Sure. It's L Glutamine. Julia Ross says in the book that your brain is calling for fuel and that translates into a sugar craving. The L glutamine is an amino acid that the brain can use (glutamine like glucose) and stops the craving without the sugar.

It sure is working for me. I was getting ready to leave work, pretty hungry and thinking about chocolate. I took a couple capsules and by the time I got home, meh.

Day 1 is almost over. THANK GOODNESS!!!
I'm still hungry which I'm not sure if it is hunger or just me wanting to stuff my mouth like usual.

I did have a rude awakening today though. I met goal right before our cruise back on March 24th. I felt great. I went to put on a pair of shorts today that I had worn on the cruise and they were so tight and uncomfortable. 10 lbs does a lot of damage on a short person. So if I wasn't sure before, I KNOW now that I have to do this.

How is EVERYONE else doing?

Day 2 is underway and I am dreading these next 19 days. I am not hungry but just want to stuff my face right now.

I did lose the 3 lbs I gained from loading and boy did I load so that is great!

I am still 8 pounds from my original goal and I need to remember that I need to reach that goal and go further. I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!

Has anyone done Pilates while on P2? I need to do something about this flab and about 5 years ago I had great success with Pilates. It really toned me up.

Also has anyone gone to TGI Fridays while on P2? It is dd9's bday on Saturday and that is where she wants to go. I'm sure they most likely have a salad with grilled chicken and I can bring some WF dressing.

SO HOW IS EVERYONE ELSE DOING?

Hi Donna,

It's my 2nd very low calorie day too (and my 2nd round of HCG). The scale showed me down 1.4 pounds this morning. I gained 2.4 during my load days so I still have one more to go. I'm hanging in there! I'll confess though that I find myself worrying that I should have lost more (2 or 3?) my first day. 1.4 pounds is a nice loss for sure - but not very good for the very first day so I'm already stressing it might be a "sign" that I won't have very good losses. I make myself a little crazy though. So, for now I'm telling myself to just settle in for the long haul and do the right things every day and just hang tight for the scale changes to come in as they will...

I understand completely. We just want it gone now!
I'll be posting my results, etc. on the P2 and Simeons Protocol weekly threads--you all should come and join in! There are lots of supportive, knowledgeable people there.

Hi Donna,

Doing well on Day 2, but I also have some hunger. A lot of folks say that's normal for the first couple of days. I'm looking at it as a positive -- it's nice to actually be aware of hunger for once since I normally would just feed my face and not even experience the true desire for food. I'm also looking at it one day at a time instead of 23 days, which could be overwhelming right now.

No advice on the TGIF. I'd probably eat my dinner at home and then just have some iced tea or mineral water there, but I'm really just planning to take a couple of weeks off from going out right now. I go out way too much and I tend to eat/drink too much because of it.

Stay strong! We're going through this together!

They say the average loss is 1/2 pound per day, right? So 1.4 sounds okay to me. I gained way more than you on my loading days, so I don't really have a loss yet (I'm still 2.4 above my pre-load weight). But then again, since today is VLCD2, I've only weighed after one VLCD day. You too, right? I'm sure you'll get rolling on the losses soon!

Another 1.6 down this morning. That brings me to preload weight.

I am pretty happy. I have been working out and running, so I have upped my protein.

The amino acids (especially L glutamine) have made a WORLD of difference this time. I always felt like I could gnaw my arm off before (I think I had 3 or 4 failed rounds before this one).

Yay! Me too I hit my pre-load weight this a.m., so starting tomorrow it's all real weight loss. And I'm doubly happy b/c my pre-load weight was pretty new anyway (I lost several pounds before I started hcg). Yay us!!!

I take l-glut too. In fact, I think I need a bit right NOW -- hungry!

Newbie<-- me

I just started loading yesterday... I wanted to get started right away and I am a night owl, so I took hcg at 1pm I usually go to bed around 2-3am. Lots of high fat foods, it's been harder than I thought it would be to eat every couple hours, but strangely (to me) I didn't bloat up and get huge like usual, my clothes are fitting fine. I do have a lot of life stuff going on... could be criticized for bad timing... but my life is always an adventure, so it's not new to me. However, I do need to get scales and such. So, the end of my "Loading" will be 1pm tomorrow... presumably. Very soon I will not be in transition and can prepare meals ahead of time. So, I will shop in the morning and get the items I need for vlcd. I'm nervous and excited and will get scales tomorrow too... but I don't have an exact start weight until then. Great posts - very helpful. ~cat

Hey... thanks for the welcome! ...what do you say about cats, if birds of a feather flock together... cats of a of a whisker - shred pounds quicker!LOL! Friendy's i'm having some hunger issues... I've been strict on protocol on day 2 P1.... just having trouble concentrating on computer work at hand, distracted by... empty belly syndrome... I think I shall go make some tea...

I would like to share my 'on the fly' recipe today... shrimp steamed with celery and onions drizzled with lime and black pepper was TASTY!

regarding eating out.......

today I had a huge family dinner because my husband got his masters degree. I ended up ordering a fillet and cutting it in 1/3's and requested they grill it with no oil or sauce just plain. I also got a green salad with lettuce only and no dressing at all. I was SO full after I finished. I didn't feel I missed out on eating a nice lunch.

That was an amazing reality check, just typing out the possible 40 lbs in 40 days... i could lose... I haven't cheated so far... (Day 2, woohoo!) but i feel HUNGRY! What's a little hunger... hunger right now is my friend because I'm not hurting myself like depriving and causing my metabolism to go in starvation mode... I'm in charge here! Not my tummy.... (that was so weird, when I just mentally said "I'm in charge here..." my hunger backed down) Our brains and bodies are phenomenal machines. OK. This plan is working. This is going to work... soon the hunger will fade... in 40 days I could be in 2 sizes smaller! Currently 18's - I will definitely be in my 16's and my oh so desirably preferred size 14 jeans are wearable around 225 - 233 is only 8 little lbs from 233... I'm doing this thing. I'm doing it, I'm doing it!!!!!

do you do the drops? Im not sure how those work but if hunger is a continued issue reduce the amount you are taking. i did and its helped a ton! Im usually starving at night and im totally fine right now. I reduced just today and already i feel better.

Interesting... actually, just goofing off here for awhile, I'm feeling better now... empty, but good. This plan is so different, finding the right amount, not the normal tendency that more is better, not always the case, I see in many posts. Thank you for the tip, tho. I'm doing the rx inj. type.

I've been strict on protocol... I had a couple challenges yesterday... and ended up having chicken breast for both 'meals' but other than that... what happened was I had to go help someone with their website and they wanted to take me to lunch... I said ok... (hoping there would be good choices. I couldn't find what I wanted on the menu so just asked the waitress if I could have a breast of chicken without oil over a bed of spring greens and she said yes. (whew! got lucky) but I had prepared some boiled chicken with onions, green peppers and garlic powder and had ready to eat if I couldn't find the right food. So that's what I ate later for my other meal. I had some strawberries for a snack and a small peach... I've been drinking tons of water (over required) but I have also been very busy and although not terribly strenuous, I have been walking and carrying stuff a little more than usual. I have not been as much of a night owl (probably because I'm tired) so I backed the shot up from 1pm to 12 and then 10 am and I think it will be better, it was hard waiting till nearly 4pm for first meal, when in my new place, I haven't been on the later type work schedule. I am STOKED ABOUT THESE INITIAL LOSSES... Hoping it wasn't just water and now I'm going to stall like most diets... so, we shall see.
