Cauliflower I know it's not P2 Protocol but.. please help..

I'm having a really tough time this round. I used to be able to get frozen asparagus last year, but now it doesn't exist here in the UK. I'm so jealous of you guys with all your sugar free and store bought protocol friendly goodies! Ah, to have flavoured stevia and salad dressings and salsa and all the crazy stuff you guys get!

I say this because I'm hoping for a bit of sympathy. I KNOW cauliflower isn't on the list, but I rely on soups to get me thru and cabbage doesn't work for me and I can't cook to save my life, even if I had the time! I won't be able to carry on with just spinach and celery.

Has anyone tried cauliflower? Does anyone know if it's really really bad?

Thanks in advance guys!

Lola...Have you tried tesco's for the fresh asparagus, I have seen it there I have never tried it myself, but maybe you can buy it and freeze what you dont use. As for cauliflower I havent tried it on this plan, but it depends how strict you are with protocol if your willing to try it and see how your losses are.

How about making a batch of radishes in a crock pot, then freeze them for your meals? Lettuce wraps are a good option too. I'd try to find another protocol acceptable veggie that you might not have considered yet. For some reason when I started P2 I was really into asparagus and spinach. When I returned to P2 after my interruption, I've been using radishes, celery and lettuce as my primary veggies. If you do decide to use the cauliflower I would just pay close attention to see if it is impacting your losses. If it isn't, I'd go for it. I wouldn't recommend it but if it works for you, hey, who can argue wiht that? I think the problems with altering the plan come up when someone has posted their known "outside of the plan" foods and also want to get sympathy for not losing. You can't really have it both ways So, I'd just recognize that and go for it!
Happy releasing to you!

Sorry! I haven't tried cauliflower, but I highly recommend radishes. I never liked them raw, but when you boil them I think they taste a LOT like cauliflower. I would make soup with that in there, it's on protocol and safe.

I don't do the dressings, flavored stevia, or other products others try. I am keeping it simple and clean. I think when you mess around and make changes to the original list people stall and wonder why. You're better off being bored, but safe.

I eat a lot of salad with ACV/lemon and cucumbers. I even have a dill pickle or 2 with my "burger". That's a few ideas for you.

Hope that helps!

OMG you guys are fab!

I was really expecting to be shot down for asking about something off P2. And Hi, Tempted, I see someone from the UK and the dreaded Tescos.

I'm gonna try the radishes. I know there's fresh asparagus out there, but like I said, I'm a crap cook. The 2 times I used it, I still ended up with grit in my teeth!

I do love cucs, but now that it's getting cold, I find I'm really craving hot food, and I love cauliflower sooo much....

Oh well. I'll try and resist for now.

Thanks for your help!

Well, I ate cabbage, cukes and celery for my veggies for 3 weeks of P2. It mostly sucked, but its only 3 weeks! I eat anything I want now and the weight is staying off. Its so worth it!! Hang tough!!

If you enjoy asparagus so much (I do!) and decide to try fresh again, try this next time... snap the tough ends off, then swish a handful of stalks in a deep bowl of cool water really fast (with the tips pointing down) for about 30 seconds. Generally that will get all the grit out
