Dawn, can SB make a pumpkin spice latte with cream and no sweetener? I hope so 'cause that would be awesome for P3! I always order my iced coffee at McD's w/ cream and no sweeteners. Then I add my own vanilla stevia drops.

The pumpkin spice mix we use has sugar in it. Not good for P3. So sorry. I love Starbucks iced coffee!! I add my own sweetener and cream when I am at home. I think the McD's is cheaper and that is OK with me, because I can get mine for free.

Oh no, that makes me so sad. So do they add more sweetener, or is the only sugar what's in the mix?

Why do you use your own cream? Is there something wrong with SB cream?

Something else interesting to me and my OCD personality.... In the downloaded version I obtained from clicking on the link in the recipes sticky, the word "orange" is used once (as Deb said, when he mentions dietary errors and eating an "extra orange"), and that's it.

In the version I downloaded when I googled Pounds & Inches, the word orange can be found 4 times.
1. "4. An apple or an orange or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit"
2. "For instance having a breadstick and an apple for breakfast or an orange before going to bed, provided they are deducted from the regular meals."
3. "Some people do not realize that a tangerine is not an orange and that thicken breast does not mean the breast of any other fowl, nor does it mean a wing or drumstick." (and yes, it does say thicken and not chicken, lol)
4. "He is always surprised at being found out, because unless he has seen this himself he will not believe that a salted almond, a couple of potato chips, a glass of tomato juice or an extra orange will bring about a definite increase in his weight on the following day." <-----this is the line found in the sticky downloaded one...

Yeah, I have too much time on my hands tonight.

Wow, was doing good this morning, but really not feeling good tonight. Really hungry today, and have a headache setting in. Do you find this starts happening when you do a longer round, or am I just having an off day? Don't really want to move on to P3 since I'm still losing really well.

Misty - I do the same sorts of things! I have really loved seeing the various transcription errors I have found in some online pdfs. They can really be hilarious!

Thanks. No, my drops haven't come yet, even though today was the LATEST they were supposed to arrive based on the shipping estimates and the fact that I paid for expedited shipping. Grrr. I'm hoping they come tomorrow. If so, I'll load Monday and Tuesday and VLCD1 on Wednesday...

Ugh. So, I'm not too confident about my load today. Though I definitely got some fat in, it was probably too high carb. I've been frightened by the story of gaining 11 pounds on load!

B: Panera Egg Soufle
L: venti breve SF vanilla latte
Snacks throughout the morning and afternoon: 2 of those Panera Shortbread cookies (which are huge) and a granola bar
D: Olive Garden bowl of creamy soup, 1.5 breadsticks and about 1/3-1/2 of a portion of seafood alfredo.

I guess not a lot of food when you look at it, but now I wish I had been a little more careful with the carbs. Well, tomorrow is another day. I'm going to whip up this concoction of cream cheese, sour cream, cream and unflavored gelatin to eat throughout the day and I'm hoping to pick up a couple avocados and maybe another venti breve latte to pack in a little more fat. I've got some scallops that I want to finish before Sunday, so maybe that will be dinner with a little butter to dip. Tomorrow will definitely be a lot more low carb than today. I shopped and pretty much have all of my food for the next week. I got some chicken and shrimp, celery, cucumbers, radishes (think I heard about a good recipe for those) and apples. Also, another flavor of tea to help keep my mouth busy during the day. Oh, and a mandolin to make thin slices of cucumbers and apples. I think I'm going to skip the grissini and oranges for now.

Can someone help me with the timing of my dosages? Is it important that they be taken before each meal, or can they be more spread throughout the day? My first dosage was before breakfast, but my 2nd was later in the afternoon and my third was just now, about an hour after dinner. Hopefully it won't matter that it was spread out, but if anyone thinks it might make a big difference, I can have another load day on Sunday. Also, the drops have to be 15 minutes after and 15 minutes before anything to eat or drink, right? It's hard with so many different sources quoting things out there, and because the drops were not a part of the original protocol, there's no reference to them directly from Dr. Simeon himself.

I'm so glad to have you veterans around, plus so many people starting right around the same time! Here's to a great round!

