You're right. I shouldn't complain about a loss; I guess I was just hoping for those big first-day-back numbers.

My hubs tries to help out all he can (low self-esteem means low libido for me, so he's all about helping me boost my confidence). He even offers to eat away from me, but I feel even more deprived then because I miss out on "family supper time." I still sit at the dinner table with him and DD, and yes, it's very hard sometimes. On the bright side, he's preparing most of his and DD's dinners while I diet, so at least I get out of that chore, lol. And he tries to choose things that aren't my absolute favorites. When he eats something sweet, however, I definitely leave the room! Last night, I left the living room and got on the computer while he had some Halloween candy.
You will most likely have a nice woosh soon, there is no way you won't on so little cals Misty... hang in there!!..... Great hubby you have there too.. mine is the same way... all support all the time!...

We're pretty much on the same plan. I'll have enough injections to get me to next Thursday or Friday then on to P3 until my two load days on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. After that back to P2 and my beloved HCG (okay, now I sound like a crack head).

I have been really enjoying reading what doctors and clinics and such are doing with the hcg plan, how they've updated and revised it, how they are applying it with their patients/customers and the successes they're having. Really learning a lot!

Here are some points from the Omaha Med Spa. Not recommending anything, just wanted to put the information out there for anyone who may be interested. Just a different point of view.

"Over the past 2 years I have made many changes and enhancements to our diet program. I now call my diet – The OWL Diet -to distinguish it from the Original Hcg Diet that is used elsewhere. OWL stands for Omaha Weight Loss.

Why did I make these changes? Two overall reasons - Safety (keeping you healthy) and Efficacy (getting to your weight loss goal). I was not comfortable with the 500 calories per day on the Original Hcg Diet. The risk was too much acidosis from dieting – and side effects of headaches, dizziness, and low potassium levels. The OWL Diet allows 20-40% more calories per day – at 600-700 calories per day my patients feel better, have better hunger control, and are able to stay on the diet until they reach their weight loss goal. I also emphasize the need to spread those calories out over the day.

I call my calorie allowance of 600-700 calories per day the Low Calorie Diet (LCD for short). You will have enough energy to function at home and work, including mild levels of exercise. And you will still lose weight rapidly – an average of 15-20 pounds per month is shed on the OWL Diet. Although we do see some people lose 30 pounds in 30 days – this is not typical. It may occur in individuals who start at a higher weight (such as 300 pounds).

As you read about the changes I have made, you will see there are more food choices, and fewer rules.

Here are the Key Changes that make the OWL Diet better:

Food Choices and Frozen Foods – The original Hcg Diet was based on a very limited selection of food items that were commonly available in Italy in the 1950′s when Dr. Simeons was in practice. I have added additional food selections in all four categories of meats, vegetables,. fruits and beverages. We have also seen tremendous advancements in frozen foods, which can be safely incorporated into a modern protocol.

Sugar Substitutes – I permit the use of all sugar substitutes that are calorie free. Sugar substitutes are commonly used in soft drinks, iced teas and chewing gum. Use of these sugar-free products represents food behaviors that are often well established by participants before they ever start the OWL Diet. For the purposes of compliance with the OWL Diet, the use of sugar substitutes is permitted. I do point out that, in the long run, I feel we should limit our use of these products.

Caffeine – Caffeine is permitted on the OWL Diet and is often consumed in tea, coffee or soft drinks. My observation is that caffeine can increase, decrease or have no effect on appetite. It varies by the individual. Many participants on the OWL Diet were using caffeine beverages before I see them and do not want to give them up. As a means of helping them succeed on the OWL Diet, I permit the use of caffeine. Stopping caffeine and starting a LCD can trigger problems with headaches in the first week of the program.

Low Calorie Diet (LCD) – As mentioned, I allow a range of 600-700 calories per day. With the LCD modification, patients feel better, and have fewer effects from the acidosis of dieting and are therefore more likely to continue on the diet.

Hcg Immunity – Simeons believed that patients would develop immunity to Hcg. He advised the use of Hcg for only 6 days per week and required intervals of time to be off Hcg before restarting additional cycles. I do not believe that immunity exists for the vast majority of participants. With the OWL Diet, I advise participants to use Hcg daily for steady benefit and consistent results.

Continuous Monthly Cycles – Since we are not concerned about immunity and we now permit a higher intake of calories, I am able to offer monthly cycles of continuous Hcg use. We see an average monthly weight loss of 15 pounds for women and 20 pounds for men. Patients are safely permitted to continue monthly cycles “back to back” until they reach their weight loss goal. The momentum of successful weight loss is continued and patients learn to maintain lifelong behavioral changes towards healthier eating. This leads to permanent weight loss.

