Share your HHCG rogue/alternative plan here
Deb294ever has started a great ongoing weekly thread for those of us who do not strictly adhere to the Simeon Protocol, but do use HCG (either Rx or homeopathic) to help us reach our weight loss goals. That thread has been awesome for support and sharing ideas, but it moves along pretty fast and there is so much variation in plans, that it's hard for newcomers to figure out what the heck we're doing.
This thread is for us to be able to share the plan we have worked out with others, ask and answer questions about those plans, etc. It is just fine to refer people to your LCF journal for more details about what you are doing. And once you lay out your plan on this thread, you can then use the link to refer people to that. I think it will help a lot with the flow of information. An excellent start for anyone interested in HCG would be to read the original Simeon Protocol, Pounds and Inches: http://www.hcgbodyshaper.com/simeon.pdf Once you have done your homework and you are interested in further tailoring a plan to suit your body and lifestyle, then here is where you can learn what others are doing. Good luck on your weight loss journey! Oh, and here are some rogue/alternative recipes: HCG P2 Rogue Recipes

Thanks for the thread, Mermaid!
My 'rogue' plan - -1 fruit per day (at night) either apple or strawberries - mix veggies and eat non-starchy veggies not on the list (broccoli, green beans, etc) - my veggie portions may be larger than recommended - my protein portions exceed 3.5 oz - eat lean beef daily - eat a protein snack such as sliced meats or hb egg as an afternoon snack - my calories run from 650 to 700/day I lost 13 post-load lbs in R1 and am on VLCD Day 4 of R2. |

I have worked up a template that might help cover all the information a newcomer might like to have about your plan. Feel free to use it, or not. Just whatever you would like to share!
What type/brand of HCG are you using? What is your basic plan? What sources of protein do you eat and how much? What kind of veggies do you eat and how much? Do you eat fruit or bread, if so what kinds? Why do you follow that particular plan? How is that working for you? Care to share a sample menu or list of food you eat? Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? Do you use skincare products that contain oils? Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? What kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? Has your health improved on HCG, if so in what ways? Last edited by mermaid; 03-31-2011 at 07:19 AM.. |

My Rogue Plan:
--Calories range from 500-900 --No fruit --No grissini --I mix veggies, but mostly eat salads --Beef frequently (almost daily) --Whole eggs - 2 to 3 as a meal. --1+ TBS of real salad dressing (homemade ranch or 1000 Island) at each meal. --I use all my lotions/soaps, etc. --Larger protein servings, anywhere from 4 to 6 ounces. --I eat dark meat chicken occasionally --I eat pork loin. --I eat occasional salmon. I use calories as my big picture, eating pretty much whatever protein I want and just accounting for calories. If I do eat salmon for dinner, then lunch will be a very low-calorie protein like shrimp, fish, or chicken breast. Last edited by Kateenie; 03-31-2011 at 07:24 AM.. |

I eat only chicken & beef for meals - although this round I am going to eat eggs as a meal once in a while. I do eat a hb egg daily as a snack. I do eat the 'bread' - grissini or melba rounds. I take supplements (always have): vit, mineral, 5htp, fish oil, psyllium husk. I use baby oil on my legs as moisturizer - everything else the same as normal. I did not exercise R1 but am going to try to walk more this round. I am afraid that more strenuous exercise like aerobics or elliptical will awaken my appetite. I did 3 weeks of P3 and one week of P4 and maintained quite well (no CD's). Sample menu: L: salad w/ salsa & cooked beef or chicken (4 oz) OR soup made from canned broth, veggies & meat plus melba S: hb egg w/ hot sauce and sometimes an ounce or two of sliced meat D: P2 chili w/ added veggies like a small zucchini, grissini S: an apple cut up w/cinnamon & stevia or a bowl of thawed strawberries w/stevia, sometimes coffee or herbal tea

