his results were astounding compared to round 1 and 2 ! |

I think many have done well leaving off the fruit and grain, some people who have allergies or just didn't like the fruit choices. Since there are only a few tissue types that require glucose, and the body can produce glucose from fat and protein, there really is no physiolgical need to consume the extra sugars at all. I believe they are included to maintain a sense of normalcy in the diet, since he wants people to be able to stick to the diet, despite the restrictions and Dr. S found that these particular foods could be consumed while not hindering the ability of the protocal to work.
Working out seems like it would have beneficial effects especially if they are exercises that deplete blood sugars and force the body to burn more fuels to replenish and feed the body. As before certain tissue REQUIRE glucose and if you burn it up you force the body into gluconeogenisis, which requires the breakdown of fat and protein which draws on lypolysis further. I recall Dr. S warning off of exercise but only for the reason that muscle breakdown and regeneration from exercise could retain fluid, and might confuse the dieter into thinking they weren't losing effectively, but muscle building uses energy as well and rebuilt muscle burns more energy to boot. More mitochondria, more respiration, more ATP, more energy needed to supply that muscle. Seems like a positive cycle to be in.

Thank you that makes a lot of sense , I appreciate the information , I have lost 9 pounds in 6 days and have not ate the fruit in 2 days , because I put heavy creme in my coffee in the morning
2 tablespoons. I still feel I am cheating myself into knowing the truth about the protocol, I am struggling with set ways !! (spoiled) but...then I think I can do the Atkins anytime the rest of my life , and only have the money to do the injections once, so I may go back to protocol tomorrow for the rest of ph2 because I know in ph3 I can have the creme and I should have more self control than that !!!! |
