Who did well with Cottage Cheese and Eggs?

Hi! I'm new to the boards AND the HCG diet! I have been loading for 2 days and start my VLCD tomorrow. I have read all the info I could get my hands on, but I wanted real people to weight in on their experience using eggs and cottage cheese. I'm not a vegetarian, but I hate meat so I was really hoping to use them. How have you done with them? Also, GREAT board you have here! Tons and tons of info to got through!

Thank you, Jen ><>

I've had an egg day here and there and a cottage cheese shake here and there but no consistant usage to report results on. I wanted to you to the forums though and hopefully you'll get a reponse from someone that used the cc and eggs as their primary protein source

I haven't tried either yet, only on VLCD7 here. But many do the shakes with the cottage cheese, and several had posted they think they lost better using them. I'm planning to work that in some time this week. Likely for lunch the day I'm home to make it.

and good luck!

Thanks for the welcome gals!

I ended getting some eggs, cottage cheese, AND some chicken breast. I also got spinach, apples, lots of green tea, and a few other things. I'm looking forward to making new HCG friends!

I had the cottage cheese spinach shake just yesterday when I went in to work. I didn't lose an oz--I actually gained this morning!! So what worked so well last round, sucked this round!! I was going to try the eggs the other day because I have not yet in my 5 rounds tried it. But then I thought--what am I going to do with 3 yolks that I don't use??? So just skipped it! Good luck!! My protein sources have been all the meat proteins. Can you have the fish?

I'm with you SoCalGal, I don't like meat either. However, I wanted to stick with the protocol so I'm sucking it up.
I'm on day 7 of the VLCD. I've had the cottage cheese only once and the eggs 3 times on my menu. So far I've lost 13lbs, so I don't mind eating the meat so much!

Thanks for the tips everyone! I did get some chicken and turkey so I'm going to try that first. Maybe if I get really bored I'll try eggs, but I'll put it off! Thanks for the welcome!

Just an fyi....turkey is NOT on the list of foods that Dr Simeon's put out. I would hold off on the turkey til P3 if I were you! Can you do fish, shrimp or crabmeat? Those are my favorite proteins/meals in P2.

I've only just this round added cottage cheese to my diet but so far it seems an acceptable food for my body to lose on. We'll see in the long run but I've had good results with eggs (1 whole egg, 3 egg whites) and enjoy the occasional omelet. Yesterday I had a spinach and tomato omelet that was AWESOME and a wonderful change from normal! Gracie, another HCG veteran, has also reported good losses with CC but I guess it's a YMMV thing. Try it and see for yourself, and good luck!!

Cottage cheese is my main food source, about 1 - 1.5 pounds per day. I usually mix cottage cheese with chocolate protein powder, psyllium and blue berries for breakfast and dinner. Also, 1 or 2 whole eggs and 4 -5 egg whites per day. Works great for me.

Hey Lovecamping! Thanks for the reply! Do you eat 1.5 pounds of cottage cheese a day or do you lose that much? Do you use lowfat or regular? I am a big fan of the stuff! Good to know because I am not too into meat. I love hard boiled eggs ; )

I eat that much per day, low fat, I get it at Costco, much cheaper that supermarkets. I also love hard boiled eggs.

I had so many cheese cravings my first round that I'm including cottage cheese this round. It's really good with a T of cocoa powder tossed in. I feel pretty satisfied on it.

I know last round my best losses tended to come from seafood from what I could judge.

I had cottage cheese one day with chopped up tomatoes and cucumbers, garlic salt and pepper. It was a nice change from chicken and I still lost.

I already answered but just wanted to say that cottage cheese (with some unsweetened cocoa and a Splenda) has been my morning meal all this last week, and I've continued to lose well.

I'm on VLCD15 and have eaten fried eggs (1 whole and 3 whites) for at least a week of dinners. I'm losing steadily so they work for me.

I've had it 6 times this round so far, and love it! I don't know if I've lost faster/slower but it's eliminated my cheese cravings and kept me from any cheese cheating!

100 grams of what? I do 100g/3.5oz (alright, sometimes closer to 4.0g ) of cottage cheese but just go with what Dr. S talks about for eggs (3 whites, 1 whole) instead of weighing them.

Thanks Sassy-I meant cottage cheese. I'm thinking 100g would be safe.

Mthrgoos-thanks for asking I'm VERY excited for P3 tomorrow. I just set the automatic coffee maker for tomorrow morning's coffee, with CREAM!!! I'm planning my last VLC meal, likely cottage cheese at this point, and then going to bed early. Starting to get a little hungry this afternoon, but not too bad. How are you doing? This was your first round, right? I'm debating if I want to cycle back in for a week or so of P2 next week to try to lose about 5lbs more. I'm starting to worry if I'll be able to maintain in P3. I'm already gaining the past 2 days since I stopped dosing . We'll see, it's all a fun experiment at this point

Hi Julie, This was my first round. I'm not sure if I'm going to do a 2 week or 3 week P3. I'm already anxious to start losing again, but I'm also anxious to see if I can stabilize properly. Honestly, P3 scares the heck out of me, and I hadn't expected that. I know if I eat too much I will gain, but if I eat too little I may gain, so I'm really worried about finding that right balance. I don't want to regain, and I definitely want to be able to stabilize at this weight so I'm just hoping to be able to do it right. I'm excited to see how you do too! I'm glad we're entering P3 together. What are you planning to eat tomorrow?

I did two rounds and had cottage cheese blended with canned tomatoes and spices/Basil, a little stevia and vinegar to make a really yummy soup. I ate that about twice a week. I also had scrambled Egg Beaters with approved vegetables on weekends, with some tomato salsa on top instead of my fruit serving. Didn't seem to affect my losses, I hit my goal. However, cottage cheese has a LOT of salt so I didn't weigh myself until the second day after eating it. Didn't want to bum myself out if I was retaining water.

Are the recipes for the shakes located in the recipe thread? What about protein powder instead of meat occasionally? I like cottage cheese so that would be a good sub for chicken to break up the monotony. So are you subbing 1/2c. of cottage cheese for the meat at a meal?
