I agree with Jen, there are many ways to make this work for us. Thank you to everyone who posts in these threads and shares their experiments, plans, ways of tweaking... it really does help someone else..

So this is my week or two to maintain, I am just playing with the cals/carbs and alternating days... Sunday and Monday were pretty high days and I gained a pound. Tuesday was a mid carb day/ mod cal. Lost 1.8. Wednesday, ended up with about 1700 cals/ higher carb and stayed the same. Sooooooooooo no conclusions, just that I am now .8 down for the week, and eating VERY WELL... I'm happy.

Marci,
Thanks for the recipe! I have everything but the mustard seed so I'll make a batch today without it, but I think I will pick some up next time I get to the bulk store.
I really need something to dip my celery in!

I am in northern Ohio and thankfully, we didn't get the storm as bad as predicted. No damage here, very thankfully!

I don't use mustard seed, I use the sf horseradish mustard! YUM. It's a very veristile recipe! Enjoy!

Glad you also 'weathered' the storm!

Well I lost the 22 pounds in the first round following it to a "t". This round has been a bit slower. I am day 27 and a loss of 15 pounds as of today. I had a five day interruption this round as well. I stick to protocol pretty much but I do have cream in my coffee and I have lots of coffee. I also mix my veggies and once in a while I have a handful of nuts. I love being a rebel.

I must say I'm having a dickens of a time keeping my calories AND carbs low! It's like I have to choose between one or the other. So far the carbs have been close to 20, some days lower. I can't hardly believe I did 500 calories a day for so long! Dr. S.'s plan must have a fair amount of carbs? Veggies, fruit & bread ... probably about 100 carb grams? Probably more.

Average apple=75 calories, 20 carbs
Average orange=70 calories, 12 NET carbs
Average grapefruit=75 calories, 14 NET carbs
20 average strawberries=80 calories, 4 NET carbs

Eating two fruit a day is 'about' 150 calories and 24 to 40 carbs! The breadsticks/melbas are probably more.

Went over a bit yesterday, about 1200 calories, and no loss. SO, I think I'm going to need to figure out how to stay below 1,000 calories a day preferably closer to 800! Those who are staying between 800-1,000 calories and under 20 carbs, please tell me what you're eating!!!

Morning.

2.2 drop overnight. I think we can say stall is definitely gone (this is my biggest drop the whole round).

Don't know if eating later helped, or it was just time for the scale to move.

Weight loss is an extremely mysterious thing! I will try to stop worrying and obsessing and just let it happen (hmm, I always say this and never follow thru!)

Holy smokes! That is a great release.

And it is mysterious. Some releases just don't makes sense. It really is not just the calories in/calories out thing. And there are some variables that we can't control and can't even identify.

I am stoked that I put on a size 8 Gap pair of pants yesterday that fit great!! Haven't worn them since like 2005 or so. (OK, maybe they're a little out of style, but I still like them.) Just being in a single digit size in a pair of pants is awesome! I am a pear, so pants are what really tell the tale.

Just working on these last 8 lbs..... then I'll start investing in a more up-to-date wardrobe. In the meantime I am glad I held on to some of these things so that I actually have something to wear.

Single-digits?

I am getting more and more stoked for my WI on Saturday. Last night, I was unable to finish my dinner (Huh?? ) and have leftovers for lunch. I "cook for one", so this is tres bizarre. I also measured my waist this a.m., and am down 1". So I am not imagining being less apple-y. I love The Juice That Makes Pants Loose! And I love my fellow Rogues! We are rockin' this program in our own unique ways.

