Hi guys,

Hope everyone enjoys their day. Thankfully, I did the dinner thing with family yesterday, and just a simple day for us today. I really struggled last week with getting going on the Rotation diet, I'd pull 1.5 good days, then cave in to the carb cravings. But I definitely noticed that by the second VLCD, my water retention was down, and my weight was back in my stall range, so it seems I can't gain much more than a pound or two with 4 or 5 days of high calorie eating, and most of the bloat is just water - which is all taken care of with a day or two of VLCD. That's a good thing.

I got the carb cycling book and lots of good info in there about hormones and metabolism, catabolism and anabolism. I'm very excited to learn more about it. I also got the JUDDD book, so I've got those two and the Rotation diet book to read this week to keep me inspired and motivated.

Since I have the freedom today, it's a VLCD, low carb day, and hopefully I can get into this combo rotation diet/carb cycling plan I want to do.

Oh - today I also made some LC muffins with coconut, almond flour and hemp protein powder. From the Ursula Solom book, banana coconut muffins, p.74. Subbed more almond flour instead of the soy protein powder, and instead of cream cheese, I used coconut milk + lemon juice, thickened with a tsp of psyllium - it worked, and I'm excited to have a gluten and dairy free low carb treat for both my daughter and I. For me, these kinds of things will help me stay to my plans on lower carb days.

So basically just a muffin today, unlimited veggie soup, and a slice or two of almond bread, for a LC VLCD. I'm looking forward to getting back on track and breaking through 150 for good this time... sometimes with me it's two steps forward and one step back, but each step is still another step closer to goal as long as I don't give up It's important to me to change my habits, dieting in a healthy way will help me overcome stress eating, and I'm in a stressful time right now. If I wasn't taking care of my diet and overweight, I'd just be stuffing myself silly and would be 160-170 lbs within a few months. So this rogue diet is actually a lifesaver for me.

Have a great day and look forward to seeing everyone back.

You are on an alternate plan right? You can do whatever you choose to do. If you have been eating VLCAL then add things in slowly... but definately EAT... if you are hungry.

I think I did one day of lower cals after drops, but then went right up from there.. no way was I going to starve... good luck!!!...you don't want to go crazy either... just add things in you love, a bit at a time.

Hi all. I've been following your board for a bit and I am going to join you here. I've been doing the Medi Weight Loss program since late August and it's been going great, but it's a lot to bear financially. I'm going to go ahead and try to complete my weight loss using drops and the basic eating habits (Low carb/low fat meat and fruits/veggies) that I learned with Medi.

I've pretty much eaten myself silly for the past few days (I'll call it loading, but really it was just holiday indulgence). I'm ready to start back tomorrow on the new plan.

I'm hypothyroid (Medi figured that out, bless them!), so I'll get new blood work in January to see how things are going. I'm excited for my next step!

Carina,
I love reading your posts, you are very motivating. I agree the rogue way has saved me too... from endless feelings of failure. At least I know there is a way to goal now. There is no failure. WE decide how the plan will go, and I love that.

Happy losing to you!!!

Starting LCD Today!

Hey everyone I decided to load on the 24th & 25th so today startes my LCD. So I guess you could say that it is day #3 on the hHCG and day #1 of my LCD. I am somewhat nervous so I will not lie to you about that. Why? IDK, maybe I think I will be the one it does not work for. So anyhooo, I will be checking in from time to time and let you all how it is going. I will not be posting everyday my weigh in because I know me and it would drive me batty with how my weight fluctuates. My load days went ok and boy did I sometimes feel like I was going to burst. I guess my worse fear is that I gainned weight on load days and the weight will NOT come off.
Well here is to a New Year coming and a better us!
Happy releasing!

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone had a great holiday! I'm worn out from yesterday...red eyes this morning. Up .8 out of my window. Not sure if it's sodium bloating or out of ketosis from the variety of foods I chose (thought I went all lowcarb, but hard to count when you're getting a bit of this and a bit of that). I'm betting it will be gone tomorrow, so not stressing over it...though I hate to see the 150 number again!

Hope everyone has a great day. The day *after* Christmas is usually my favorite. I'm a homebody at heart! Being lazy and skipping church this morning and letting everyone sleep in. I mean we were just there Friday night and it was awesome...the telling of the biggest story ever told from Mary's point of view as a mom.

And hey, I got a gift card to Dillards, so can't wait to hit up their New Year's Day sale and collect some new bras! I wonder what time they open?!

Hope everyone had fun and is getting ready to focus on a new and slimmer you.

