Correction Day

Good morning. I stayed on protocol...but ate some salty foods...and today I have gained a whole TWO pounds from yesterday. I don't understand how I could gain two pounds in one night. Has anyone done that in P3?

Obviously, I have to do a correction day. What is my BEST option?? Is there an option where I can have half/half in my coffee? Or do I need to have it black??

P.S. I have hovered around 1.5 over LDW this whole time...so I am 3.5 OVER. I need the BEST release option. Beef has caused me to gain before...but I want the best option...in your most expert opinions. ))))))))))))))

Thanks you so much!!! Amelia

The best option is right from Dr S's manuscript!! Steak day. Good luck. I have done steak days with coffee and use cream in every cup. Has not hurt my losses while doing it.

Oh, and drink butt loads of water to flush away the sodium intake from yesterday--I am talking a minimum of 4 liters!!! That will do wonders too.

Thanks Dawn. I am SO mad...because I had a party at my house and refrained from all of the desserts and yummy stuff...only to have a gain. I don't understand how I could gain TWO pounds in one night.

What type of steak do I need to buy??? And can I grill it??? And a tomato, right? Ugh. Thanks for the advice. I'd be lost without you all.

Its only water. It will be gone tomorrow. You can eat any kind of steak...and cook it any way you want. Hang in there....

A fatty cut of meat--do not cut the fat off. I usually do a ribeye but have done my last steak day with a T-bone. I also try to get at least a pound in---by myself. And Peggy is right...you did NOT gain 2 lbs of fat in one night--it is just water. A tomato is best to help in the digestion of the steak. I don't hear an apple is best to go with the steak so I try to do the tomato, but you can do the apple. You asked for the "best" correction day and I feel if you do it by the book (remember that I tout doing it by the book every where I post LOL) you will get the results you desire.

But if you don't "do well" with beef, there are other correction days to try. I am not sure what you mean by not doing well with beef! There is an egg day and a shake day and a nut day. But those are all listed in the P3 thread. The one that lists the "safe foods" for P3.

I totally feel for you. You do nothing wrong and go up in weight. Frustrating as all get out. That has been me too in this P4 I am doing. I had a stellar P3 with not a single day above my window. This past week I have been over my window more than in it. I wish P4's rules were cut and dry like P2!!

Thank you ladies. I shouldn't have said I don't do well with beef....it is the salt I don't do well with. And the one time I have had beef...I also had a gain the next morning. I think I just got so used to losing, it is hard to see the scale go back up. I will do the steak day...and hope and pray I can release these two pounds.

There was a poster on here when I first started way back when who ate chicken on all her rounds. She just did it that way. She loved her steak days. Had great releases and everything. Then she learned that any other time she had beef she gained!!!! So it can be that you may gain from the steak day. Don't freak out---when I tried an egg day once I felt it didn't work. But the day after my egg day weigh in I lost the weight I needed to. In other words, you might not see the results ON THE SCALE til 2 days after your correction day. Hence the reason we call it "the 2-day effect". You might not see any results from a cheat or a correction for 2 days. Keep that in mind.

Good luck. I hope you see a loss tomorrow! Send me an email in the morning and let me know. I've been SO busy at work and exhausted in the evenings that I've not been on this site in days!!!

After a successful P3 I ventured out into the unknown (or was it) and BAM, in one day I was up and over the 2 lb limit.

Whatever happens, it'll work itself out, you'll see. I just had a steak/tomato day and plenty of water this evening. Tomorrow I'll have a clean P3 then Wednesday I should be where I need to be. Of course, by Thursday I'll have tried something new again, oh joy

Yeah!! Now that you have done one and see that it works you can venture out and try the other correction days. Wait....let us hope there are no other reasons you should need one

Yes, very much so. And knowing it was the salt problem made it easy to rectify.

I love steak. I think I could do a steak day just because I love steak LOL In fact there have been days on LC when I had just cold sliced leftover steak for lunch and then had DH grill more steak for supper But then I usually also have some spinach or asparagus with the supper.

There is a correction day where you can have the asparagus with your steak if you so desire!! The asparagus is a diuretic veggie and one that Biz approves of while doing a CD.

I don't eat chicken or red meat. I've done "steak days" with mahi mahi, yellow or blue fin tuna, as well as swordfish with great losses! I always eat a tomato and add a teaspoon of olive oil and spices while cooking. I avoid salt (or spice mixes with salts) for these meals. Unfortunately I've had to do a few this holiday season!

Today I'm down 3.2 lbs two days after my very first steak/tomato day, 2.2 lbs the morning after and 1 lb this morning - I am now .8 below my LDW!!!

Note
Dinner: Crockpot chicken (dark & white), brown rice, celery, onion, bean sprouts and water chestnuts thickened with arrowroot and baked in the oven. Mmmm, it was fabilicious.

Snack: 3 SF Pecan and Caramel Chocolates

Bring on those legumes, ma!

Question:
How many of you did the steak days exactly to protocol, and how many of you divided up steak and tomato between lunch and dinner? (sorry if this was addressed elsewhere - I think I have "fog-brain"!

I follow protocol. With being able to drink all day long I feel no need to split the meals into 2. But I do prepare my steak ahead of our typical dinner time meal. The family eats at 6 or 6:30. When I do a steak day I am eating by 5PM!!!!

Ok - thank you.
I'm changing my mind - and thinking I will do a steak day today.

I believe in trying to go by the book the first time around, so I plan to go to the market, and then see how long I can load up on water and wait to eat - maybe more like 3pm.

Well then, maybe an egg day would suit you better LOL. But you can only have eggs--no additions like peppers, onion, cheese. Just eggs. But you can have about a dozen if you so wish!!

I don't know that I would actually eat 12 eggs. That would be 200 mg of cholesterol X 12 eggs for a total of 2400+mg of cholesterol. Aack!
