Not sure what to tell you. I am a massage therapist and I ended up massaging around 12 people during my first round and it did not effect me.

I did switch to massage gel instead of my usual oil and ended up liking it better so I'll keep it.

I only had my hands touching the gel...not my entire body and I washed them right afterwards so....still not sure what to tell you.

If I were you and I really needed it and it wasn't my first round I think I might take the chance and see what happens.

Good luck!

I'd take a chance too. I used a variety of things not approved and was fine. YMMV of course but if you really need one, I'd go for it. Are you concerned about the massaging or the ingredients in the lotions? both? if it's just the lotion, maybe take your own

I believe in P & I the good doctor said not to massage. In fact I remember reading where he had one patient that had a massage and looked like she was in a fight because she was black and blue. I myself have experienced easier bruising in my R1. I was moving and had to lift a few very heavy boxes and had enormous bruises. I say try it if you really need it but be conscious that you may not lose the next day and you may be bruised. (just my two cents).

Anyone know what causes the easy bruising?

I don't think it's "easy" bruising as much as the type of massage you get. Dr. S was talking about massages that were meant to "break up" the fat - really deep tissue kneading. Apparently from what I read it was a fad back then. Nowadays a topical massage or something light like a facial (minus the oils though!) should be fine, just nothing that puts too much strain on your body.

I got a massage and ate out on the same day and I was fine. I had a loss of 1 lb the next day! I took my own lotion, it was a gel. It worked great! I didn't have my normal deep tissue, but she still worked on the spots like she would. Imo, it was so worth it!!

Was the warning about massages only for P2? I've been wanting a massage myself and am a week into P3.

so, I'm like 10 days late on this, but... I've had massages in P3 and doing fine! I have a membership, so I get them like clockwork. I changed my oil to gel in P2, but didn't change anything in P3 and was fine!

wasn't easy bruising.... back in the 50s and 60s there was a fad of heavy massage for weight loss and i believe that was what Dr. S was talking about

my friend articshark had this to say about it and seems like good advice to me

The lymphatic ones and the ones called myofacial release ones are not deep at all. Just ask that it not be done with oils. Bring in your own lotion with no oils.

Swedish, deep tissue, sports, shiatsu, etc. are the deep deep ones. The do the lymphatic and myofacial ones on pregnant women. As you can imagine, they can't be deep or they would be having OBs calling and yelling at them. Lots of therapist do "pregnancy" type of massages.

These are particularly useful if you are very toxic.

Dr. S was talking about the massages where they beat you to death. We have all seen them in gangster movies where the boss is in an all male "club" and Bruno is beating them to death. Avoid these

The gel I used was Elta Parraffin massage gel. my mom orders it online I think. It doesn't have any smell and I couldn't tell much difference between it and the oil I usually use. good luck!

I get a massage every other week at my chiropractor. I take baby oil. I don't have any bruising. I had radiation on my neck and need the massage to keep my muscles supple in that area. Hope this helps. Debbie
