Transdermal magnesium oil and hormone creams?
Two things...
I take my magnesium through bioidentical magnesium oil spray. (I had REALLY low magnesium and this was suggested as a better way to get magnesium up.) The ingredients are just magnesium chloride and water so I don't think there are any oils in it. Ok for P2? I also supplement testosterone daily and estrogen days 1-14 (I am progesterone dominant) through compounded creams. It's intended to sink into the skin so I suspect it isn't mineral oil based, lol. Do I need to stop these? Not sure what would happen with the T. Obviously I stop the E for 14 days a month. TIA Michelle in LA (still waiting on my dang drops...) |

Michele, I took all of my Rx meds while on plan. (I take 4-5) I used to take Rx Vit D and if it were still an Rx I was on I would continue. I also took a prenatal vitamin and added b complex.
Hormones (IMO) are too delicate of a balance to discontinue. |

I am continuing to use my hormone creams and it hasn't stalled me... but Kimberly's warning is well taken. Did it get more normal, by any chance?

Hmmm... interesting. High testosterone is NOT a good thing. I don't have a lot to lose, so maybe it won't whack mine out too much.... here's hoping, anyhow....

Hm that's weird - I had Waaaay HIGH testosterone while fat - and high in the BAD estrogen, and lower numbers with both after I lost weight using hcg.
I AM interested in the transdermal magnesium and was thinking of using it myself. People call it magnesium "oil" but it's just liquid suspension, right? No real oil? |

I am estrogen dominant and use a compounded progesterone cream days 12 - 26. In fact today is the first day I'll be using it since I started, so interested to see what happens.

FWIW The mag oil isn't for everyone--you put it on and it ITCHES like you would not believe! You need to leave it on for 20 mins to get the maximum benefit. I generally put it on in the morning before I exercise then rinse it off in the shower and then at night before bed. I try to put it on skin that isn't very sensitive (lower back and calves) but it still is challenging to not wash it off immediately. I am only continuing because oral mag (at 800mg per day for years) was doing nothing for me and had other...er...side effects! My mag was at the very bottom of the normal range. I'll keep everyone posted. |

I too had higher levels after I gained weight than before. During P2 they went very high. I had no symptoms of high testosterone and would have never known but for the testing. During P3 they were lower, during P4 lower still. Without the testing, I could have said to someone, "I did such and such and it did not affect me." But, I would have been wrong. |

Btw, the itching can be truly awful. I've heard that it only itches if you really need magnesium but here I am six months later still dealing with the itchies. I do not have sensitive skin and have gotten welts on areas where the skin is thinner like my inner arms. Oddly, this sensitivity does not appear to be consistent--sometimes I can put it on my inner arms and sometimes I can't. Maybe TOM related?? Not sure. It's not cheap either! More to come about it's effectiveness... |
