No, you didn't read it wrong (great memory) ... I just woke up this morning 1.2 pounds lighter and I really wanted that to be my LDW so I squeezed out an extra day of my drops So, we will be just one day apart! I was going to start Jan 2 but after reading Torister's post about loading on Christmas ... I envisioned sugar plums (more like cookies and chocolate) dancing in my head!!! so... I"m loading up on Christmas Wanna join us or do you have fab New Year's Plans? I always work New Years so I'm asleep at mdn... not too worry about a cheat there!

Hi Emi, how did you know your drops weren't good? I've been ravenous since I started VLC 6 days ago and have wondered if it's the drops. Today is a teensy bit better, but still very hungry. It's frustrating because I can't figure out what the problem is and so I don't know how to fix it I tried adjusting dosage (both up and down) but that hasn't helped.

If it's not the drops, then I don't know what else it could be. I'm waiting it out, but sometimes I have moments where I don't know if I can. Plus - a big plus - I want to be sure the drops are what's getting the weight off rather than the low calorie diet. I don't want to be losing muscle, I want to be losing fat!

I understand that not loading properly can cause hunger, but to the point of being hungry all the time? For 6 days, with the first 5 being starving? When could I expect the hunger to go away if improper loading was the cause?

I had candida issues causing my hunger my first round. After 7-10 days, it started to settle down. I did have to make some changes to my plan (I never did the melba and ditched the fruit - being prediabetic and with candida tummy I just couldn't hack it).

You drinking warm tea? Broth? Either of those helping you? I have to say with my tweaked plan this time (more protein, always 500 calories) I've had my least hungry round.

The potassium also seems to help some people.

R1P2 VLCD9. Loss since yesterday: 1 lb.

I'm excited that it's quite possible I'll see the 180s by the end of the weekend. The last time I was there was over 4 years ago before I had a hysterectomy.

My first round I was starving for about 10 days. The second round I was starving for maybe 5-7. Then it just went away. I definitely think it's improper loading. I loaded with way too many carbs and sugar the first time. Hunger for the first week is completely normal.

And like Em, my drops stopped working 28 days into round 2. I was ok one day, then BAM... was starving. Hunger this far into it is not normal and probably means drops are not working.

R2,P2,VLCD #3 after 13 day interruption or day #31 of round 2
Weight on VLCD#1(9-28-10): 175.8
Yesterday's weight: 165.6
Today's weight: 164.6
# gain/loss from yesterday: -1 lbs

I'm still totally underwhelmed. Any other day, I'd be jumping up and down with a .8 or a 1 lb loss. The first few days are supposed to be huge losses! I better catch up after TOM leaves. I better!

On a good note, I haven't been very hungry. That is very good. Usually, I'm starving the first week.

Yesterday's menu:
Breakfast: coffee with stevia
Lunch: Ground meat and cabbage, grissini
Snack: apple
Dinner: P2 chili

Are you coming back from an interruption or did you complete P3 and P4? After an interruption your losses in the beginning may not be like starting a whole new round. Be patient, the losses will pick back up - your body just needs to get back in the flow of the protocol. Plus, 1 pound is pretty good!! No worries, stress will only make it harder for your body to release those pesky pounds.

Good morning everyone, its a great day to loose some weight.

I cant wait for TOM to be over- its messed up this month. I want to check my weight but I am afraid TOM will discourage my numbers.

So sorry to hear you are sick as well. It must be the weather/time change. That is what my DH says. I just don't know but it sucks to be so sick. Hope you feel better soon. I know you don't have a cold, but sick is sick!!! And yeast is a beast to get rid of too!!! I wish you well sooner rather than later.

no "virgin" weight loss yet my start weight this time was 207 my all time low on DrS is 197...
following plan as written the only "tweaks" is that I'm trying the WF products to give me a little flavor.
WF bacon ranch ** (needs salt & pepper)
WF hickory BBQ *** (thin but good flavor)
WF peanut spread ** 1/2 (lighter than store PB more of a sunflower butter needed salt)
WF Chocolate dip *****!! (had on my brekkie apple sweet fudgey taste)

Did you do a full 6 week break in between your R1 and R2? The reason I ask is that maybe if you are cycling and this is just after an interruption and not a true break that is the reason for less of a loss. I would take that loss right about now! As much as I am enjoying P3...I would love to lose some more weight! Tempting!

Thanks Dawn! I went to gyne yesterday and got Diflucan and my last day of the antibiotics is today. She told me the weirdest thing - I have a hernia "down there" , not like a normal hernia. She said it's from childbirth!!! So, since my DD Erin (18 months) was born she has broken my tailbone on the way out, had to have my appendix out, and now a hernia!!! She did come out like a freight train with no meds - I don't think my body will EVER be the same

No, I did a 13 day "interruption" because my drops stopped working and I had to wait on new ones to arrive. I kinda sorta loaded over the weekend and gained 2.4 lbs. (Ate a few things I shouldn't have) I expected to lose it the first few days and I haven't.

Morning all.
Interruption ended today. I did a 12 day P3/interruption. I am traveling here in Seattle but starting up R2 anyway. I am up 2 pounds from my window which is acceptable since I have been eating out since Sunday.

Will be more chatty when I get home from trip.

Congrats to Dawn...enjoy your P3.