Good morning! I was just wondering how much cream people use in their coffee. Is HWC better than half/half in regards to calories and carbs? Just curious, because I may start using the heavy whipping cream instead for my coffee next week. Thanks fellow “tweakers”

Hi Marci,
I am staying under 20 carbs. Here's yesterday's menu:
2 scrambled eggs with salsa (197 cal 1.9 carbs)
2 slices of bacon (54 cals .1 carbs)
6 ounces of P2 chili with ground chicken instead of beef (400 cal 4 carbs) I eat this in two sittings
Small amount of sour cream for the chili around .25 of an ounce (15 cals and 0.3 carbs)
Coffee w/ 3 half and halfs (60 cals and 2 carbs)
Total=726 calories
8.3 carbs

Marci, are subtracting fibre from the carbs or straight carbs? I know apples are high in fibre.

Jenmay I use heavy whip cream because it has less sugar than half and half. I use probably 4 tbsp. in a 16 oz. coffee and I have two of them a day so probably a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of hwc a day.

You are right ... but the data I've checked shows only about 3-4 g fiber in a medium apple, so they'd still be a tad carby at 15g or so.

I'm thinking VEGGIES are a key that I've overlooked ... low in calories, low in carbs! Salads, here I come!

Well, am having a DD (lower cal)-a protein shake at noon and probably a pork chop for supper. Haven't had my coffee yet, it's noon, but probably will do that too.
Yesterday on my higher cal day I had coffee with cream, hamburger 6 ounces, baked chicken 4 ounces, and a deviled egg.
I think the scale moved down a pound, finally, but what I did notice was that I am back in ketosis-all the time I was trying to follow the protocol I was out of ketosis, not losing weight-hard to lose the loading weight, even. But figuring out the carbs in 2 apples and 2 servings of cooked vegetables, sometimes the gressini-no wonder, it was probably about 70 carbs a day and that is way, way over what I can tolerate.
That might work for some people, but it sure can't for me.
But I was losing inches all over, even though the scale wouldn't move, still can't figure out what that was all about.
Had my annual check up yesterday, told my MD about the Hcg and she had a fit, literally, walked out in a huff. Oh, well, I won't see her for a year, by that time she should have forgotten it.

I stopped seeing doctors, doing checkups, all that stuff ... I only see them in emergencies now....although I am monitored for bp every six months. So far my doc is VERY compliant!

It didn't work for me either. After the first week on Protocol on Round 1 I dropped even the lower carb fruits and upped fat & protein. I never even tried the melba...I knew it'd be an eating trigger. I'm hypoglycemic (since age 5) and prediabetic so I just don't think it works for folks like us.

Nice job on the 8's!! THat's my final goal. I am in my 10's (which like you said are a bit high waisted from a few years ago, but fine for the in between. I did break down and bought 2 pairs of jeans yesterday. Too much baggy butt!! Size 10 levi's from Kohls and I'm wearing them (proudly) today!! I have a new pair of the jr.s size 13 Levis' too, but may hold on to them in hopes of exchanging them for 11's in a few weeks.

I also measured my waist this a.m., and am down 1". So I am not imagining being less apple-y. I love The Juice That Makes Pants Loose! And I love my fellow Rogues! We are rockin' this program in our own unique ways.
Love it!! The "juice that makes your pants loose"! I'm borrowing that And wtg on becoming more hourglass!! look forward to your w/i.

I just use whatever we have more of in the fridge. The half/half works better in the coffee.

I'm thinking VEGGIES are a key that I've overlooked ... low in calories, low in carbs! Salads, here I come!
I gain when I have salad . I had a great one yesterday and am up today. Sigh.

(I'll be honest, I am a nudge on edge cuz I haven't weighed tho! )
Not weighing!! I can't do it!! Hope you're pleased with the results!! You go girl!!

J4Christ-good to see you back on board!!

I'm in my new jeans today, enjoying my week of eating a bit more. But, I'm not very hungry!! I love ketosis and hHCG, but I'm trying to rest on the VLC this week, and am getting about 1200 in, but to be honest I could easily skip a meal. I think that's a good thing, but I want the scale to start moving again next week. TOM is leaving shortly and hoping to maintain this week and lose the last 4 lbs next week!! We'll see!!

Have a great day all!!
