What are your favorite low calorie foods and recipes?

I am hoping I am not the only schmuck on this board that has never done low calorie before. I started with low carb and don't know any different.

I know most veggies are low in calories and I assume fruits are too. I know chicken is less than meat and fish is less than chicken.

I guess I am looking for low calorie foods that are also low carb... is that possible?

Is fat always high in calories like cream cheese, half & half, or cheeses?

Can you help a girl out?

I can't help you out at all LOL! I have been eating SO plain... plain chicken breast and veggie. Plain 95% lean burger and veggie, etc etc. I did live on the edge last week and made the P2 chili everyone talks about, but when I separated it into 5 individual servings (allotted meat amount), they were so pathetically small it was a bust in my mind.

Okay, I'm changing my answer because I have a clearer understanding of what you're wondering.
This is not on-protocol stuff....

Chicken broth. 5, 10, or more cal per cup. College inn reduced sodium is 5 cal. YOu can make a nice appetizer soup with broth and some cooked veggies.

Some shakes. I have some EAS advantedge (not using it now, though).
11 fl oz is 110 cal, 3 g fat, 4 g carb, 2 g fiber, 0 g sugar, 17 g protein. It's soy and whey.
Sipping 1/3 to 1/2 of one helped me when I was on another plan (so that means I got 36 to 55 calories)

zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower. Perhaps experiment with some of the 0 cal products such as walden farms to top the veggies, or some fake butter spray with garlic and a whiff of premium parmesan or other very hard cheese (not the green can. It has fillers and the processing kills some of the awesome taste)

Tofu. I used to stretch poultry by processing cooked chicken breast and mixing it w/tofu and food processing again, then add peppers, onion, celery. A little mayo, maybe a tbl of reduced or non-fat, smooths it out.

Egg whites. 16 cal each, I think. Maybe an all whites eggbeaters omelet with fat-free cheddar?

Plain rice cakes

Fat is always higher calories. There are approximately 4 calories per gram of carb or pro, 9 calories per gram of fat. Fruits.. lg apple 117, med apple 80, orange 80, half grapefruit 35 or so, berries 12 lg strawberries is 50 cal. Pineapple, banana, mango, papaya, and cherries are higher. Lots of fructose at 4 cal/gram.

WOE: one day at a time!! LC!
Start Date: July 14, 2003 - every day!!
I do LC and VLC. I make a lot of soup, as previously mentioned. I mix my veggies too! Such a rebel . I don't do the fruit or bread.

I eat:
LC or Greek yogurt
cottage cheese
LC protein shakes (made w/ almond or coconut milk)
chicken - any kind, made anyway, but lately likin' dark meat more
beef - any kind, also made any LC way
cabbage, cucumbers, green beans, salad (not too often), celery, onions, tomatoes, broc and cauliflower occasionally.
Rot-tel tomatoes are so tasty in everything. That's what I add to chicken breast and broth to make a chicken taco soup. Delicious w/ some cayenne or chipoltle seasoning, s&p, chili powder, onion pwder and some garlic.

Recent soup: leftover roast beef (still in crock pot), onions, carrots (for flavor, only ate 1), celery, garlic, stewed tomatos, green beans, shredded cabbage, beef broth. Season as you like, I added a few bay leaves (removed b/4 eating), italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Delicious and goes a LONG way. Gonna' freeze the leftovers in containers for quick lunches for next week.

There is a sticky of recipes here, but it's kinda' hard since a lot of them are bread or fruit friendly and not separated by P2 or P3/P4.

Good luck!!

Julie- when you say LC do you mean low calorie or low carb?

I want to make creamy cauliflower soup but am scared of the cream cheese.

Have you tried cream cheese yet?