Melissa

BTW, I was wondering if anyone else has kept going on this plan a secret from their loved ones? I'm not even telling my husband, because I know he hasn't done all the research I have done, and to the uneducated-in-hcg, this plan may cause alarm. He knows I'm dieting. He knows I have 3 weeks of a regimented plan, followed by a 3 week low-carb phase. He DOES NOT know about the hcg drops.

My husband knows, and is waiting to see how it works for me before he decides if he wants to try it or not. (Between you and me, I'm not sure he could be regimented enough to follow the plan, but we'll see.) My best friend also knows, but she's been sworn to secrecy. To someone who hasn't done the research, it comes off as a wacky starvation diet fad and I'd really just rather avoid any conversation about it with people who are not likely to listen with an open mind.

We're having a Biggest Loser competition at work, and I'm thinking that I'll have to bow out of it if my loses start become obnoxious like I'm hoping they will. I wouldn't know how to explain the big loses, plus it feels like I'll have an unfair advantage. I'm not sure what reason I'll give, especially when it becomes obvious that I'm still losing at a pretty good rate. Maybe I'll say that it's "medically assisted" and leave it at that.

Misty, I would think it would be tough to hide it from my DH since the foods you can eat are so restrictive. My DH was supportive, but cautious because of the low calories I was eating. He was pleased that I didn't lose my hair or get sick. Do you think your DH would make you stop? (hope not)

Today is my last P3 day. I'm up a pound today after a couple of glasses of wine last night and some indian food at lunch. It's all good, still in my range and TOM is still knocking on my door, but not 'here' yet. He was due yesterday. He came early while I was on HCG and now he is late. Men, unreliable.

I remember as girls in the dorms are cycles would converge. But what the heck? This is a forum we aren't sniffing phermones on the internet are we?

Who brought TOM to my house yesterday? He was due but he's not welcome! And he can take his .6 gain and leave my house! I'll tell him to stay away from all of you. But if he could tell Bernice to visit she's always welcome.

I should add that I did not tell my DH when I first started. Multiple reasons...but we have multiple problems. Now he knows everything I'm doing and is supportive. He's seen me maintain on lowcarb for 3 years, and is glad that I'm making progress with something. I know he's frustrated at how I can't even hear the word chips in P2 and how I don't want him describing food in P2 (he'll start describing foods and salivating - not good). But 3 weeks is only 3 weeks.

Misty You look more like my sister than any of my 3 sisters. You look a bit like me 15 years ago. Except for your hair which is so thick! Love it! Just had to comment. It's a bit eerie.

He might if he knew all the details... I'm hoping once he sees that I'm getting good results, he'll be supportive (but still in the dark about the drops part...I know that part will freak him out). He would definitely say this is a fad diet and that I should be able to do it on my own with diet and exercise. I probably could do it on my own with diet and exercise, but the results I see from doing that are SO SLOW that I lose my motivation/willpower/sanity very quickly.

Sorry that I haven't introduced myself as yet, but wanted to address this.

It's important to remember that Dr. Simeon lived in Europe. I have been living in Europe for the past 2+ years and European pastries, jams etc are not remotely as sweet as American products.

I once gave a French friend a banana bread recipe- she reduced the sugar by 2/3 and still said she would reduce it to even less the next time she baked it.

So when Simeons said pastry he was probably thinking along those lines.

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you all for being such an inspiration! I've been lurking for a while. I am on VLCD 14 and have lost 18lbs! This diet is the best thing ever!

I haven't figured out how to put my details in the profile as yet. I'm a SAHM to a 2 year old, so not much computer time.

Again, just wanted to thank all of you and let you know t that you are impacting so many people even if we don't post.

BTW- Starting weight was 187
This morning I weighed 168- Yipeee!

Copied from P3 update thread:

Today begins R1P3 Day 6. It's going well so far. My LDW was 135.8 and during this week my weight has ranged from 134.6-135.4.

I am increasing calories slowly and adding foods fairly slowly. I am currently up to 1200 calories/per day. I'm trying to increase by 100-200 calories every two days. So, today I'll try to get in 1300-1400 calories and see how I do (it's harder than it sounds to do and keep ratios in check). I'm really enjoying my food and I'm not so cold all the time. My energy is so much better!