What type/brand of HCG are you using?
Vox hhcg Pellets. Love 'em! I am almost never hungry. What is your basic plan? A combination of OWL and Simeons. I use PAM spray for frying. I average 500 cals per day. What sources of protein do you eat and how much? Ground Sirloin, Chicken tenders, Shrimp, rarely Fish. Roughly 100 grams twice a day. What kind of veggies do you eat and how much? Rotel tomatoes with Chilies in my burger or on my chicken/fish, rarely a salad. Do you eat fruit or bread, if so what kinds? A Gala Apple once a day (or not), 6 Strawberries (or not.) Smart Pop Orville Redenbacher's popcorn, 100 calorie bag (with "I can't believe it's not butter" spray and powdered Popcorn cheese [or seasonings like Emeril's Essence.]) Once I ate Grissini's but mostly its popcorn. Why do you follow that particular plan? It's easy to live on and still enjoy! How is that working for you? Great! Lost almost 13 lbs in 15 VLCD's. Can't complain! (And I'm Hypothyroid and Postmenopausal.) Care to share a sample menu or list of food you eat? B- (sleep late) Coffee with liquid Splenda (aka Ez Sweetz.) (I drink coffee all day long.) Maybe a fruit. L- 100 (roughly; usually 108) gm Ground Sirloin, fried in a pan with 1/4- 1/2 can of Rotel, sea salt, cracked pepper and garlic powder. D- Lately, the same thing. Or 100 gm (roughly) shrimp with 50 gm of LC Ketchup and Horseradish (plain, not creamy.) S- Bag of the popcorn with butter spray and cheese powder. Lots of both. Or fruit. Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? A good Multi, Calcium + D (twice a day), Magnesium (twice a day), B-complex, C, and Potassium Gluconate. For constipation I take Pericolace, fiber, or Dulcolax tabs. I also take Ibuprofen and Benadryl every night. (lots of Rx's, too.) Do you use skincare products that contain oils? Not much. No makeup, lotion on my hands on occasion. Sometimes a creamy medicated lotion to some eczema on wrists. Chapstick and lotion to lips. Cinnamon toothpaste. Avoid mints and camphor. Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? Not at all. Very sedentary. Plan to start working out a few times a week in P3, using Kettlebells. What kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? Atkins '72. Depending on how stable I can get in P4, I will enjoy an occasional starch in maintenance. I would love to enjoy pizza or pasta sometimes. And MEXICAN food. Has your health improved on HCG, if so in what ways? Don't really feel "better" than when I was doing Atkins, but don't feel any worse, either. I feel great! I have been noticing cystic type acne the last week, but the first week my oily complexion actually got better and skin was clear. Some say it is the toxins (and hormones) being released from the fat cells that are working their way out of my system. I try to drink a lot of water, but when my coffee consumption is up, the water consumption goes down. Note: I have done an Apple Day once so far, to break a stall of 7 days. It worked very well for me with no rebound water weight. But if the stalls become a regular thing, I'll be ditching the grain.

I'm feeling good! Plan to maintain LC, with the occasional off-plan treat. Hoping to stabilize easily and be able to add sweet potatos, hummus and frozen yogurt to my daily plan. Worked well last P3/P4!

What type/brand of HCG are you using?
Rx Injections - currently dosing @ 150iu / morningWhat is your basic plan? One day at a time! lolWhat sources of protein do you eat and how much? I prefer beef, but also include chicken tenderloins, shrimp and adding scallops and 0% GY for this extended round. What kind of veggies do you eat and how much? Cucs, tomatoes, red raddishes, cabbage and lettuces mostly... mixing them this go round. Plan on adding peppers,Do you eat fruit or bread, if so what kinds? Apples, oranges, strawberries and blueberries. I do the two Melbas a day.Why do you follow that particular plan? I have come to the conclusion that there may not be an issue in developing immunity to hcg.How is that working for you? We'll see! lol I have planned 'carb up' days during this extended phase... for mental and nutritional reasons.Care to share a sample menu or list of food you eat? Not that exciting! Typical vlcd menu...Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? Currently I take DIM, maca root and calcium d glucarate for HBing... I also take a 'complete' multivit andDo you use skincare products that contain oils? Yes. No change in these things in my first round, and don't plan on changing anything on this extended round. I like the cleansing conditioner for my hair tooo much! I also use lotions because I live in the high desert...very dry climate.Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? Nope! Unless you count shopping! lolWhat kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? I did a full (21 day) p3 after my first treatment phase, during which time I decided to go back into this extended treatment phase (skipping p4) to goal. I then plan to go back to p3 eating with planned carb up days (and steak days as needed! lol). That is the plan!Has your health improved on HCG, if so in what ways? Ummm... I am healthy, beyond the jacked up hormones. I feel much better while dosing with hcg... but I believe that is because it is boosting my HBing....which is my ultimate goal. Girls, this was so helpful for me to see your rogue plans. I am eating protocol and was thinking rogue meant people eating whatever and still losing. Though I dreamed that, you all confirmed for me that it still had to be controlled. bummer!!! Thanks and I'll see you on our other thread.

