First correction day and I'm cranky!... and have questions

Sorry to be posting a sour-puss post, but I was up 1 lb yesterday and then another 1.6 lbs this morning! This puts me at 3.4 lbs above my LDW. And... I can't figure out why! That's the most frustrating thing!

My first round I NEVER had to do a CD. This is new to me. Trying to figure out which one to do. All I know of is...

1) a Steak Day (can't imagine not eating all day)

2) a Chicken Day (don't have a chicken and don't feel like dragging 4 kids out on icy streets to go get one)

3) an egg & grapefruit day [alternate eggs (about 4-6 total) and grapefruit (1-2) from lunch until bedtime. drink only when thirsty (can't imagine not drinking a ton of water), and don't eat anything until lunch the next day (this doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather get it all over with in one day.)]

I guess at this point I'm thinking I'll probably do a Steak Day and see how long I can make it without food (without hurting my children ). My friend usually has a steak at 3pm and then another at dinner time (and does not have an apple or tomato) when she does a steak day, and it works for her.

Any thoughts/suggestions/experience? I'd love to know.

Thanks,

I just answered your post on how to do a steak day. My kids know to stay away from me (and esp my food!!!) when I am on a steak day. All I have to do is say "steak day" and they know what to do!!!! Thankfully coffee (with tons of heavy cream!!) saves me from starving all day until I can eat. I drink 3 cups and if I am still hungry I start with the hot teas. But more times than not, when I need a steak day I need it because I have over eaten and don't feel much like eating breakfast or lunch. And I eat early on my steak day. I eat and then the rest of the family gets their dinner.

I see you are in Colorado---I hope you are safe and warm. We are expecting a "wintry mix" tonight and it is coming from your area. Thanks a bunch, girl!!!

My kids have never experienced a steak day before, so maybe after this one they'll get it down. Althought the "baby" (who will be 2 on Sunday) may not figure it out. I homeschool, so they are with me all day. I need to figure out how to do this and be nice. I need to quit feeling sorry for myself and just get on with my day. Trying to say the Serenity Prayer a lot and really trying to focus on the "Grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change" part. I just wish I could figure out why I'm in this spot. Oh, well...

Yes, we're safe and warm and not going anywhere today (although drinking all this water today is going to make me cold!). And... your welcome on the "wintry mix"! We got quite a lot of snow yesterday! At least the sun is shining, and it's supposed to start warming up (in the mid to high 50s by the weekend).

The first time I tried a steak day, I almost died waiting till dinner to eat it. The second time I did one, I ate half the steak at lunch and half the steak at dinner and I loss just the same, and it helped me get through the day eaiser. Any future steak days, I will do it by splitting the steak into 2 meals.

Thanks. Actually, I couldn't wait until dinner, so I just ate it all now. My steak was a little over 11 oz., and I ate a big tomato (lightly salted) with it. I'm hoping that I'm not hungry later, but if I am I plan on eating some leftover, over-cooked sirloin that I made on Monday night.

Next time I have to do a CD, I think I'll try a cheese and apple day that I just found online. The gal lost 3.2 pounds doing it. Definitely worth a try!

The first time I saw it, they said at 2 oz of cheese and 2 apples at B, L & D. Drink lots of water.

The second time I saw it (which I think was posted more recently), the directions were eat up to 4oz cheese along with at least 2 apples for each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

If you eat eggs, you could do an egg day or an egg & grapefruit day as well.

Debby- I hope you have a nice loss in the morning!! So far I've avoided CD's by just keeping it clean when I'm out of my "window". I think I'd do the egg day so I could eat all day!! The frustrating part would be not knowing what did it. I think the HWC would be my first elimination. Hope you make it through dinner well. Go to bed early and happy losing!!

Thanks, Julie! I probably should have just "eaten clean", but chose to do the steak day. I wish I could go to bed early, but with all my little ones and all that I have to do it's not likely. Actually, I'd like to go to bed right now.

I decided to chew a piece of gum which might have been a mistake. Guess we'll just see. I'm sure it's a no-no.

fembomb, I just spoke with my HCG support person, and she said that noone they know has had any luck with the apple & cheese day. And... that if they did, it didn't stick. If you end up doing one sometime, let me know how it goes.

So... my DH (who really is a good man and very supportive) came home and declared that he was not eating dinner with the kids because "he's not hungry right now". He will never understand my struggles and what I go through. I sure am hungry. He then, in all of his niceness, proceeded to give the children c-a-n-d-y for dessert. UGHH!!! GRRR!!!! I just can't wait for this day to be over!

Okay... so, my steak day worked. I was down 3 lbs this morning! Sure hope it sticks. I ate my steak and tomato at 2:30pm. I was a little bit hungry the rest of the day, but not too bad. Had some gum (3 pieces - the chocolate mint kind... yum!) to help, and then had a big mug of decaf w/2 tsp cocoa powder and my chocolate and english toffee stevia at about 8:15pm. I did drink 6 1/2 quarts of water yesterday and took 1TBSP of ACV.

So, Dawn, how do you do a shake day? I always have plain protein powder on hand. How many shakes do you drink? Do you make them with water or milk? Can you drink water? I'm sure you drink your coffee, right? Right now I'm all about learning about new CDs, as my steak day was miserable!

