Struggling to maintain right now. Trying to eat P3 right now. Scale is up and down. 160.6 this am. I cycled so much that I just couldn't get my head back in it. The plan is to do p3 until the end of Feb and then commit to another round in March before I have to wear summer clothes.

From my journal: "My body needs a break. I have never taken the full 6 week break that Dr S requires. I've been cycling P2/P3 and making it up as I go along. The longest break that I took was 3 weeks after my first round (which started in July) It's just so hard mentally to eat this way for so long."

Here's the big picture. My first round started at the end of July. I lost 25 lbs. From then to now I've only lost 10 lbs. Moral of the story: Stick to protocol and follow the instructions to do full P3/P4 breaks between rounds. Cycling may work for some, but for me, it just burned me out and I did not lose.
Hang in there, Stacey. Stabilizing is the hard part. I am up nearly four lbs. from my LDW, and have been bouncing all over the place. I am starting another round Feb. 20, trying to be at goal for my birthday mid-March. I think our bodies do need a break every now and again, but that's not an excuse to undo all our hard work. Take care of yourself, and be mindful.

I think that we are supposed to drink, at the very minimum, 2 liters.

Ohhh...here it is from Pounds and Inches: "Tea, Coffee, plain water, mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times. In fact patient should drink about 2 liters of these fluids a day."

Atleast you like coffee. I like diet pepsi, and can't have that. So, I've been experimenting with different teas. The problem with that is that I don't like tea without alot of stevia...and I don't know what that would do?

I've heard 2 liters and I've heard half your body weight in ounces.

Like you, drinking water is a complete struggle. I hate it and miss my Diet Pepsi!

Whew, I'm not alone! I love my coffee but I need the cream and splenda in it so I've been missing it! Actually I use some stevia and I've been seperating my 1 tablespoon of milk into thirds. Not the same, but I'm dealing with it!

I'm trying to drink 4 bottles of water in addition to my coffee (about 24-30 ounces a day) and then I'm making sure that I'm having some sort of soup each day as a meal.

Like many of you I'm wondering if I should just move my office to the bathroom, lol!

AAAaaaaahhhhhhh....an ice cold swig of bubbly Diet Pepsi...sounds sooooooo goooood!!!!! I love it, but it doesn't love me. I miss it too.

Drinking water is a struggle for me too. I've read, in other places, that we are to drink half of our body weight in water too...on an every day basis...for health, not necessarily just for dieting. AND get this...if we drink a beverage that has caffeine in it, we're suppose to, also, drink that many more ounces of water...in addition to half of our body weight in ounces of water. Ugh.

I make myself get my water in by getting a 32 ounce container of it, and guzzling it down. I do this many times a day, and know that is the only way that I can do it.

One of my very favorite parts about P3 was my first cup of coffee on Day 1. Heavy cream and splenda. Almost like dessert!

It's easier to get it down when the water is room temperature. I had trouble at first but after I employed this hint it helped a lot!

I hate water and am the worst person to ask. I drink herbal tea and sparkling water instead. I just can't stand plain water.

nenniebelle!

Here is a sticky thread for recipes you may find helpful:Simeon's Protocol Recipes Only

Also, if you go through the pages of threads you will find what people are eating on the vlcd, such as this one:P2 menu...January

And this here is very helpful: TIPS FOR P2 OF DR. SIMEONS PROTOCOL

There is so much more. Happy reading!

Um, what's SQ?

Veggie list is just for P2 and that is such a small part of the whole protocol. I would just use the HCG subq since the Doc said it was fine. Use insulin needles...easy. One shot and you are done for the day!

Hey, ya'll.

I'm down 2#s this morning (love the big losses @ the beginning), but I'm HUNGRY. I've been sucking down flavored teas all day and trying to keep my hands busy. Last time it was VLCD4 when my appetite subsided, so I'm guessing it'll be similar this round... just need to push through.

I also hate water and could drink coffee all day. I've noticed I can't have more than one cup of coffee on HCG or I get jittery, though I can have caffeinated teas without an issue.

Did you load well with lots of fat? That is typically why you can have hunger the first few days. If it does not subside you may need to adjust your dosage.

I loaded heavily with fat this round and the last one I did in October (bought Irish butter just for the occasion, bacon, cheese, fried chicken, etc). I'm taking the RX sublingual @ .5ml/day. I'm guessing part of it is psychological Last time, I was ravenous for VLCD2-3 as well, then day 4 I was fine.

That all sounds so yummy to me as I just finished my ground chicken and cabbage dinner.

Hang in there...you will be fine.

Thanks! I'm pretty motivated to stay on task. I just have to get through the next few days. Last round, I did well staying on protocol till about VLCD14 and started w/coco crack. Still, lost 20#s in 25 days. Hoping to do better this time.

I did not plan well for today being in the office. I am naturally hungry from 10AM-2PM and that's when I normally eat while I work at home. I just brought enough food for the lunch portion (apple, breadstick, chicken and cucumbers). I was HUNGRY by 5PM, like HUNGRY HUNGRY. I work till 6 and have an hour commute. I just finished eating. Let me tell ya, next Monday I will be bringing some of the dinner to the office and eating before I leave. Once I eat, I'm totally full and feel good. Cannot wait to get on the scale tomorrow!

Happy losing!

if you have a microwave, portion out a cup of chicken broth for chicken lunch days. I use reduced sodium college inn (5 cal per cup)
Or tea bags and a baggie of lemon wedges and a bottle of stevia.

Or half of your evening fruit and your starch (I would not love this, but it might work for a daytime hungry. I'm a nighttime hungry.)

Your hunger will reduce shortly. You just have a couple days of the hungries, but even when your appetite diminishes, it's good to be prepared.

I had beef for lunch and will have shrimp for dinner. Is it non-protocol to drink chicken broth if I'm not having chicken?

I don't think so. Beef broth as a snack was my GoTo no matter what my proteins for the day were.

R2P2 VLCD1 has been pretty easy. A tiny bit of hunger, but I am not surprised since my loading did not go well. Sipping tea and keeping busy.

I find that having one meal of the day be some kind of soup really helps...usually I do the cabbage soup thing.

I've only had one fruit today, there are some grapefruits in the fridge but they might be past their prime. Can't hurt to cut one in half and try it.

I was starving the first few days of both rounds too. I think it's just getting used to our stomachs being empty of food most of the day. Mine went away by day 4 and now I only get hungry if I don't eat on time.

VLCD #1-lost 4.2 pounds
VLCD #2-lost 4 pounds
VLCD #3 (today)-lost 1.8 pounds

10 pounds...gone in 3 days!!!!

Must have gotten rid of ALL of the water gain. I am, finally, down to about where I stabalized at. I never stabalized to the "exact" same number "every" day, but was always within 3-4 pounds above, or below my LDW...depending on what I ate. I know that the protocol says 2 pounds, but I was fine with my 3-4 pound window, as sometimes I can gain that much overnight in water.

Now...onward, and downward.

Yesterdays meals:

WATER, and 2 cups of tea

Lunch: Spinach, broiled chicken, apple, grissini

Dinner: Tilapia, asparagus, strawberries, grissini

I too have long days (3 hour commute) so I split my food on P2. I eat my fruits at 9am and 3pm. It helps until I can get home and have dinner.

Down another 1/2. WTH? I could have used these losses last week when I stalled. I would have stayed on P2 longer.