One thing I have noticed and it's kind of hard for me to describe is that even though my weight has mostly stayed the same my middle feels/looks bigger. I don't look as thin through my middle (my biggest problem area, I'm an apple shape, short waist-ed, long legs for my height, and positively no butt at all). Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is even though I haven't gained, my middle looks like it has. Anyone else experience this? ETA: no potty issues, going just fine.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!!!!!

I say just stay in the competition! You aren't putting any drugs in your body. It is a weight loss competition. I am sure not everyone is staying on the same plan.

Good morning everyone!! I see many new faces to all of you and I hope for the best releases. Keep posting and asking questions! You'll love it here!

Misty-I started by telling DH that I would be going on a very strict plan for 21 days and when he asked how he could support me I said "just don't question what I'm eating or not eating (as in don't think turkey breast is okay if chicken breast is okay) and don't think that just a little off plan is okay. For 21 days we could both do this!" He agreed to this. LATER in the round when he wondered how I could eat so little I told him about the HCG (kinda nonchalantly like I had mentioned it before and he must have forgotten!) and he just said "oh, that explains it!" Sorry for the long story but it worked for me. I did this with some friends also.

So, I cycled back to P2 yesterday after 10 days on P3. And I'm a lb. up but still 2 lbs. from LDW. My question of the day is...I did a full P2 then 10 days P3, now P2 for 2 weeks. Do I consider this round 2 of P2 or just an extended round 1? I know it doesn't really matter but I want to put it in my siggy and don't want to confuse newbies (or myself)

Have a great Saturday!!!

Yes, my waist went up a 1/2 inch when I transitioned to P3. I think it's just having more to process? It went back down and even lower after a couple more weeks.

That's very similar to what I told my DH. I keep telling him not to ask me any questions. No "looks," no questions, no comments. I'm excited about this plan and I don't want anyone bringing me down or making me doubt my decision. He seems okay with that at this point.

Ohhh... good luck (rather God Bless) on your journey... I'll be starting on Monday on my 1-vlcd... I still have today and Sunday to load...

See you at the 1st finish line at the beginning of P3... I plan on doing at least 6-7 weeks on P2.. how many weeks are you going to do on P2?

You're doing great!!! 30lbs? I'm really excited for you!! I felt like that yesterday. Feeling a bit better today, but I know what you mean about wondering if your body has had enough. It's been 30 days for you? I'd go another 9 days for 10 more lbs! . I'm gonna' play it day by day.

Sorry your drops haven't arrived. I know how that feels, once you've done all the reading and are all shopped up, read up, and ready to go it's hard to wait for the drops!! Hand in there, you'll be melting soon!!

Melissa
I skipped the grissini and oranges too. I know it's not supposed to be a LC plan, but I don't need those or the calories, but others enjoy it. I do like the apples and strawberries. This is the right time of year for strawberries, yum!! I dose 6 times a day and try to space them 3 hours apart. There are some days I do very well, but others I forget and squeeze them in. It hasn't seemed to effect my losses. And your loading looks fine.

He knows I have 3 weeks of a regimented plan, followed by a 3 week low-carb phase. He DOES NOT know about the hcg drops.
I was reluctant to tell dh, but since I take the drops 6 times a day, and need to hold them under my tongue for 2 minutes, making me silent, it's too hard to hide. I think the VLC part is what causes my family alarm, more than the drops. The drops are a natural supplement (or that's how I present it), but the fact that I eat so differently from them concerns them. YMMV, but you'll do fine. You're ready to go!!

You've done great!! and at TOM. That will probably be the end to an extended round of P2, if I do extend it. I can't seen wasting all that time following VLC and not losing.

I haven't figured out how to put my details in the profile as yet. I'm a SAHM to a 2 year old, so not much computer time.

Thanks for posting!! We started around the same weight and are about the same weight now. Isn't this great? I'm loving the loss so much that I'm thinking about staying on VLC a few days more. We'll see.

You're doing great!!! Only 2 lbs? That's wonderful!! I know you're going to kick tail on this plan!!

I'm the same today, VLCD20-167 lbs. But I took a weight lifting class at the gym yesterday and am VERY sore today, so I know that I'm retaining water to repair some of that damage. Hopefully it's 3lbs worth of healing water in there . But, I feel a lot better today, so far, than I did yesterday. Not as dizzy or sick.

Hope you're all doing well!! Keep up the melting .