Morning all! Today will be a lazy day here at our house b/c we are snowed in!! I live in NC and we have about 6" right now and it is still coming. It is so beautiful!

I can't wait until I am finished with my antibiotics so I can get going on my drops again. I am 148.5 this morning and still hope to lose a little more before I begin my drops again. I too have a fear that they will not work for me, but I won't know til I get started. I am a little jealous of those of you are starting now. Lame, I know! Can't wait to read everyone's progress.

Maggie- those were my exact thoughts when I started at Thanksgiving. Now here I am one month later and 14.8 pounds smaller It will work. Some days will be harder, some will be easier, but you will be rewarded if you stick with it!

I have decided to call yesterday my LDW. I was .2 higher on the scale this morning, after perfect eating yesterday, so I didn't dose this morning. My plan for today is to continue plan foods, but double my protein. That will take me up to about 800 calories. Thanks for your advice Deb

Here's how my round went: I started out doing strict protocol. I did go to a party on my 7th day (did ok). I went to another party on my 15th day, stuck to P3 type foods (really enjoyed eating some fat ) I think the most important thing is that I went right back to protocol after each incident. After 2 weeks I started experimenting a little. I would do two protocol days, then have a day where I added liberal amounts of fat, then go straight back to protocol. Before I started, I wasn't sure this was going to work for me. I was HOPING to maybe lose 10 pounds. I was totally excited to have lost 11 pounds by the 2 week mark, so I decided to lower my goal. I decided to shoot for 130, which would have been 16 pounds. Then on Tuesday last week, I lost it. I went into an all-out sugar binge. I can't even calculate how much I ate. I was totally out of control. But, you know what- it wasn't the end of the world. What matters most is what you do next. I went back to strict protocol the next day. That was a really tough day to get through because the carb cravings were hitting really bad. But I made it, and I followed strict protocol the next day also and felt much better. It took three days of plan eating to make up for the binge. It was SO not worth it

146 after 2 loading days
143.8 -2.2
142.2 -1.6
140.4 -1.8
139.8 -0.6
139.8 -0.0

135.2 -0.0
135.0 -0.2 Total pounds lost week 2 = 3.2 Total pounds lost to date = 11

135.8 +0.8 Ate high fat/salty food yesterday
134.0 -1.8
133.6 -0.4

Hey Everyone! Hope you all had a Very Merry.

Started back on drops yesterday, so today is my second load day. I gained back to a set point over the last month and maintained there - but at least I am still down 25 pounds from where I started Low Carb in May.

I have been maintaining the 169 for wesince Thanksgiving without drops and without watching what I eat at all. (Yes- cake, pizza, hoagies, holiday foods) So now that the "need to feed" holidays are over I am back in the game.

I am so impressed by all of you who stayed the course these last few weeks. You are amazing.

Julie - you look awesome - cute top, too! Thanks for the welcome.

I gained just under 4 pounds on my holiday feasting. I need to purge the refrigerator to get rid of the rest of the junk that's still lurking in there.

We took my son sledding today. It was so nice to have it not be physically draining to do so. I was also psyched that I wasn't worried about jumping on the sled with him for a run. In the past I would have been concerned about breaking it.

Thanks Deb, that's quite the compliment coming from you, who is so motivating to so many of us! And you're so good at responding to so many different people who post on here - don't know how you do it, but you've got a way with giving your time with caring and supportive feedback to so many people!

There is no failure, as long as we never give up - the only variable is time. Happy losing to you also!

I bet you'll be in jeans soon! Keep melting away like you have been, and keep an eye open for jeans that are specially made to fit pear shapes, and you've got it! I just picked up this month's Shape magazine and they had some kind of guide on selecting the best jeans for your body type, things like that can really help you find a brand that will work and look great.

Introducing myself

Hi Folks!

I thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. I finally decided I want to try the HCG diet (using homeopathics) and was delighted to find out there was an HCG thread on LowCarbFriends!

You all seem like a sassy, irreverent, spunky group, and I think I will fit right in!

About me:

I've been an on-and-off lowcarber since (gasp!) 2003, and I think I have been a member of this board for about that long as well.

Currently, I am probably 10-15 lbs above goal... I've been avoiding the scale, and will face it in the morning. I get pretty obsessive if I weigh too often. I'm not actually terribly unhappy with my current shape and size ( I'm a size 5) but am terribly small framed and short, and look better a bit lighter. Problem is, if I get my booty to the size I like it, my upper b body and face get scrappy. I'm hoping this diet can help with some reshaping.

