I've been doing homeopathic on all my subsequent meals. BTW, it's not protocol, but I lose GREAT with tuna!. ![]() I combine one 5.5 oz can with 1 tsp mayo, 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, dill and onion powder, and serve on celery. Lately I've looked at my losses after cottage cheese days...and the total does not look good at all. So I'm giving that up for now. ![]() I also never do the melba nor fruit but instead eat higher amounts of protein and occasionally more fat. My high protein 'snacks' lately are 1 tablespoon greek yogurt (homemade) combined with 1 T protein powder. MMMM! Following the protocol as written left my bone-deep hungry. Not active growling hungry but kind of weak and extremely, extremely irritable. For me, the extra protein (I get 65-75 per day) has helped me. If I were larger or more active I'd aim for even more. So my version of 'protocol' is eat twice a day, high protein meats (or eggs), and 2-3 cups vegetables, some lemon, and make it at least 500 calories each day.

Not a good weigh in for me today. I am up 1.4 pounds. Now, I know that is not possible in one day, so.......will ride it all out. I did weigh between 160-165 for a few years (years ago) so can this be a "set point" they talk about? If so my next one would be 145-150 and then 130-135. Not even aiming for the last one LOL.
Glad to hear about the tuna, I forgot about making that. I can do that easily for lunch every day of the week. Y'all are doing so great!

Thanks everyone for your advice on low carb/low cal. I like to eat lots of veggies (I am a volume eater) with 5-6 oz of protein. But lots of veggies = more carbs. So I have been concentrating on calories more than carbs, but I justify it as those being good for me carbs! I don't do the fruit or melba either.
But I am missing low carb baking......I want to get a bit closer to my clothes fitting before allowing myself that guilty pleasure again! |

I've done this before and each time it would send me into a carb overload. That scale totally mess with my mind and my confidence

I'm a little, I really mean a lot, confused. Did everyone here do a first round according to protocol, and then go rogue???
Or is there anyone that started on the drops and did their own thing from the start??? |

OK, it's not that easy doing low cal AND low carb! Yipes. I mean, I cannot eat MORE veggies because I will get more CARBS and I can't eat MORE protein because it'll mean more CALORIES! Not sure if ****** is accurate but it says I ate close to 1,000 calories and 20 carbs today ... good with the carbs, horrid with the calories as this was supposed to be a LOW CAL DAY! Sheesh. I have felt hungry all day and it seems like I haven't eaten hardly anything!
Come on, juice, KICK IN!!!Deb and others who are trying it this way, what ARE you eating on days you're trying low cal AND low carb? Is it basically the original Dr. S plan but without the fruit and bread/crackers? Holy cow, the original plan is torture enough WITH the fruit, I can't imagine trying it even more strict! BLEH! ![]() I need to decide if I should up the carbs a notch or two instead of doing the Atkins Induction 20 carbs a day limit. I don't think I can do both low cal and low carb in the same day. It might be better to just do low carb and the juice and call it ok IF that turns out to be something that'll show steady losses, which remains to be seen! OR I could not worry about the carbs on the low cal days. Guess there are many ways to swing this thing! ![]() Petchie, how are you doing this? Details! I need details! HELP!

On my low cal days I do almost all chicken and some eggs. I will drink a lot of tea and water if I have hunger. I do not eat nuts or cheese on low cal days because I need the protein more than the calories to keep me satisfied. I was trying to do a low cal/low carb day today but it didn't work out. I had around 1000 calories and 20 carbs. I am almost out of drops so I am not too worried about 1000 calories at this point. I will attempt to do a low cal day tomorrow. Perhaps I will go to fit day and plan my day tomorrow to prevent going over 700 cals.