I guess I'm more rogue than I thought. LOL
I eat turkey almost exclusively (taco salads for most every meal) and I use pre-packaged taco seasoning. I forego my fruits except once or twice/week. I forego my melba. I will eat cottage cheese and/or eggs as my protein several times/week. I use 2T coffeemate creamer every morning, but include it in my calorie count. I stick to 500 cals, but may go over some a few times per week. I drink Diet soda a couple times per week. I've been known to dip my spoon in the jar of PB.  I take my drops whenever.

). I always eat my fruit, both servings. Sometimes I eat the melba, sometimes I don't. I have been known to eat a turkey sandwich with light mayo and low carb/calorie bread. I have a real coke once a week. If I want a bite(or 3) of something, I have it. I have lost almost every day except during TOM and after my luncheon at work yesterday. Tonight I am doing a refeed through tomorrow night then back to my "plan" until I have lost another 10-12 lbs. I do try to take my drops at the same time each day bt not always.... |

What type/brand of HCG are you using?
I'm using Rx HCG from India, mixed for sublingual drops. I ran out and switched to hhcg for about a week and then went back to the Rx when it arrived. Lost throughout! What is your basic plan? At breakfast, eat one of my veggies for the day. At lunch, 200g 0% fage greek yogurt and fruit (usually some type of berry). At dinner, 2 ground beef meatballs that also have spinach in them, as well as onions, breadcrumbs, and egg; homemade tomato sauce; either zoodles or spaghetti squash. Snack before bed: 200g 0% fage greek yogurt, fruit (usually some type of berry). Some days I also include 50 calories worth of smart pop popcorn if I'm feeling noshy. I added the extra calories/protein in the form of 2 meatballs on day 23 of this round. My losses have been the same or *better* since doing this. I use daVinci's sf syrups liberally, as well as flavored stevia drops, and 0 calorie I can't believe it's not butter spray. I have either acorn squash or spaghetti squash at least once a day. The other veggie I will eat for that day is usually green beans or zucchini (in the form of zoodles). I lost my taste for both brussel sprouts and spinach on this round, so I don't eat them any more (except some spinach in the meatballs). I also have drinks 1-2 times a week (rum and diet's...wine stalls me or causes gains). If I'm feeling a real need for something off plan, I generally do it. A few days this round, I had a huge craving for basmati rice. In general, this is about once a week that I have a huge craving and follow it. It's been rare I had a gain from eating off-plan, as I don't tend to eat huge amounts of things that are off-plan. Some days when I've done this, I've even had a loss the next day (sometimes a bigger loss than on-plan-eating-days!) I am using the same hair care, skin care, makeup, lotions, etc. that I used before this round. Why do you follow that particular plan? When I read info on the OWL modifications, I was thrilled. I felt confident to add extra calories, though on OWL they seem to take the form of grains, and I think protein is a better choice for me. I do include things on the OWL program that aren't on strict protocol including squashes (acorn, spaghetti) and not only do they taste great but they're working great for me too. 0 calorie I can't believe it's not butter spray is a gift from the gods!! I feel like I'm splurging when I have it on popcorn. I did a 40 day strict protocol round a year or two ago, and at this point I'm at I felt really weak and lethargic. This round, I feel great! (VLCD34). I'm also planning on staying on P2 til goal, with a bit of refeeding along the way. Again, OWL modifications and the option of refeeds have made it much easier mentally for me to do this. How is that working for you? Great! Really excellent so far. : ) I don't feel weak, ravenous or starved. My losses in this week of this round (week 5) have been the highest I've had in any week so far. I'm on VLCD34, and down 19 lbs. I do think it's possible I'm losing more slowly because yogurt is my main protein; with that said, I'm happy with the loss rate I'm at, and I'm even happier that I'm *enjoying* my meals (meat was making me very nauseous the first several days this round...but the meatballs I added on day 23 seem to not trigger this). Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? Potassium, magnesium, biotin, multivite, vitamin C, B12, glucomannan (for Bernice!), probiotics Do you use skincare products that contain oils? Yep, some of my skincare does include oils. Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? I haven't exercised at all so far this round. I plan on starting to walk on Monday. I only haven't done it so far because I hadn't been exercising prior to this round...I had been sick for several months and had to stop exercising, which is partially why I gained weight and jumped on hcg again! But if I had been exercising prior to this round, I would have continued. What kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? I haven't really decided yet. |

