Stevie: I can't do just coffee without milk or cream. Have you had any issues with the half&half effecting you?

I'm going to try something different as I've seen a pattern of not losing, in fact, I stall when I eat chicken. I'll be purchasing an organic chicken today. I just haven't wanted to shell out the bucks for one
Maybe this will be different. We will see... Stevie, have you tried this before you wrote off eating chicken? |

Protocol allows for 1T of milk a day which I assume is the normal fat free stuff. I looked online yesterday and 1 ounce of ff milk is 9 calories and 1 ounce of ff half and half is 18 calories.
I've been toying with the idea of doing it, BUT .... it's the stevia that I can't handle. BLECH! I should try splenda and see what happens .... |

Jenifer, I know it's not recommended but I've used Truvia & did fine. I woke up with a 5 lb loss this morning after day 1 of vcld. I also used splenda a couple times last round. A friend of mine has used truvia everyday and she has lost close to 60 lbs. I figure if a packet of truvia costs me a pound or two off my total loss (which I don't think it is) that it's worth it to keep me on plan. I'm having a hard time already gagging chicken down, I'm gonna need more variety this round.

I know what you mean. I'm afraid I couldn't stop at the 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of allowed milk or half & half. I like my coffee to be light & sweet lol but yes I've had truvia but haven't had the Stevia drops. The truvia I've noticed is much sweeter per pack than splenda. I usually can get by with just a half packet in my tea vs a whole packet of splenda

Makeup,
our very own Linda Sue has a recipe that is simple for the stock Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes I just bake a chicken, strip it and put carcass in water. Then I slow simmer for 3 hours with bay leaf, pultry season or thyme and some s & p and celery. Then I strain the broth into a large pitcher and skim the fat of the next day. I also scoop in all the bits of chicken and celery and have that in the broth. I was guess a cup of broth is a measly 20/25 calories. And my food choices rarely get me to 500 it seems so it is an acceptable choice Especially when you get the season just right! It hits the spot. TW asked me about hnh...no problem at all. In the beginning, my first 36 day round, I only used sf torani vanilla syrup. Now I ditched that and use hnh and add in Stevia Sweetleaf Vanilla Cream drops. It took a bit getting used to it but it is a nice taste to me now. I probably average 3 tlbs a day! Also, the splenda packs at Trader Joes seem a bit milder, I know I have had some nasty, bitter tasting stevia. Yuck. So it pays to try new stuff. If you guys like splenda, stay with it....find what works to make this workable. Just note that I found out the bulk package of "Stevia in the raw" has a corn byproduct in it, malodex something or nuther. |

Today's VLCD2... was down 4.4 lbs from yesterday which is all my load weight plus 0.6 lbs.
![]() B: 2 1/2 mugs coffee w/cocoa & liquid stevia S: large apple L: mongolian beef w/cabbage, grissini S: 1/2 grissini D: schezwan chicken/celery stir fry, 1/2 grissini S: strawberry "smoothie" Beverages: 144 oz water, 2 mugs green tea, 1 mug chocolate Yerba Mate, Perrier w/lemon Okay... broth question... how do you skim the fat off the top? I made broth yesterday afternoon and put it all in one cup (16 of them) containers. There didn't seem to be much fat on the top (probably because I cut the fat off my chicken breasts before making it), so since I couldn't seem to skim it off... I just decided not to worry about it. BUT, I would like to know a method to do it if anyone cares to share. Thanks!

Debby, what a nice release, way to go!
Gee, thanks I hope I don't either. So I find myself busy chugging as much water as I can before bed. Sigh... I'll have to go back out and buy me ($$) some more organic chicken for my experiment that I ruined today. I was hoping to find out whether or not I could eat it and not stall. It sure was tasty though. ~Carol R2P2D10 - 10 pounds to go! |

Morning all!!
I did horrible on my food intake yesterday. I was so busy and out of the house all day. All I ate was 8 oz of cottage cheese. I had my lattes yesterday morning, but coffee, water and cottage cheese was all I ingested yesterday. Not good!! But I am down 2 lbs today. I won't make it a habit, but now I'm back down to before my goof weekend. Today we are looking at: B: coffee L: P2 chili, melba D: Beef w/cabbage S: 1/2 grapefruit |

Major LCF Poster!

Thanks Stevie for the recipe. I guess I can try my hand at baking a chicken just to make broth lol!! I can always use the meat without the skin and fat as P2 meals. I haven't baked a chicken ever.
I won't post menus. Mine are pretty much always the same thing. I eat ground beef ex lean and cabbage for both meals. Apple usually for a snack and breakfast. I drink tea and water all day. Some days I venture out. Usually Im kinda keeping it basic. Makeup ![]() |

lol, birds are signing. Love it cjoy!
Looking good all! Debby, nothing fancy...I just take a big spoon and scoop it into the trash Once you make the broth a few times, you get a better rhythm, In the beginning I was all over the place! lol TOM on my heels and I tried the Biz shake. Up a pound. Sigh..Hopefully today I can counter it and get more water in today then I did yesterday. That's life on the dieting wheel! Food today: decaf, hnh, stevia vanilla 3 liters of water with a mix of 1 can of Black cherry Zevia homemade chicken broth with chicken/celery broth with no chicken lean burger radishes, sliced thin, steamed and sauteed in butter extract with s&p supplements |

Woo hoo! Love to see those losses, ladies!
I just added Splenda to my coffee. We'll see if it affects me tomorrow. I also used WAY more than 1T of ff milk, but since I'm not eating my grissini, hopefully the calories will work themselves out. LOL CJoy, thanks for the idea of using tomato as a fruit (I know it's techincally a fruit, but it's been branded in my head as a veggie!). I'm going to try that the next time I do ground beef! |

Baking a chicken is easy peasy. Rinse it, put it "breast up" in a shallow bake dish. Sprinkle with season, insert into oven. I bake mine at 350, usually to 180 temp. so that equates to about 1:45. and um, truth be told, I eat the skin. I know! I am so bad. I weighed it and calculated. Its less then an ounce and 80 calories or something.I cannot resist! And here I was a vegetarian for years and years. lol Hope you are sticking to it and getting super close to goal! |

I tried getting it out with a spoon, and it seemed that I ended up getting good broth too. Didn't want to waste the broth. It (the fat, I assume) just looked like a very thin film on the top of the broth. Is that what I'm supposed to be skimming off?

What about if you refrigerated it? The fat should solidify and make it easier to scoop, leaving the delicious broth in the container!