Marci, you got some great replies from Petchie and Jen.
![]() When I do my low cal days, I don't worry about the carbs. Mainly because you are not going to get enough calories that carbs will make any difference. Which is basically what P2 is. If you don't want the fruit or the bread then up the protein .. like the others said. I think it is very difficult to go both low cal/carb trying to keep it under 20. It can be done, but if your carbs are veges, I don't think it will matter much. One thing I did learn this week, is that just like when I am trying to lose weight, I have to follow a high day by a lower day, or I will not maintain either.... Up a pound since yesterday, when I did NOT have a low day.I had a day pretty much like Sunday, HIGH. Now since I am trying to maintain, I need to get the pound off. Today I eat a lower day. I am going for a low carb day, without a calorie limit, but within reason. I shall see how this works. EXPERIMENT continues... ![]() Everyone have a wonderful day!!...

wow...I hav'nt been here since last thursday.
Sounds like everyone is doing GREAT tho!!! I'm down to 172.4 this morning. Lost .4 from yesterday. I can smell the 160's!!! This morning I'm making a new soup at the bar. So the REBEL in me wil have to taste & tweek, taste & tweek, taste & tweek. I guess I don't do to bad, I just dip my spoon in and check the broth till I get what I want. It will start with a creamy potato soup and hopefully end up with a ranch flavored base. Bacon will of course be in there somewhere. Oh...and cheese. Someday....I will sit down and have a whole bowl. And hopefully it won't make me from the carbs. I love soup...the creamier, the cheesier, the BETTER!!!!Have a great day everyone!!! |

Marci,
That was the same issue that I was having. I figured out that I can't have it both ways (at least not just yet). All the forums that I read about LC said that folks were able to eat as much as they wanted. I put on 15 lbs. (it was a slow, sneaky gain!)thinking that I could eat like that since I eat A LOT. For years I maintained my weight eating fat free and lots of it. However, it wasn't much fun and it was hurting my health. That's when I decided to LC. I never did Atkins induction, just sort of "winged it", watching carbs. Obviously I didn't watch them close enough!! Now, I have pretty much been doing what Deb described. I need the volume of food that the veggies provide in order to feel full while keeping calories down. I still have cravings (had them on LC too) and hunger but if I stay busy it takes my mind off it and makes it more manageable. I hope to be able to decrease the drops to twice a day at some point. That may be my next experiment! I am fascinated with all of the different ways that everyone is tweaking this to work for them. |

GRUMPY! UP 1 pound today.
I normally don't have TOM gains 2 days in a row...but that has to be what it is. So I'm up 1.4 total from two days ago. I guess I shouldn't have used so much soy sauce in yesterday's supper either. I was thirsty all last night and woke up 3 times to pee. ![]() Oh well, I'm sure I'll have something positive to say tomorrow! And my supper was super delicious. ![]() |

Well, I dropped a pound and a half so today at 204! SO, for the time being I'm going to stick with 'about' 900-1,000 calories daily and 20 carbs and as long as this is working, NOT calorie cycle YET. Maybe I don't need to shake things up every other day? Maybe once a week or just the weekends or something else would work? Just thinking while I type here. Yeah, I'm gonna not worry about carbs if I do higher calorie days. I am hoping to ease up the carb counts a bit eventually too. Thanks for the input peeps!
Plowing on! |

Morning Rebels! ![]() PHEW! What a morning! I had to hold my 5 year old 40 lb DD extremely hard so the wind wouldn't blow her away! Boy is it BAD OUT THERE TODAY!!!! ![]() So I didn't weigh and don't plan on it til the end of the week. I'm afraid what I will see  Yesterday I ate as planned (my plan)....It was low low carb. I think the only carbs I had were from the BBQ sauce on the ribs but even then, it wasn't much cuz I dabbed most of it off Quote:

It was a beef lettuce wrap (cabbage in the cooked meat). I didn't think it tasted Asian enough so I added more soy sauce.
But I sure enjoyed eating it! And yes, I mixed my veggies... If I'd had some raw ginger, it would have been perfect. But I keep forgetting to buy that at the store...for months now. ![]() |

I am so not doing chicken this round...I am over dried out fatless chicken! Have always been a dark meat fan anyways. Here's the original recipe: Balsamic Chicken Wraps 3.5 ounces chicken 2 med green cabbage leaf 2 med Napa cabbage leaf 1 garlic clove 3 T. balsamic vinegar 1⁄4 t onion powder 1⁄4 T. sea salt 1⁄4 T. pepper 1 T. fresh ginger Mix together finely grated ginger, garlic, onion powder, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and chicken pieces. Cook until chicken is cooked thoroughly and then add the Napa cabbage and cook until cabbage is slightly cooked. Take the 2 green cabbage leaf and split the chicken mixture and place in cabbage leaf’s and roll into a wrap. |
