Tammy skyes cookbook question
I'm a bit confused with some of the recipes stating they are 1 protein 1 veg, for example paprika chicken says to serve with sliced tomtaoes,=1 protein and 1 veg, but could I have it with a different veg? or is it because it's got tomatoe in it I have to stick with that as my veg?
Same with the chilli recipe, states to serve with either chopped green onion or tomatoe, 1 protein and i veg, I assuming that's the reason because they are ingredients already in the mix and I can't add in a different one? I know I could count tomatoe as a fruit and have a different veg if I wanted. |

If you use a vegetable in the recipe, it's in there, so it counts as your vegetable.
For example, the P2 chili recipe is per serving 3.5 oz lean ground beef, cooked, a cup of diced tomatoes, and onion powder, garlic powder, herbs, salt, pepper, and something hot (tabasco or cayenne). Some sneak in a little real onion and don't count it. That counts as your protein, and either a veg or a fruit, depending on how you count the tomato. I sometimes counted the tomato as fruit and served with a bowl of romaine as salad. Sometimes I just ate the chili, counted the tomato as a veg, and then had a fruit choice a little later. Some people mix their veggies on P2, but I didn't. That's why I stuck with onion powder instead of fresh onion for my chili. THere are a lot of cookbooks out there that assume you are mixing your veggies. (By the way, you'll find me responding to your posts first a lot because I'm the earliest riser of the americans.