Vitamins and Supplements - The OWL Diet is, by its very nature, low in food sources of calcium and supplementation with calcium is needed for most participants. We also discuss the importance of B-Complex and Potassium. Some people also benefit from the addition of fiber, melatonin and B-12 shots.

Creams, Oils and Cosmetics – The use of body creams, oils, lotions and cosmetics do not, in my experience, interfere with weight loss on the OWL Diet. They are permitted and this change from the Simeons Protocol is greatly appreciated!

Menses – When women are menstruating, their hunger is frequently increased. I can find no logical explanation to withhold Hcg based on the menstrual cycle of women. Daily use of Hcg is encouraged, including during the menstrual period.

Fat is Fat - Dr. Simeons talked about “three kinds of fat”, and theorized that during dieting the body chooses certain fats to burn first. I do not follow that logic and my observation is that all fat stores are used as people are on the OWL program.

No Speculation about how Hcg works – Dr. Simeons had theories about how low dose Hcg works. Since they remain unproven theories, I do not speculate on the mode of action of Hcg. What is more important to me is our observation that Hcg does appear to help people lose weight on the OWL Diet.

No more Apple Days or Steak Days – I define a weight loss plateau as “no weight loss for a full two weeks despite complete adherence to the program”. Dr. Simeons attempted to break plateaus with either an “apple day” or a “steak day”. I have attempted to use these ideas with patients, and found them to be ineffective, misleading and counterintuitive. The best advice that I can offer is to “Stay committed and look at the total accumulated weight loss”. Plateaus cannot continue, due to the sheer arithmetic of following a LCD.

Salt Restriction – Dr. Simeons placed no restriction on the use of salt, but today we know better. The excessive use of salt carries definite health risks. In a healthy individual, I permit the use of salt. If you have hypertension, coronary artery disease or heart failure, salt use should be limited.

Constipation – Constipation is a common challenge that we face with a LCD despite the high fiber content of the vegetables and fruit that you will be consuming. Dr. Simeons did not intervene if patients only had a bowel movement every 3-4 days. My experience has been that constipation of 3-4 days duration leads to retained weight, bloating, fatigue and the risk of hemorrhoids. I prefer to advise the use of fiber to ensure a bowel pattern of once daily to every other day.

Massage – Massage is permitted, as there is no logical reason to withhold use of this very helpful service.

No More Phases – Dr. Simeons referred to “phases” during the original Hcg Diet. I have found this terminology to be confusing. The OWL Diet has 3 parts: fat loading, low-calorie diet and maintenance. "
Food for Thought. . . I like the fact of not taking breaks and continuing with the HCG until you reach your weigh loss goal. I just may experiment with that idea . . . however I may take at least one cheat day on Thanksgiving.

Can I come in?

I got the drops, my friend got the shots (I hate needles). I simply am a total grouch on 500 calories, so I am going a little higher.

I have LC'ed with success but with stress and a sedentary job, it just doesn't seem to work for me right. It is soooooo sloooowwwww....

I have the Natural Health Labs HCG drops 10 3X a day. Really enjoyed the load over Halloween, the kids won 3 cakes at a halloween carnival. ate some.

I am back at my pre-load weight. But I have one question. Is everyone eating the grapefruit/apple with each meal?

Wow so much happened here today. I was busy at work so no time to pop in.

Welcome to the new comers. Pull a chair and enjoy our rebel meetings.

I too love exercise. I have actually pulled back a bit on the exercise in the last couple of months because I am renovating but still played football up until last week. Now I think I will head to the pool until softball starts. I love lifting weights, doing wind sprints on the treadmill, walking outside. Love it all.

I ordered some more drops last night and had them shipped to a post box in the U.S. Hopefully they will come by Saturday so I can go and get them. I am on day four without drops and so far so good. Holding steady. I actually lost weight the other day but now stabilizing at my last dose weight.

Don't forget the "2 day effect". Sometimes, carbs (or wine!) take two days before they add their water weight to your body. On my second round, I GAINED 1 pound on VLCD2. But it all goes eventually!

I don't do any fruit...am prediabetic and hypoglycemic. But I think a lot of people do the fruit. It's up to you!

Wow, what a day yesterday. Began raining after I got to work, and I ended up not getting a lunch break...didn't want to run to the car for my food and be soaked. I was on my feet for 7 hours, and I guess it's good I didn't get my break because I *just* finished in time. If I hadn't, I'd be going out there today (but not for any extra money as it's contract work). So today I get to sit home and submit my report on the computer and play.

My weird menu yesterday:
P2 chili (couldn't finish one serving so I also ate....)
2 oz home roasted pumpkin seeds

Of course, weight's about the same as yesterday - up .2, but I expected that. I've got sore arms from holding the scanner gun and sore legs from walking all day, and let's not go into how much salt was in my pumpkin seeds.

