Fiber?

Ok this ain't working for me. I do NOT like having to use a cleanse to get Bernice to visit. It's not healthy, and really it means I'll have to keep buying stuffs and I'm on a budget. And I know from experience, the less vegetables I eat, the less chance she comes. Soooooo I know about the magnesium, I've used it and nope nada nein zilch. I used to use Benefiber in my water bottle, does anyone have any input on Fiber on protocol?

This is just freaking uncomfortable

I think it should be fine to use fiber -- and of course vitamin C can help in that department, too -- sorry you are having these troubles! I do find that -- although I am surprisingly regular on this plan -- there just isn't much to eliminate... we don't eat enough food to create much bulk.

I find the apples help with digestion a lot, for me.

No I know there isn't much to eliminate but I spend most of the time feeling bloated and I'm pretty sure that isn't normal :/ I am not hungry though LOL the last thing in the world I am is hungry! I have to go in the kitchen right now and force myself to eat some cucumbers and fish.

Maybe i'll open a can of spinach tomorrow...but I hate canned greens just don't think that eating them the way we make them is on plan...maybe in p3 but not p2

Ginja - two questions... are you using magnesium CITRATE? The other magnesiums often don't work as well.

The other thing you can try (as weird as it sounds), is an abdomen massage. Lay on your back on a firm surface, press down into your abdomen, starting about 2 inches above your belly button, and massage in small circles, for 5 seconds. Moving in a clockwise direction, continue massaging in small circles all the way around your belly button. I do this first thing every morning and within about 15 minutes Bernice makes an appearance.

I guess the other thing you can try is coconut oil (a tablespoon or two) although it's a toss up about whether it will impact the weight loss or not.

Hugs to you! I know it's uncomfortable...

I have some coconut oil but I'm allergic, won't eat it...I just use it for my hair right now

Hi,
I have been using Stevia sweetener which I bought off eBay - it has fiber in it from something called inulin - it has no cals and you have to stir it in properly in a hot drink. I think it is 3 sachets a day is the equivilent fiber to a bowl of bran?

I have had no probs yet with log jams.

i decided Before i started this..
to trade the 2 melba for 2 Tblspoons flax seed meal..
i also have 1-3 fiber choice tablets every day
with lots of water..
i know you drink tons of water..
so you should have no issues with whatever fiber you choose..
my body is fickle with fibers..
the Only reliable way for me is ..
at least 4 Eight(8) oz cups of coffee every day
and that 2 Tblspoons of flax seed meal..
i have internal hemmroids very bad since i was 18 ..
and if i dont actively protect them..
i get anemic again...
so this is what i am committed to..
works Great for me

WOE: one day at a time!! LC!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
I've had a similar issue, but with P3 for me. In P2 the coffee and magnesium was enough to keep me moving along. Now that I'm eating more it's becoming more of an issue.

I added probiotics and they seem to be helping. I'm still not eating tons of fiber. I don't do well on fiber supplements - flax meal doesn't agree w/ me either.

I haven't tried a senna or other laxative yet, and hope not to have to resort to that. It's improving daily, but not where it should be. Need to be consisitent w/ the probiotics to see if they're truly effective.

Hope it gets straightened out soon!!

Maybe this is where my problem is, I was regularly taking flax seed oil supplements before I started but I stopped for the plan. I do have some flax seeds in the cupboard, I may try to get them in my foods....awesome suggestion thanks!

Ginja, thanks for starting this thread. I'm dealing with the same problem. I took mag a week ago with success....and again Saturday with nothing. I just had 160mg mag in some tea. If I don't have any success today, I'll try the flax seed too. Fortunately, I'm not bloated, but I know this needs correcting. Keep us posted.

I've GOT to increase my water intake. I can only get hot tea in me when it's this cold!!

Inulin is great stuff -- it is a pre-biotic, meaning that it helps the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.

I tend to go the, uh.. other direction with bowel issues than most of you. Probiotics, in my opinion, are something we should all take regularly. We just don't get enough of them in all of our chemically treated food, and they do help immensely with the gut....

Gut health is SO important to our overall functioning, too... not only is a tremendous amount of the immune system dependent on a healthy gut, but actually our brain neurotransmitters are also largely manufactured there... serotonin, dopamine, etc.... so our mood states are dependent on gut health as well.

Well just to keep you guys posted, I haven't incorporated the flax seeds yet, I decided to go back to my trusty benefiber because it's a lot easier to mix with my food. I know I have problems specifically digesting red meat, I was hoping the magnesium would help with that but it really hasn't. I had fiber yesterday and today with my p2 chili (I mixed it right in the pan).

I haven't had another visit from bernice since the last day of my cleanse but the fiber has taken the bloated uncomfortable feeling away so I am having relief in that sense.

@ MM Inulin, I will look into this thanks

The 160mg mag powder in tea worked for me that day.

Hang in there Ginja - something will work for you.

One thing that moves me along EVERYTIME, and sometimes within 30 minutes of taking it, is a healthy dose of Natural Calm (a magnesium supplement you drink hot) -- then it is absorbed immediately in your body. I don't take this supplement for this particular reason, however, it can be a welcomed side effect. I prefer the sweet lemon flavor (all organic and sweetened with stevia).

How about the smooth move tea? Does anyone use that? I've heard about it but never tried. I do know it isn't good to drink it every day but maybe when you really "need" to?

Hope you're feeling better.
