p2 staples
What dishes make p2 bearable for you? Which ones cant you live without? Things you eat 3 or more times a week, or every day if you could. Recipes please!
For me, my own version of Pho (sliced chicken, cabbage, green onions, celery, broth, hot sauce) Strawberry slushy made with 2 handfuls of frozen strawberries, 2 cap fulls of vanilla, and 1 - 16 oz bottle of sugar free fruit punch (great value brand, 1/2 packet. 5 calories!), 5 - 6 ice cubes. I have this nearly every night. The vanilla really makes it smooth. Chicken salad. Chopped chicken, Walden farms Ranch, WF Honey Dijon, Frenches yellow mustard, cayenne, 2 stalks of celery, 1 pickle and a dash of S & P. London Broil. SOOOO freaking tender cut of beef.. My favorite. Smothered in onions. Kill me now.. Its the best. Im in love  |
Great post. I adhere pretty strictly to P & I so probably dont have anything good to add but will share if I come up with something good! Perhaps those who post can specify their plan too??
|
I'm planning on follow a strict SP when I start at the end of march, but what I've got planned is chicken, asparagus, and apple for each meal. I don't get tired of food easily, but...big but, I don't know how I'll feel once I actually start doing it! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread and other SP p2 threads for recipes should I get bored
|
Yeah I guess I should say that Im not strict. I never eat more than 2 fruits and 2 meat, but I do mix my veggies, and add as many as I can to make it to about 500 calories.

Good thread idea.
I tend to go really simple with foods on P2, but here's a couple nice ideas. I like my sushi replacement: Lightly steam some palm-sized pieces of savoy or any cabbage to use as wrappers.Steam and peel some shrimp and slice them lengthwise. Thinly slice up an orange or an apple. Put it all on a plate with a dipping sauce of bragg's liquid aminos or soy sauce, lemon or acv, and sweetner, with a little wasabi. P2 chili or hamburger with cabbage for when I'm feeling like I want casserole/goulash type meal. Plain but good.... chicken poached in broth, then add frozen spinach at the end, to make a nice bowl of a soup-type meal. Frozen strawberries with a melba crushed up on them, nuke to warm, add sweetner and a tiny dollop of yogurt. |

So, my "normal" P2 day would be: Lots of water chicken cucumbers in ACV (with the mother), sea salt, and dill apple grissini tilapia asparagus strawberries w/stevia grissini Plain? Yes. Did it work? Yes. |
[QUOTE=Lost and Found;14448575 But, in "Pounds and Inches," it does say to try not to eat the same 2 veggies, proteins, or fruits in one day.
.[/QUOTE] Could you point me to where P&I says this? I've never been able to find it, though I've seen the idea stated time and time again on the web. TIA |
I post this in every single thread on food in P2. I could eat the P2 French onion soup that is in the recipe sticky every day!!! I love it so much and it is extremely simple. Every time I have made it, I have lost well on it. That is until my last round. My last round I gained almost a full pound and it was a bear to come back off!! Next time I will try it with low sodium beef broth for sure. Metqa was the one who came up with it and it is on page 1 or 2 of the recipe sticky.

If you want to eat the same thing for every meal...then, by all means...do it. If you want to be "rogue" and not eat to the protocol, then, by all means do it. If you want to vary your Protocol foods every meal to assure a varied supply of vitamins, and minerals, then...by all means do so. You didn't need to "Thank" me, in advance...I'm not that much help. BUT...I know that I read it in there somewhere. So, Thank you....in advance...if you find it first. I won't have time to look further for it...until late this afternoon...and then, I'll have to decide if I want to spend the time looking for something that I know I already read. |
my staples are
le croix mineral water drink about 4- 5 per week Sevia soda drink 1 per week melba eat 0-2 per day depends on what i am eating that day. I never eat them if I am eating a veggie off protocol this is say starchier??? |
i like to keep a variety of things around but prepare them simply some are a little off protocol but i am careful how i mix them. I don't run out and buy all the fruits and veggie at once. I just buy them according to whim and try to stagger them.
tea le croix mineral water 3-4 per week stevia soda 1-2 per week melba strawberries apples blackberries cabbage celery cucumbers cilantro & green onion romaine spinach radishes zuchini cauliflower lean hamburger lean steak chicken breast shrimp tilapia eggs i almost never eat the yolk I like to keep hardboiled eggs around and just eat the whites when I need to cheat. they make you feel full and get you through the hard times. I try not to get too excited about food and really only eat because I have to. that is why I don't do fancy very often. I often eat my chicken cold. If i make food important to me, I will slide and it aint pretty one important thing that i could not live without is my vitamin packets that i put in water. they are flavored with stevia I get them at costco--- ecodrink. 0 carbs. i also buy "salad to go" packets but they substitute for fruit when I use them. 30 cal per packet I am using extra potassium and biotin supplements as well |
Oh, and I love the strawberry slush/smoothie too!! I would take my strawberry portion, a whole lemon with the outer peel, some water and ice and blend it up. Strawberry lemonade!! Yum!! Of course I rarely did this this past round as I can hardly eat anything with ice on plan and it was just too cold, but I have this in the summertime all the time!!