To top it all off, our county was having computer problems when I arrived there at 9am yesterday morning to vote, so we had to give up and go back at 6:30 last night. Then I had to stand around for another 30 minutes on my very sore feet. I can say...my feet are SO much less sore than when I did this same job last January at 200 ? pounds. I've also noticed my feet are less fat? I didn't think they were fat in the first place, but they are looking a bit gaunt. I have hyperlineation of the feet and hands due to my inherited dry skin condition, (kids told me I had granny hands when I was 11), so they are looking ancient but skinny. I fit into an old pair of size 7 shoes at church on Sunday, and wore a size 14 dress! Think I'll go share that on the NSV thread.

Today I'm going to really work on eating right. For some reason the past few days I've had difficulty finishing my meals. I really believe I need to get the minimum 500 calories in for my health.

Everyone have an awesome day!

Paula, yes you should get at least the minimum of 500 to be healthy. Try breaking up your meals if you can maybe into three or four meals.

I am up a whopping 1.2 this morning. Still within my window but still a bummer. I think it is from the 8 large feta stuffed olives I ate last night and I had some very salty almonds. So today is an egg day for me to drop the weight. I also didn't sleep that well. Its 4 a.m. and I am up. I will be so done by the time this afternoon comes around. Right now I feel wide awake.

Hello everyone. I am happy to find this forum. I haven't read a whole lot yet, but I think I'm in the right place. I'm on my last day of hHCG drops for a 26 day round. I start P3 Saturday morning and I can hardly wait! I haven't made much progress, and have been hungry almost the entire time. I didn't have a lot I wanted to lose, I mostly wanted to get to around 120-125 and "lock that weight in." I've really only lost about 5 lbs. but I've been eating more like 800 cals. a day. So, now I want to manage P3 so I don't gain that weight back.

Meanwhile my husband has lost 50 lbs. and is doing GREAT! This was his second protocol and should be his last. He's hit his goal weight. He made it look so easy during his first protocol, I was seduced into doing it too. We've had VERY different experiences.

Anyway, thanks for having this place to come, learn, and stay motivated.

Yep, I suspected that 2 day effect, too, and that's what it was! I released 2.6 lbs. this morning, so I'm thrilled! Still have 1.8 to get back to R1P2LDW of 204.2. I hope to be around 195 by Thanksgiving. I have a few social outings between now and then that I hope don't trip me up too bad. This Friday will be a "cheat day" and then Saturday, my in-laws are coming down to spend the day with us, so it'll be tricky. If we go to a restaurant, I'll just try to make the best choice I can. Sunday, I'm right back on track fo' sho'!

Wow, I can feel your frustration! 800 calories a day and only 5 pounds in 3 weeks...then your husband drops weight like a rock star. Men and their flippin great metabolism...they make me sometimes!

All I can say is you are so awesome for sticking with it! Definitely lock in that loss during P3.

I haven't changed the way I'm eating, just the quantities are smaller.
It'll be interesting to see how we Point-er Sisters do when we weigh in! My WI is Saturday, and I have a feeling that it's gonna be a good one!
I think the hcg should take care of the days you can't get your points in. That's what I'm counting on. Then I can use the extra points on the days that I have an eating event going on (too many and I'm a sucker for eating events:blush Your lunch sounds great. I would love to get to the point where I could trust myself to eat what I want, just smaller portions I try to eat mostly 0 pt. stuff during the day and eat the rest of my points when I get home from work. It's just what works for me.

I dropped 1.6 last night and I'm soooo close to ONEderland! I'm leaving next Monday to go spend a week with my kids in Kansas, and I'd love to get there before I leave, but that may be asking too much.

I totally agree, every person and every body is different. It's not simple math, even though it seems like it should be. It's all about finding what works for your body.

Oops, back to work. Back soon!
Hi! It's good to see you here! I loved hearing about your journey in the other thread, you did so well, and you are so positive and excited! Can't wait to see what this journey brings you!

So many successes going on here. I have stayed the same since I started my experiment w/ WW/hhcg on Mon.but we'll see what happens. Watching everyone else's successes carefully because I've known to change things up easily when I see someone else doing well Have a great Wed. everyone!

Good Morning and New Rogues

I'm down 2 more pounds this morning, total of 5.4 in 2 full days. I am thrilled .

I read Dr. Abbott's 32 page information on his OWL and I love it. I will be following his modernized protocol...think it would work better for me and my body, plus I know I could do a full course on more cals + exercise.

Today's Eats:
B: Tea, honeycrisp apple, 1 liter of water
L: Chilli + broccoli, 1 liter of water
S: 1/2 bag of 100 cal popcorn (this is allowed on Dr. Abbotts OWL plan )
D: Scrambled eggs, tea

Resting from the gym today.

What are you all eating today???
