Starting Tomorrow!

I want to thank everyone here because without you all, I would have ordered the drops and proceeded to do this all WRONG! Your advice and experiences have really helped me get a better understanding of everything!

So... tomorrow is my birthday (yay 42) and I will begin my loading days. I would have even done loading wrong without this forum because I was all set to just eat whatever I wanted, NOT concentrating on eating high fat while still watching starches and sugars. I am stocked up on avocado, eggs, peanut butter, macadamia nuts, even a cheesecake that I plan on eating sans crust. I will be going out for a birthday dinner (Mexican of course, it IS Cinco de Mayo) where I will be eating a nice big steak with lots of gaucamole and sour cream. The second day I will have deep dish pepperoni pizza with mostly no crust.

As far as the diet, I am also stocked up on chicken breast, cucumbers, apples, and melba toast. I have a brand new filter in the Brita pitcher, and a new kitchen scale to weigh out the chicken.

I. Am. Ready!

Thanks everyone!

Ya know, I have NEVER begun a diet EVER with so much enthusiasm! But I am SO looking forward to this journey!

Question though: basically after the 500 calories, you do 3 weeks of what is essentially Atkins, right?

Yes--very similar to Atkins!! But without the low carb tortillas LOL. And you can keep the fruits in from P2 as well. Berries with whipped cream are my go to treat on P3. I love P3 Just be sure to keep to the rules of no sugar and no starch and you will do fine.

LOL thanks Dawn! That shouldn't be a problem as I have not done anything with a low carb substitute on my 9 weeks of Induction. Everything has been real food that is naturally low carb!

I just realized that by the time I finish P2, my strawberry patch should be ripe! Last year I had over 20 pints of fresh berries by the beginning of June! This year I will keep them out of the margarita blender though, lol!

I have a gift for you! You do NOT have to eat Low Carb on the loading days. EAT WHAT YOU WANT, WITH NO GUILT. Some say to eat low carb, but I didn't and I have read plenty of others who also just ATE. I have never had a problem with hunger, from the get-go.

Do what you feel comfortable with doing, but if I were you, you know I'd eat it all. Enjoy!

Thanks! I don't mind loading on lowER carb since I am diabetic and I am used to eating LC anyway. But you noticed I said MOSTLY no crust, lol. What good is a Chicago deep dish pizza if you can't eat the crust???

Missy, my mom had a heart attack 3 days before Christmas. She had 100% blockage in an artery and we almost lost her. This is a 130 lb woman who has always eaten low fat and low calorie and her cholesterol was tested at 404! She just had a pacemaker put in 3 weeks ago because there was so much damage, and it turned out that she had secretly been SMOKING for all the years she had said she quit (like um, 20!) All these years she has been blaming my health and weight issues on my paternal, overweight grandmother, who died of heart issues at age 67, when it's HER genes I now know are to blame! So needless to say, my mom is a big reason why I decided to get healthier in 2011! If it can happen to my skinny mom, it can happen to anyone!

And my puppy thanks you! We love her lots and are blessed that she came into our lives! However, I miss the days of when I had shoes WITHOUT teeth marks in them!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and good luck. I am so glad I found this forum and as I've said, I am SO looking forward to making this journey with you all!

Sneaking cigs on the sly for 20 years? She must have been good at it! Genes are so important, aren't they? We can't do much about them. They are ours, like it or not. For better or worse!

I love your chewy puppy, too! I'm a big dog lover, but love all animals. I feel for your shoe situation, though. I hope you keep posting here about your journey! It's great to have company along the way.

My dad has been saying for years that he smelled it on her (he's a reformed smoker too) but every time he confronted her, she denied it. I smelled it once on her too and she denied it with me. But when she was laying on the gurney in ER and the doc asked her, well, she couldn't deny it any more!

Our puppy technically belongs to my daughter, but I have really bonded with her and since I take care of her and spoil her, I *do* consider her mostly mine. She is a Shih-Tzu/Pekingnese mix, only 9 months old. I hope she grows out of the shoe chewing thing though, even though it's adorable to see her trot around with one in her mouth and watch her as she "worries" it.

Thanks! I am at work eating crustless cheesecake and everyone who knows I am on a diet is looking at me like I'm insane. I'll just let them think I'm indulging for my birthday.

It was absolute HEAVEN to drink a tall, cold glass of Vitamin D milk this morning!

I must admit, I was a little nervous this morning as I weighed myself before eating. I know your weight goes up during loading and that I shouldn't be concerned, but I've worked SO hard to get it where it is that it caused me a little twinge of panic. I will try REALLY hard to not think about it though, and enjoy my food!

Right! This is a whole new deal and you can't hold back with your load days. The last thing you want to experience when you get to the 500 calorie phase is hunger.

Enjoy your special day! Hope your mom is finally done with the smokes.
