Kathy Lee and Hoda HCG diet covered

I just caught some of this. Im going to try and find it online and post it but they discussed the hcg diet with Joy Bauers (the today show dietician I guess) and a doctor??? Stated he could not find any proof that the hcg did anything to assist in weight loss and that eating such low cals could in fact kill us. He stated there was a popular diet back in the 70's that was similar in cals and actually killed some. Did anyone else see this?

No, I didn't catch it, but did catch another piece on an earlier show. The Today show has Joy on all the time and in the 3rd hour once they took questions from the viewers and this hcg was discussed. Joy said she didn't endorse it because it was "so low cal. Anyone can lose on 500 calories a day!!!" And Al Roker was in complete agreement with her. It just goes to show you that they DID NOT read the plan IN ITS ENTIRETY, or do any journalistic background check. Because if they did they would know it is only for a short time you are on the 500 calories. Ah, makes my blood boil when they do this. Just like when they profile Atkins as all bacon cheeseburgers and say that is not healthy. They do no checking with anything like that!!!

Now, having said all that (sorry I just had to get that off my chest!!) I have to look at the link you provided. Thanks for the heads up!!!

OK, just watched it. And yes, they did NOT do any investigation into the plan. Even though Dr Katz said he did, I don't believe that. He found no evidence that it worked??? How about Simeon's patients?? And Dr Bellacusio's in Brazil??? Oh, just like I said.......they did no research. And who could argue with any of that food?????? It is well balanced and my DH wants my plate of dinner every single night I am on P2 LOL. Eh, the heck with them. As long as we know it works...and works it does!!!!!

Well, they are *not* journalists... Joy is a comedian/talk show host (she annoys the heck outta me anyway) and Al is a weather guy. Not who I would be turning to for an endorsement of any plan I might choose to follow. I did my own research on this protocol before I started.

The food looked great, but of course they acted like you couldn't have a salad dressing...pretty sure you can make oil-free salad dressing.

Of course they didn't mention that it goes in phases and that you go up to 1500 calories after P2.

Pfft. I'm not even going to bother to give them the page views and watch their "journalism".

And FWIW, I also did my research before starting. AND I gave the information to my husband, who agreed with it as well, and is one day behind me in his protocol. The important part of that? Hubby is a PhD Biochemist.

Joy has NEVER advocated reducing carbs as a weight-loss option and I've heard her mention "and they didn't cut out a food group" on her segments. She is very one dimensional as far as weight-loss goes and is very "food pyramid" focused.

I just got done reading "What Makes Us Fat" and it made SO MUCH SENSE. It talks about how high insulin levels from high carb foods keep fat stored in cells and when injesting these type of foods a person has no energy available for daily life and thus is STARVING and has to eat more.

There are hundreds of years of research to back this up and actually very little questionable studies done for the "calories in calories out" diets that support the current "correct" way to diet/be healthy.

Very interesting book and I think everyone should read it.

Not a fan of Dr. Oz, but I heard a commercial last night where he said "Fat is not the problem....Sugar is" or something to that effect. I was shocked!

If you look up on Youtube, I don't know whether it's still there, but a few years ago Larry King was having a discussion, about low carb... and the main low carb believers were on, my people LOL... and Dr. Oz....Dr Oz was so adamant that low carb was the worse.. even though they were saying, what do you mean? do you advocate people eat white flour and sugar.. and I think that is one of the reasons why I do not like him...if your going to jump on the low carb wagon at least admit you changed your thinking.. plus I saw a segment recently on his show, where this women was giving secrets as to how she lost a lot of weight.. and one of them was making a cauliflower pizza, which she didn't even give credit to Cleo... so I don't care for his him too much...

I was looking at some of my yahoo group info tonight and came across this post about the interview by Hoda and Kathie Lee:

"The interview was a waste, IMO, because they didn't cover what they
should have, but what can you expect on a show like that, with guests on
the same clueless level as the hosts, and in 4 minutes. :-)"

Well said I believe!!!

What I find so amazing about the people who discount and dismiss HCG as dangerous is this:
Al Roker had gastric bypass surgery! That's not dangerous? That's not extreme? Yet eating a well-balanced diet and using a homeopathic supplement for 6 weeks is? Pssht.

You know the first time I went to see my Thyroid Doctor, I was mortified to tell him I was on Atkins...didn't want to hear the same old tired lecture.. to my surprise, he said a lot of his diabetic patients were on Atkins...and whatever it took to lose weight..so if HCG, which I have never tried by the way.. but if it works for you, and you feel great... then why do you care about Hoda and Kathy Lee.. 2 hens who cackle.. I never watch their show...too busy watching Wendy Williams or Job hunting...

I DVRed and just watched that show last night. It was very interesting. There is more and more evidence to suggest that sugar not only causes diabetes but also high blood pressure and high cholesterol!

YES!!!! Love, love, love "Why We Get Fat". It's the cliff notes of "Good Calories Bad Calories" which I have no intention of reading. I wish I had read it when I was a teenager. It would have saved so many years of weight struggles.

I wish I could've watched the show...
