because it is just so simple when you just do it like it is written.

Not to say that tweaking can't be done and still work, jut that it is no longer "Simeons Protocol" it is just a diet using hCG to help with weight loss, KWIM?

Other than frankenfoods I really do not believe that we have that much more than they had back then. What new veggies are really around that they didn't have in the early 60's?
That is my opinion in a nutshell. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If someone asks for OPINIONs on whether or not to cheat or to tweak then I will ALWAYS answer NO WAY. Why do it????? The plan is not forever and I think that people forget that. Also, do you think back in Dr Simeon's time there was broccoli and turkey. Sure there was!! He did NOT include it for a reason. We don't know that reason and I am not one to question. There are enough choices on the food list to pick from.

Heck I have a family of 6 and for the entire time I was on any P2 I had to feed them. My teenager son eats anything and everything. In the summer he was constantly in search of food. Then my youngest grazes all day too. I am constantly around food. And not just low carb choices because my family is not low carb. I am surrounded by a lot of not so healthy food. I even had to endure going out to eat with them. Torture--yes, but not an excuse to eat off plan. I brought my food with me and ate along with them. Yes, the smell of Chick Fil A was heaven, but not enough to tempt me. I wanted the scale to reward me in the morning, not me dreading it. Just my opinion and I am glad to see someone else agrees with me

Actually I don't think there was turkey, except seasonally around the holidays in Italy years ago when he practiced. But yes on the broccoli. And there were differences such as tuna only being packed in oil back then.

Even in the 70s when my grandmother raised turkeys here in Texsas...there was only one time of year to slaughter (sorry don't know a good word for that!).

I know Jennie-O was founded in '49, but I don't think turkey products were a popular food item until low fat came into fashion.

really? I would have thought that game birds (including turkey, and others) were pretty common most places and times. But then I am a midwestern girl. LOL

does Italy practice Thanksgiving or do you mean like Christmas? I always thought that thier traditional holiday feasts were different from our traditional turkey and trimmings.

eggs and most fruits and veggies most certainly were available.

They are a game bird but domestically raised. I think the slaughter time was almost entirely driven by Thanksgiving/Xmas, with the price too low for breeders to sell at other times. Not sure though, and she's not around to ask! She was a really driven woman...ran a florist shop also and traveled the world on floral conventions. Worked 60 hour weeks even in her 60s.

Paula I mean in Italy in the 60s. They don't have the same holiday traditions as we do, so turkey really was just another meat to them, year round. Like pork, beef, duck etc....

I agree for the most part.....not getting into the whole turkey business but I know that vitamins and the knowledge of vitamins have changed dramatically since the 60's and I intend when I start to keep taking my vitamins cause I don't believe for one second that all the fat that I burn will supply my body with all the vitamins I need.

The only thing i'm really interested in tweaking is how often you can start the rounds. I'd like to get more into going back to P2 from P3 but will work that out when I get to that part.

Speaking of doc..I am on the fence if I should tell mine! I go for my annual physical end of the month, I wonder if she will ask about my weight. lol
I am afraid to tell her how I lost the weight. Maybe I can say truthfully calorie cycling. lol

I'm not sure what my doc would think of this either... she's pretty progressive, but I really don't know. Let us know what you decide, Stevie.

I have told my Dh and my co-workers. My co-workers were supportive but laughed when they saw how little I was eating. Now that I have lost 18 lbs in 2 weeks a couple of them are getting interested in maybe starting Hcg too.

I also told my Mom and she thinks I am going to starve my body and have a heartattack or some such non-sense I told her I read about it and researched it before I started it and Im feeling great.

My doc told me that in no uncertain terms will she prescribe anything for weightloss, so you may not even ask her!! It is on her website. She told me that once my hormones got back in balance that I would drop the weight with no effort whatsoever. I am not that patient, I used hhcg!! She is thrilled that I lost what I needed to, but she has no clue how I did it!! Didn't even ask how I did it, just pleased I did!