I have been WAY off any imaginable wagon lately, and want to kick myself back in shape. Amazingly, my weight is pretty stable, even with the dietary disaster I've been calling food.

This is my first try with HCG, and I just ordered the a book and the drops... so will be waiting until they arrive to start. I am thinking I will try doing it by the book, but am interested in the ways that people are having success tweaking it around, too... so, with HCG, I am a total newbie, and could use all the support and advice you lovelies have to offer.

I look forward to getting to know you all! And I also look forward to digging my skinny jeans out of storage, too!

Great! Being back in the game feels GOOD!!

That is wonderful!!! The most important part of weight loss is being FREE to do what you want to do without worrying about your body, or if it will do what you want it to.... congrats!!!!

There is no failure, as long as we never give up - the only variable is time. Happy losing to you also!
Thank you hon!!

Thank you Carina... I definately need jeans that will fit a pear shape and be COMFORTABLE!.. which is number 1 for me at this age... No, not old, just not worried about how my butt looks anymore....

Wonderful WELCOME!!! Glad to have you and looking forward to seeing how you do!

My doctor is now offering the Hcg program at her office. She said that it's approximately a 28 day program. Cost $800 for the shots, book, and support. She quaranteed that I'd lose at least 1-2 lbs. a day. Thopse of you following this plan, do you get the injections or use just the drops. And if the later, how do the drops work?

Thanks and good luck to you all!

I've done the injections and the drops. I lost the same amount per day both times. Had a few more TOM side effects with the injections - but not sure if it was their fault or just the fact that I was finally losing weight after being stalled for 3 years, and losing weight all on its own affects TOM.

I am leery of your doctor "guaranteeing" that you would lose 1-2 pounds a day.

Women tend to lose .5 to 1 pound per day, men more. But I lose 1/2 pound per day, average, and I'm quite happy with that!

I have ended up using the drops for all my rounds but the first because 1) they are cheap and 2) I think they help a bit more with hunger than the shots, at least for me.

WOW.. I was searching on the internet for lowcarb/HCG rogue diets when I just stumbled upon this forum/thread. I've been researching various things for the past month with the goal of starting a new diet/health plan with the New Year... I've had a very long and eventful year that I can go into details with but to sum it up I'll just make a little list at the end of this thread. Basically. I have had much success in the past with Low carb diets and was doing well in 2009 when things happened (see below)
So I've had many friends recently having much success on the HCG diet, however.. my scientific brain (and Nursing Degree) is very scared of low calories diets (500-600 calorie et al)

I had decided on low carb dieting with HCG drops and have already ordered and recieved my drops in anticipation of my start date. This thread (and combination of threads) hs been a fabulous insite and VERY encouraging. Each and every one who has posted has had valuble information and I look forward to getting to know you all. (Granted I'm not booted out for hyjacking a thread LOL)

Anyway.. Thank you ladies for these threads..its been very comforting to see some people having success on what I want to do, but was unsure if it would work.. I am encouraged and thrilled to have found it!

Start date January 2, 2011 - (gotta get my black eye peas in on the first.. I need all the luck I can get)

1. After losing 34 pounds since Jan -1 on a low carb diet and exercising - On Sept 5th 2009 - Heart attack at age 40
2. Clean cath - no blockages - attributed to Sleep Apnea - Started on CPAP
3. Dec 2009 - Finally becoming comfortable enough to walk on my tready without fear of dropping dead
4. January 8th, 2010 - Another heart attack NSTEMI back in hospital for even MORE tests
5. Doctors found aneurysm on my LAD (vessel on the heart) from the Cath back in September - It was throwing clots and responsible for both MI's
6 Feb 8th 2010 - Open heart surgery for bypass of 8cm Aneurysm on LAD using LIMA (artery from left breast) and yes, full open chest - Aneurysms this size don't qualify for key hole surgery.. they want to SEE it..
7.After 3 months off work.. finally getting to return to work.. Change in Job description and position to Paperwork and no more floor nursing for me.
8. Sept 2010 - still have clicking in chest and crepitus from sternum... 3 sternal wires broken.. determined that I would need surgery for sternal talons.
9. Surgery on Dec 7th, 2010. At home stil recouperating with 2 more weeks left off work and THANKFUL to have a job to go back to.
10. Here I am, feeling better than I have in years and ready to get my life BACK on Track from where I started in 2009!!!

Tadah!!!
So..
HERE I AM!

Tucky
(Please.. no sympathy, I am WELL, I am HAPPY, and I am ALIVE!!!!)