As low as the Simeon protocol is for protein, what you are doing is quite a bit lower. I would not recommend it for more than three days or so. I am a believer in having pretty liberal fats in the diet (varies for the individual), but the problem is when you try to go to starvation diet levels (500 calories) you hardly get any protein at all. Even at 1,200 calories of 80% fat it would be protein deficient. Dr. Atkins used to advocate a fat fast (Kekwick diet), for metabolically resistant patients, but only to be done for a few days at a time. It is 1,000 calories of 80% fat, but some do a version that is 1,200 calories. I have done the 1,2000 calorie version on three occasions to shake up my weight loss, and it worked great, but I felt very sick on it every day. These are just my thoughts, not like laying down the law here. I am very into experimentation, and even though I think dietary fats are healthy, I think adequate protein should be part of the plan too. I am trying for 80 grams of protein (based on extensive dieting history for my own body), some good fats, and a few veggies, which ends up being about 1,000 to 1,200 calories. You may not want to go that high in calories, but I think a happy medium might be 800 or so at least until you feel more stable and less hunger. Again, just my thoughts. I am a believer in freedom to do what is right for you! Hope you keep in touch and let us know how it's going! |

It looked very interesting to me too, but being diabetic I think it would really whack out my system too much. |

What type/brand of HCG are you using?
oral HHCG drops What is your basic plan? walk up one hour, light weights. Mix vegtables, eat off protocol veggies. I allow up to 800 calories a day. I eat gluten free cracker instead of melba. I usually have one or two apples a day. I use pam and splenda. So a lot of what I do is the OWL plan. What sources of protein do you eat and how much? Chicken mostly. 4 ounces cooked twice a day. some fish, very lean hamburger, turkey and even ham. What kind of veggies do you eat and how much? Mostly lettuce and broccoli. but I add extra veggies to my salads. I keep away from beans except green. I don't do corn or peas at this point. Do you eat fruit or bread, if so what kinds? My bread is fat free pretzels or Crunchmaster sesame gluten free crackers. Why do you follow that particular plan? Since I can't have dairy and calcium supplements keep bernice away I need the broccoli for calcium. I mix my veggies to add flavor and reduce boredom. How is that working for you? My first two rounds went great although with the first one I was more strict. This one has been slow. I also did an interruption for the first time. I feel really well this round, no weakness or leg cramps that I have had before. Care to share a sample menu or list of food you eat? I really don't do recipes for this. For breakfast I usually have my crackers, then lunch is usually chicken and veggies. Today was chicken and grilled zucchini, onion and pepper. Then I had an apple for my afternoon hungries. Supper was a huge salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, onions and more chicken. I may have some more veggies before bed. I am thinking of raw cauliflower with hickory salt. Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? Potassium, Magnesium, B12, multivitamin, Acai, Probiotic, fiber Do you use skincare products that contain oils? Yes but I limit it. Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? I try to walk every day, do light weights, and stretching What kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? After my last round I did a strict maintenance and did well. I basically doubled the VLCD diet and added fat back in. No steak days. This round I plan on going longer and lose slower. Has your health improved on HCG, if so in what ways? My gut feels better that's for sure. Although Bernice can be an issue as long as I don't feel bloated then what's the problem, right? I have learned a lot about my triggers and good eating habits. I really like eating low calorie. It's very freeing having fewer choices in what you can eat. I haven't had any lab work done but would like too. __________________

