HCG and Hypothyroidism

I am very interested in trying HCG... however, I do have hypothyroidism and taking meds for the condition.

Is there anyone who is hypo and doing HCG? Pros? Cons?

Thanks!

I'm hypothyroid and on meds, and I know there are others on this board who are too. The people I bought my drops from said that I might lose slower. They said the average for women was 0.6 lbs per day, so I might lose at a rate of 0.5 lbs per day. I was okay with that.

My first round, I lost 25 lbs in 40 days. So I lost at a rate of 0.62 lbs per day. This round is a teeny bit slower, but I've also had a bad cold the whole time (and can't seem to get rid of it!).

I would say... Go for it! HCG is great!

I am hypothyroid and taking Levothyroxine for it. I have had no problems losing while on it. I would *NOT* stop taking your medication while doing HCG. I am doing RX subq injections

Thank you all for the responses! I'm getting excited!

Next question - how does one get the pellets or drops? Do I need my doctor's okay or is this something I don't need her for?

Hi there.
I have heard that in some cases people eventually have had to reduce their thyroid meds - Armour, T3 or thyroxine when they have lost weight as their body is functioning better.
The thing to do is if you begin to feel a bit hyper then reduce slightly until you find a level that you are neither hyper or hypo.
I am on Levo and T3 and will be starting diet soon so will keep an eye out.

I know someone who had to reduce their Armour grains and stop taking the adrenal supplement as they no longer needed it.

Hope this helps.

In my case my labs got worse after losing the weight!! But I was untreated for my thyroid until the very end of my last round. But, yes, I agree. You have to keep an eye out.

You girls are the best!

And I'm able to purchase the HCG items online? Are the products online better or worse then what the doctor would prescribe me?

The only difference is in price!!! Do you want to pay a lot? Then go with the doc. If you want to go the cheap way, do it yourself. I went the cheap route Did very well!!!

I am hypo and am in my second round. In my first round...I lost 28 pounds in 35 days. I gained some back over the holidays, but have lost it in a very short amount of time in R2. My Endocrinologist told me that if she could just keep me pregnant (I do really well when I am preg. with my Hashimoto's Disease) then I would be fine. That all became possible with HCG. P.S. In my first round I used drops. This round I used pellets and I love them very, very, very MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Are there any recommended brands for the pellets?

From what I understand, the pellets are manufactured by one company and then privately labeled. So even though the prices can be very different, they are all the same blue bottle with different labels.

Purchased and received my HCG drops...

I am both excited and scared to death about doing this...

Is there a specific day of the week to start the drops? Load days? Since I eat low carb (20 grams per day or less) and higher fat anyway, would this be considered a "load" type of day? My typical calorie intake is 1000 - 1100 per day.

Any help would be appreciated!

I am hypothyroid, and have hashimoto's. I have struggled with my weight for years, and tried everything, Atkins (which works great if you don't start eating carbs again), nutrisystem (worked but who in the world can afford it for long) weight watchers, and others. This is the first thing that has worked for me in a long time.
I started last Saturday, with Saturday and Sunday being my load days, and as of this morning have lost 8.7 pounds. That is much better than any other program I have used, and I feel great!

My thyroid was removed so I guess that makes me hypo. I have other factors like being post menopausal with some medical conditions that make losing weight tough.

With HCG (Rx Injections) I've lost 97lbs in 3 rounds.

So happy to have found this relevant forum!

I have hashimoto and despite active gym sessions for the past 5 months, i did not lose a single pound. I am on medication from the doc and he said i shouldn't be facing any problem in losing weight if i do what normal folks do, that is exercise and diet.

4 days a week and min an hour each did not yield any results. As for diet, I would say i did not go to the extreme. Only the cut down of food and to eat before 7pm.

After 5 mths, I really am willing to give HCG a try tho i tried not to use any external medicinal help. I used to take Douramine. It helped but i eventually gain back all the weight and more. Hence this time i'm working hard at the gym instead of turning to pills.

My fear is to lose and gain them all back. And not sure how hcg would interfere with my current medications.

Hi and welcome! What are the meds you are on? I am hypothyroid, hypoadrenal, and low s*x hormones. I medicate with T3/Cynomel, hydrocortisone, and T and E hormone creams. I've lost around 70 pounds with h/hCG. It changed my life. Period.

You might want to check out some more recent threads--this one is from last year.