I didn't mean to present an inflammatory question. I reread the passage you pointed out. Thanks, and no need to search further on my account. I don't mean anything ill by this post, either, so I hope it doesn't sound as if I do. Sorry.

Good info for a newbie, thanks!
|
I love to take frozen strawberries, two packs of Stevia, a spoonful of cocoa powder place in my magic bullet, fill a 1/4 full with Davinci SF syrup, then the rest of the way with water...blend until the strawberries are pureed. YUM...tastes like a strawberry frosty to me.

I'm prone to making what I call 'chili chicken' because it's stupidly easy to make. Dump a can of diced tomatoes with chiles in a pan, put several (usually four) servings of chicken on top of that, and dump another can of tomatoes and chiles on top of the mess. Cover and cook for around 10 minutes, then dump in chili powder to taste, stir well. Flip the chicken over, and spoon the tomato mixture back on top. Re-cover and cook for another 10 minutes or so until done. Divide into four servings. By my calculations, assuming four servings, it's approx 125 calories per serving, approx 80 of which is the chicken. So you could certainly add more tomatoes.
I also eat lots of turkey burgers (frozen patties) - chuck them on the foreman grill, top with a bit of sf ketchup/mustard, and eat with knife & fork. Or wrap in lettuce leaves. Quick and brainless.... Hmm. I sense a theme here  |
I've really been into chicken burgers this week. Just take some ground chicken breast, mix in some mustard, soy sauce, and a little tarragon. Sometimes I put about a tablespoon of chopped onion in too. (that's for 4 burgers) Fry them up with a little water and soy sauce. Yummy! A couple of slices of tomato on top and a side of cukes. I've been having this for dinner all week. I tend to get a favorite for the week and that's what I'll eat until the next favorite comes along.:D

I have P2 chili everyday for lunch it is an easy meal to make and take to work,
I usually have steak and veggies for supper. I don't change it up alot except for the fruit which on this round I am eating oranges no apples. I can't seem to eat chicken right now so I am only having beef which I am sure is not protcol as I think you are only suppose to have beef twice a week. |
I like cabbage soup and use my tomatoes as a fruit.
It makes a big pot and you can eat it thru out the day and just eat the protein seperate or add it into the soup. It is just cabbage, canned tomatoes, and beef or chicken lowsodium broth pepper garlic and italian or mexican seasonings. This really helps on hungry days. Ashley |

Not sure why the harshness... I am sure she meant no harm... the same goes for me.. but I read all thru that section.. and I can not find where it says not to eat the same veggies or fruits for both meals. I only found where it said if you have beef for one meal.. don't have it for the 2nd meal. Emel..please don't feel bad... I know you didn't mean anything mean in your post. |

I guess that I am not made out for communicating in the written form very well, as I take other people's posts wrong, and my posts are taken wrong. I didn't seem to run into this problem when I was here...during my first round. So, it must be me. So, I apologize for posting anything, as it seems that you took it the wrong way too. It won't happen again. You are a sweet person, and I'm sure that you will continue to benefit from this forum. Once again, I'm sorry that I took your questioning my post, as to what was helpful for me in P2, the wrong way....and that you, also, took my response in the wrong way. I just don't have the time to look for a needle in a haystack right now by going through the whole "Pounds and Inches" manuscript in search of one sentence....and everyone should do their P2 how they feel comfortable. Some will be rogue, some will find certain protocol foods to effect them adversly (me with cabbage) and find it nec. to, atleast, alter between the other acceptable foods to not grow entirely sick of the food that is left to choose from...therefore, not eating the same thing in one day every day for atleast 21 days straight. Others, may choose to eat the same things over and over. It doesn't matter. Everyone has choices to make. I hope that, before I leave, I have, atleast, made myself clear to you that I misunderstood you, and didn't mean anything bad by my response. :hiya: |
Can Bell peppers be eaten?
|
Quote:
If you are following protocol...meaning the "Pounds and Inches" free downloadable manuscript written by: Dr. Simeons, bell peppers would not be allowed. Protocol allowed veggies: "One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage." Hope that helps. :) |
I only like a few of the veggies that are on the list.. 2 of them being cukes and cabbage... can you believe my grocery store was out of both yesterday?? Man I am tired of lettuce already...lol
How do radishes taste cooked I wonder? |

I wish soooooo bad that I wasn't one of the few that stalls on cabbage. It would be so nice and filling to be able to eat it. :( I'll try some cooked radishes for some variety then. :kicking: |
Good Reply Tracey

Its a shame that you can't eat cabbage.. its extremely low cal and bulky so its filling. I think I will try the radishes too. |