What type/brand of HCG are you using?
Natural Health Labs Homeopathic hCG Drops - Alcohol Free What is your basic plan? Simeon's was my starting point. However... I keep my calories between 300 and 700 I do not eat any grains (melba or grissini) I increased my protein to about 8 oz, twice a day, depending on how I feel (some days, I only eat 8 oz at lunch OR at dinner) I sometimes use Jay Robb whey protein shakes I do eat strawberries or put frozen ones in my shakes if they're around I do NOT eat the apples, oranges, grapefruit, or any other fruit I rarely get all of my veggies in in a day What sources of protein do you eat and how much? I eat chicken (8-9 oz 1-2x a day), beef steak (usually about 5 oz), and Jay Robb Dreamsicle Whey Protein (1 scoop with 1 cup water and 1 cup frozen strawberries) What kind of veggies do you eat and how much? Cucumbers with salt, steamed/grilled asparagus, cabbage soup...until I'm full. Do you eat fruit or bread, if so what kinds? No bread. Strawberries only. Why do you follow that particular plan? Because it works for me, makes sense with the research I've done, and allows me to stay on track. How is that working for you? Very well. See my signature... Care to share a sample menu or list of food you eat? Breakfast: 32 oz water & Yerba mate tea (really helps with any hunger that might pop up!) Lunch: 32 oz water, sometimes more tea, and a chicken breast, grilled with Creole Seasoning Dinner: 32 oz water, tea, sometimes another chicken breast or beef steak, sometimes asparagus (about 20 spears usually) Do you take supplements, and if so what kind? Copied from a recent PM: Morning:Do you use skincare products that contain oils? I stopped using my favorite Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil, but I do still use face cream. Do you exercise, and if so, what type and how much? At this point, I do not, but am planning to get back into heavy weight lifting once settled in P3 for a while (we don't eat P4 in our home, anyway, except on rare occasion). What kind of maintenance plan have you done or plan on doing? Maintenance will forever be P3 in a Paleo (plus dairy, God willing) lifestyle. It's just how our family tries to eat. Has your health improved on HCG, if so in what ways? hHCG has REMOVED my hypothyroid symptoms. I pray that I continue to feel this well when I'm no longer on the homeopathic drops. It has been a LIFESAVER for me. |

Thanks Jazzle for your info on the supplements, and food. Made me think a little. I need more protein, too, rest pretty much the same.

Way too much time on my hands!

Bumping this for our new friends who've been asking about alternative plans.
I'm on R2D14. I recently tweaked my plan because I gained 4.2 pounds in two days while almost on protocol. My previous deviations were occasionally mixing veggies, allowing cauliflower, and allowing 1 oz bourbon one day a week. I was feeling weak and sick. For my new plan: I've increased protein. I interchange veggies/fruit calories and I skip the melba. It's still about 500 calories. The extra protein really helps. Also, I do not worry about rotating protein for each meal. This is Day 5 of the new plan. It is working for me. I lost my mystery gain and am now into new weight territory again. Here's a recent menu: For the day, eat when I want it.... up to 9.5 oz chicken (300 cal) 3.3 oz strawberries (30) (that's a half serving) 6.7 oz asparagus (40) 13 oz cucumber (40) 5 oz romaine or salad greens (20) lemon juice, coffee, 1 Tbl walden farms dressing, onion powder, cinnamon and herbs. (60) =490 for the day I have a list of portion sizes if anyone is interested.