When I started R2, I completely loaded on carbs, and it took me a week to get off those pounds! I think that's part of what made my R2P2 so hard. 1.8 lbs in two days is fantastic under the circumstances. It's hard, but try to keep a little perspective and give yourself a break. You're doing well!

Oh my goodness What an ordeal you have had. I blame my bad back on my kids--the chiropractor even told me I should NOT have had my last baby. I blame them for all my back problems. And why not since my mom did the same thing to me. Now you can blame her for your problems too They are so worth it though.....I would NOT trade my kids for any thing And this from a mom who is wondering why her 14 yr old has totally given up on school He seems to think he can stop getting good grades, just when they start to count the most!! He was a straight A student. He has had the roughest transition to high school and I feel bad for him but 10 + weeks later he needs to get with the program. Sorry about the rant. Just a little frustrated today is all.

Btw, I love Diflucan. But I usually have to ask for 3 pills. It really works well.

Hey, I have done the same thing. I am a bit compulsive about numbers and once when I ended on a 114.something the next day I was 114 so I changed my LDW and last dosing day too!!! I could remember the LDW better if it didn't have the .something on it. I am not going to do another round (crossing toes and fingers here!) because I am at goal. But if I find myself above LDW by too much I will do another round, but not until spring. I have had it with protocol for a while. This round kicked me to the curb, drove all over me and squashed me like a bug!!! I am not eager to start again any time soon.

Good luck on your P3!!! May we both stabilize well. And since I work at Starbucks the only holiday I get is Christmas. We are open every other holiday--there was a note there on Mon night that we all will be working at least a few hours on Thanksgiving--so this year will be different because I will be at work!!!! Last year I got off because my Grandma died, but this year I hope to be at work. I sure don't want someone else to die for me to get the holiday off.

My 14 yo (8th grade) is also having problems. He's had straight As every six weeks in 6th & 7th grade. He got two Bs this six weeks, and has had some awful progress reports. I think it's hormones giving him a BAD attitude. He just rips thru his homework and is getting poor grades on them and not always understanding what's going on. Science is his worst, and the teacher has told us that their are only 3 boys in the class. He's also going thru major growth spurt the past 3 months and his voice has changed. It's a lot to contend with I suppose.

I'm still totally underwhelmed.
I just finished a similar interrupted type round (14 days P3 with the 14th being a fat loading day). My first week's #s were:
1.4
0.6
1.6
1.2
0.6
-0.4 (TOM related gains)
-1

Anyways, despite the low #s the first week, it has been one of my best rounds when looked at overall. On round 2 I was on VLCD 6 before I lost the loading weight, and this time it was off after the first day. I have a suspicion that the carb loading gains take longer and longer to work off, the further along we are in our journeys. Hopefully your #s will pick up a bit!

Science is his worst, and the teacher has told us that their are only 3 boys in the class. He's also going thru major growth spurt the past 3 months and his voice has changed. It's a lot to contend with I suppose.
I never thought of hormones. I thought he was done with that all but I don't think so. His voice is changing and he has pimples galore. So that very well could be it. But his attitude toward school has changed. My kids by nature would never back talk to a teacher, always did as was told. He was to go to a presentation after school for a class last week. He was to go and it was for a grade. He decided he was not going to show up for it. He saw no reason to go to it. Little did he know that I got an invitation to it as well. He ended up going, did the assignment and got a good grade. But if I had not gotten the invitation.....he is not one to blow off an assignment like that. So unlike him. He also turns in assignments late. He went from straight As and Bs to straight Bs and Cs. First Cs ever in his 9 years of school We are dumbfounded as parents and just scratching our heads in disbelief

Oh yeah, my back is SHOT too I wouldn't trade it for the world either!!! I also am not looking forward to my son (11) turning a teenager. I can already see the beginning of the "attitude" starting. But, he still comes into my room at night to snuggle before going to bed He would NEVER let his friends know that Did you try taking away things he likes - say video games or computer? If my son falls behind on his school work I take away his PS3 until it is done - believe me it gets done much FASTER!!!

Yeah, we tried that Gracie and it won't work. He doesn't get to play the PS3 during the week anyhow. Just weekends so that is not a distraction. Which is why we are dumbfounded. He is convinced he needs his cell phone to do homework with. We took the cell away last night so he would at least start and he begged for it, saying he needed it. We said, no you don't. He wanted to know how much money was needed for a field trip he will be going on in 2 weeks. He did not need to know at 9PM at night!!! He just has issues to work on---mainly procrastination!!! Unfortunately the one trait from me I wish I would NOT have passed on!! LOL.

Hmmmmm, just a hunch but does he have a girlfriend? Wanting the cell phone while doing homework is odd. My DS has a cell phone and I check ALL of the text messages/incoming & outgoing calls etc. He is only 11 years old though so I feel like I must make sure he isn't doing anything weird!!! You would be shocked at the texts my 11 y.o. gets from girls. I tell him he's not allowed to answer if they are asking him questions about other people etc. These girls will ask him how much he likes them on a scale of 1-100, who is prettier, who does he like better???? C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Can you secretly check his phone and see if he is texting/talking with a girl. That would be enough to get his hormones going!!!!

No, not at all. We are encouraging him to find a girlfriend!!! But alas no. He has tons of girls that are friends.....he is everyone's buddy. That is another problem. He is just too social!! I hope he comes out of whatever funk he is in real soon. Like now!! Before his grades really do suffer.
