Check out the "hcg alternatives" thread. It looks like some of those ladies are doing variations of Atkins/low-carb. Not Simeon's protocol, but some seem to be doing very well their way.

I am not sure how well this would work, only because of the high fat aspect of Atkins. HCG works within your body to release and burn stored fat, when combined with a reduced fat/calorie intake. If you are taking in too much fat and calories, GAIN may be the result.

Ok time for some tough love here.
Are you doing atkins with zero fat? I could understand that, but not Atkins and Hcg. This might cause a gain in pounds as well as stored fat... so imagine with hcg your bloodstream flowing with nutrients and your stored fat then you add more, sounds dangerous to me. This diet is not a do it yourself diet. There are rules set in place for a reason. I think this is a recipe for disaster. This is where people go so far off the beaten path that they start having adverse effects. hCG is NOT an appetite suppressant people!!! You might lose for a couple days and that may be water weight, but after that my guess is gain. Be careful please.

This is for everyone... I have so much love for this WOE I don't want people to be led astray and at the cost of their self confidence. How awful would it be if I came along as a newbie and saw someone suggest Atkins/hcg info then decided to do it too but it backfired and I started gaining weight? We are all human and curiosity tempts us to challenge everything even if it's in writing for a reason, I myself have been guilty of this but I'm talking about things like to load or not to load on a second round within 2 weeks of a first round etc... Not things like do I have to eat my fruit? YES you do! If you want it bad enough follow the protocol like its your bible. Not everyone gets my kind of results and maybe thats for a reason. Okay, I'm done now, lol |

I TOTALLY agree with your position – absolute 100%. Yea, it takes work and effort and we can’t expect to tweak the program so much that we’re comfortable, but yet still expecting to lose as much as we do on protocol. |

Ok.
Huh? I don't care if you're swimming in a tub of lard every day while you drink HCG milkshakes, I'm just curious what in the world you are doing. Are you saying that you are eating Atkins, (high fat), and doing drops and losing? Or do I need to just go back and read this thread again.....like I graduated second grade? |

Well, I would love to see Tony8888 come back and tell us because I too am dying to know. But seeing how 7/12 was his/her signup date and this was the first and only post... well... I don't know what to think.

The OP of this thread has a pretty long journal that can be found on LCF. I read a bit of it and was completely baffled by how she was eating 2500 calories a day and taking hcg drops and losing weight almost every single day. This seems to go against everything we know about hcg and protocol. Baffled, and obviously very, very jealous. But in doing the math, wouldn't you have to a) have a BMR of a gazillion, and b) somehow have your body burning upwards of 6000 calories a day to have any type of loss? THAT is the truly confusing part.

Ok, this is what I came here to find out. My doctor seems to prescribe things to me and have very little info on it so I'm glad I came here. I won't be doing the hcg drops because I believe in Atkins and don't want to give it up. And I don't want to gain 10 pounds in a week :-) So thanks soooo much, guys and good luck to all of you!

Most of us believe in Atkins too, and have done Atkins and will return to an Atkins way of eating. For many of us, Atkins stopped working, and it was time to try something else. HCG works, but is not for everyone. You need a lot of discipline, much more than Atkins unfortunately. The great thing about the weight you gain from loading (whether it be 2 lbs or 10) is that you lose it within the first 72 hours after being on the 500 calories. Just as an FYI.

It seems to work well for me though. I basically don't consume carbs that don't come from vegetables. So typically I would eat chicken with asparagus and mushrooms. Or I may eat a steak with broccoli. I may eat fish with coli flower. I think you get the idea. I don't over consume fat and protein. I find that when not eating any carbs and I'm eating vegetables as my source of protein containing little or no net carbs, and eating protein rich food that contains fat, my hunger dissipates. The HCG drops really work as a booster for me regarding this. I should also add that I use the hormone free drops. I also exercise daily and I am at an ideal weight for me. I weigh about 175 and i am 6'0. In summary, I use the HCG drops to get myself into ketosis if I ever break my lifestyle eating by eating too much sugar or bread one day. I find it helps my body jump start into consuming fat for energy instead of carbs. Once this kicks in I simply pull back on the HCG drops and continue eating a no sugar, low carb diet mostly based on protein and fat with moderation and exercise. This works for me. Good luck! |
