Congrats on your quitting smoking!!! That is a hard thing to do.

To answer your question, I have never tried it. I hear that the hunger is terrible if you don't load. I do know that your "load weight" disappears, normally, within the first couple of VLCDs though.

Hope that helps!!!

I didn't load this time because it just grossed me out last time. I have done great! The HHCG does such a good job with hunger, I didn't have any more hunger this time than the round I loaded.

How did you do it? Did you eat normally while taking the hcg and then start VLC on Day 3 of the hcg? If so, what foods did you have?

I was already LCing and in ketosis, so I just ate normal LC for a little over a day, maybe day and a half, while I took the drops (but nothing more than my usual - certainly not a "load"). Then I started VLC.

I just ate my usual meat and salad/veggies during that time. I was only eating about 900-1100 calories a day at that point (and NOT losing), but completely satisfied because of ketosis.

This go-around I made some tweaks so that "I" could work this plan - instead of "it" working me over LOL! My main discrepancy from "protocol" is that I eat salad dressing every day - not a ton, about a full TBS both meals. I don't eat the fruit/bread because they cause cravings. That little tweak (plus whole eggs quite frequently for my lunch) has made the plan doable for me and I have not cheated once this round. I'm into my 5th week, so that is a success to me. The only plan that works is the one you can stick to.

The mental anguish of a cheat was really tough on me, the self-loathing, etc. So, I just figured out a way to keep myself satisified enough to get through it without cheating. There had to be a secret in there somewhere.

HI Kateenie,
Did you substitute eggs for a protein? I think whole eggs would be very satisfiying for me. How many whole eggs did you eat?
Thanks

Yes, I just scrambled up a couple of very large eggs and that was my protein. My chickens lay huge eggs! I've lost every time I've eaten them.

I'll bet your eggs are better for you than grocery eggs. I'll bet the gunk they feed commercial chickens is what makes some folks stall on eggs, not the egg itself.

Would be interesting to see the nutritional info for eggs from various ways of feeding chickens. It HAS to have impact on the eggs, don't you think?

I completely agree. I'm very lucky to have my own eggs every day. I think in this setting (chickens getting to eat bugs, etc), that eggs are nearly the perfect food.

This is a good question, I'm wondering about this also. I do remember reading that it can increase hunger if skipped. I'm still searching the board for answers on a recipe/diet plan for loading. Anyone have a link to threads which details exactly what I'm supposed to load up on? DH and I have already made healthy eating and exercise a part of our regular lifestyles since early December, I really don't want to throw that hard work out the window and "load up" on a bunch of garbage.

I emphasized protein and fats and then had whatever carby food I would miss later. I drank alcohol, but not a lot. I took it easy on the sugar because it affects me poorly, but that isn't a rule, it's just how my body reacts.

I didn't load, and I had a very successful first round. I did one day of normal eating on the hHcg drops, and then started vlcd the second day. I had very, very little hunger until the last week of a 44 day round.

I hadn't dieted at all for about 4 months prior to starting this protocol, however... so I think my normal fat stores were not in need of replenishing in any way. Many people seem to be ravenous the first week if they don't load.

Getting ready to start round 1 again, and wanted to bump this to see if anyone else has done a round without loading.

Edited to say -- I am doing a protocol round this time and I DID load -- and honestly, this round is going much better on the whole. I suggest you do load.
