Ugh .... I think I'm in trouble ...

Earlier I baked some chicken wings earlier to eat tomorrow.

I just got home and found out that an old high school friend passed away. So shocked and so sad.

I was standing in my kitchen when I read the email. Before I knew it, I had eaten two of the wings (which is basically 4 small pieces - the wing and the drumette)!

Ugh. Talk about an emotional eater!

Today is my last day weaning from hhcg, but still.

Sigh.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It's late on your last day of weaning, I wouldn't stress the actual consumption of the wings...but you are right to reflect on your motivation for eating.

Your friend would probably want what's best for you not want you to suffer with bad health. The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself! You have done so well and come so far already.....hugs.....I'm sorry for your loss.

I think punishing yourself or tagging yourself as an "emotional eater" is part of the problem too. Telling yourself you WERE an "emotional eater" and that despite eating a ONE chicken wing, it wasn't an unhealthy food. It reminds me of all the dieters who lose their weight yet still see themselves as fat.

You didn't eat a bag of cookies. Losing a friend is traumatic. Consider it from another angle; that might help you long-term.

My condolences. Keep up the good work. You look great! Notice the positive in changes in yourself!!!!

So sorry for your loss. A couple of wings is not bad at all. You could have eaten 1/2 a cake and pizza.

Acknowledge and move on.

Be nice to yourself.

Awww ***hugs*** Sorry for your loss, sweetie.
And like others said, yes it's good to recognize your triggers, but on the other hand, be proud of yourself that you opted for something healthy instead of cleaning out the pantry. Given the circumstance, I'd be putting that in the win column.

Wow, you guys are amazing. Thank you so much.

Tonight is the viewing. I've not seen this person in 25 years, but the news hit me as if I had just chatted with him yesterday.

I realized last night (and will hopefully remember this in the future) that the wings did not comfort me. Food used to comfort me, but last night it was almost mindless. Like I didn't even realize I was doing it. And I felt no better afterwards.

I used to not care after totally filling my belly with ALL SORTS of garbage, but its different now. While I'm only halfway to my goal, I've worked hard to get here and I don't want to undo that by eating mindlessly when things go astray in my life.

Thank you again for all the support. I REALLY appreciate it!

This makes *perfect* sense to me. This type of thing brings up our own mortality just like a slap in the face. I felt this way when I heard a guy I went to Jr. High with and had his parents as teachers there had passed away 2 weeks ago. Its sad...and a reminder that life is very fragile and fleeting. So I think you are doing *great* and taking the very best care of yourself. That is just awesome!!