Glad to see you were miserable for a reason!!! The steak day worked!!! Would have been terrible had it not worked. SO glad to see you are back down. And 3 pounds??!!! I never get that much off at once. You are so lucky!! To make the pounds lost "stick" do a clean P3 day today. That means NO nuts and NO cheese. You should be fine doing that!!!

As for the shake day, I believe the instructions or guidelines are in the P3 tips thread. But here is how I do mine:

Breakfast: 1 shake made with: 8 oz chocolate Calorie Countdown milk; 2 eggs; 1 serving protein powder (sometimes I get a brand that is 2 scoops per drink and some brands are 2 scoops--just follow the instructions on your powder); any flavorings I might fancy for the day. You can add any Davinci flavored syrups or cream cheese (but just a bit!!) or cocoa powder...that sort of thing. When I do vanilla shakes I sometimes add a TBL of 2 of pumpkin along with some cinnamon--yum!!
Lunch: another shake as described above
Dinner: another shake which leaves out the 2 raw eggs.

I drink coffee as usual (my 3 cups per day) and drink boatloads of water!!! The more the better. Gracie (sazzy is her username) tried this and was successful so I did try it and it worked for me too!! I love my protein shakes!!!

Steak days actually get easier Which tells you how many times I"ve done it. I'm actually doing it again today.

Essentially it forces your body back into ketosis and I've found it works best long term if I try to eat pretty clean a few days after. (I'm P4 right now)

I drink tons of green tea and have been known to chew some sugarless gum too. It doesn't seem to hurt.

The correction days do get easier....

On my correction days I usually do about 6 apples (I buy a variety; pink lady, granny smith and so on) then eat a big steak in the evening drinking lots of water/tea/coffee...I have always dropped anywhere between 2.5 to 5 pounds....

On that shake day, I wonder if I could add a half TBL of cream to my beloved EAS shakes and have 6 of them for the day.

Would make it nutritionally comparable but with more nutrients and no raw eggs.

When you say "big steak" - how big?
Just curious. I'm not even close to getting into P3, but a big steak is something to look forward to right now.

I am a small thing, as people tell me, and I usually shoot for at least a pound of steak on my steak days. So a big steak means "big steak"!!

So... you eat the apples throughout the day? ... and then have the steak at night? And drink the water/tea/coffee throughout they day?

This sounds like something I could do.

Yes I usually try to space them out almost about 2 hours or when I feeling hungry....then for dinner I eat the biggest steak I can find and stomach....I drink the water/tea/coffee and lots of it..

Interesting.
May I ask, how far were you from goal, and how far from LDW, when you did the steak/apple days?

I did this correction once during my first round on day 33. I also did it several times after the holidays. The time I dropped 5 pounds I was exactly 5 pounds from my LDW. I am nowhere near goal; I have 40 more pounds to go as of this morning. I am on day 8 of my 3rd round....During my second round I lost 12.4 pounds (which by the way was a round from that place down below) but I put that back on plus some because of all that wonderful holiday fudge:blush:.....(note to self...stop making it)

There is some ladies at my church who are doing/done HCG and they have done the same type of correction day with the same results.

Hope this helps...

My second round (which I'm in the P3 of) was the same way! I'm hoping it's just a second round thing, and hopefully my third round will be better. How's your third round going so far?

I know from what I can tell second round is a killer.

My third round is going great...day 8 and 9.6 down....DH is on it as well and is down 10! And I am not struggling on it as I did my second round....I truly believe I did not let my body stabilize long enough...I got anxious instead of just wading it out....I waited the alloted time but I think my body wanted longer...just my thought though

I don't know if I can say that was the case for me. I had 3 weeks of P3 and 5 weeks of P4. Never once had to do a correction day. I had stabilized so well. I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted. So, the mental part of being on P2 again was killer for me. I just wanted to eat like I had been eating, so the limited food choices on P2 was hard. But, I didn't lose as well as the first round either. Plus, I was sick the whole time with a cold/sinus problems. Threw in the towel early at 28 days.

I'm starting my next round up for Lent (after 3 weeks of P3 and 2 weeks of P4). Hope I do okay anyway. I had considered skipping P4 this time, but decided that it was necessary for me both physicall and especially mentally.

Congratulations on your 3rd round going so well! Hope it continues for you!

I agree the mental part of this is so very important...

The correction day during my round was not a "correction" day so to speak I was anxious and wanting the scale to move....I didnt HAVE to do it...I stablized well after my first round~doing the 21 days and then another 21 days before I started second round...it was when I started my second round and ended it that I didnt stablize...like I said self induced though...

I hope your third round goes well too. Looks like you are close to goal and my hit it on your next round...how awesome! Are you going to do a long round (40 days)?

Nice R3, careb, and thank you for explaining your experience. Good information.
One thing that helped me w/the P2 mental game was to pretend I was eating that way because I didn't feel like fooling around in the kitchen. You have to admit, it sure is easy to cook for P2!

Yes, I plan on doing a long round. May extend it to 45 days if I need/want to get a little lower. But, not longer than that as I want to be on P3 for Easter. I sure hope to get to goal (or where I want to be as I'm not *really* sure where goal is) with my next round. Thanks for the well wishes.

You know, that would work if I didn't have the extra work of cooking for my family too. At least I'm hoping the mental part will be a bit easier this time as I'm doing it as a spiritual exercise for Lent. And... I've decided that if I don't lose as much as I want, I'll just do another round in September and that should get me there. I just had really high hopes for round 2, I guess.
