Very Lean Beef (avg 152 calories)
  • 93/7 Lean Ground Beef (3.5 oz) – 150 calories
  • Cube Steak (3.5 oz) – 160 calories
  • Sirloin Tip Side Steaks (3.5 oz) – 130 calories
  • Top Round Steak (3.5 oz) – 166 calories
  • Tri-Tip Steak (3.5 oz) – 154 calories

Did you use 93/7 groundbeef? There is a 65 calorie difference there so maybe you could make that change.

I have heard that depending on what site you use for your calorie counts y ou will get a different count. Another reason I never counted a calorie on P2!!! I started tracking this round just to see where my numbers get me. I am sometimes over and sometimes under. I know that as long as I eat what is on the list from Dr Simeons' then I am A-OK. Be careful and include your coffee and teas too!!! All that little stuff adds up!!

Go to the USDA site (it is down for maintenance right now, but should be up later). You need to be very specific as to cut of meat (they have a million choices) but I found that ****** was almost 65-75 calories higher than the USDA site when counting the meat calories.

1st day of VLC

Thank you for your response...

I am using grassfed beef. Much leaner than what most stores carry. So if I am using the USDA site, it would be 150 cal. That certainly makes me feel much, much better!!

Yeah, if you have the actual info from the store it really can make a big difference! I'm shocked at the variety of chicken breast calories

How's your day going? Welcome to the forum

edited to add that I see you have chicken breast on your menu too. Do you have that info. Your calories posted look very high. If anything I'd say you could've had twice as many strawberries and a full apple just by correcting your caloric intake on your proteins

I agree I think the chicken is much lower. I used my calculations from ******. Most chicken breast I see has closer to 123 calories for 3.5 ounces and the beef would be 150-160 cals. Your menu looks good. I would say you are under.

That's great!! Isn't it motivating to get off to such a great start!

After 2 days of VLCD, I was down over 5 pounds this morning from my preload weight, and 8 pounds from my load weight. That's motivating enough to keep me going!!

I bake it in my stoneware in the oven. I have Pampered Chef baker and deep dish stoneware pieces that when put together create a clay oven. Bakes everything really well and no need for any kind of water or spray. Just sprinkle on some seasonings and there you have it!

Hmm, I did see those the last time I went to a Pampered Chef Party. Can you use Mrs. Dash seasonings?

Grill meaning bbq pit right. That could work if I can get my dh to cook some in advance. I don't know if I could fry chicken in water.

My dd, found some shrimp rings and were okay with their taste so at least I know she has one thing to eat, she will eat steak, she is picky with chicken so I am hoping I can find a recipe that she likes. Getting prepared so I can help her out.

I personally don't use Mrs Dash, but have seen others using them. As long as the label has no oils, butters in them you are A-OK! I have a crab boil seasoning I use on everything. Mighty tasty and protocol friendly!

Thanks good suggestion! Since she loves boiled shrimp, crabs, crawfish maybe she will like chicken with the seasoning.

If you have a George Foreman that works well, I have a grill "broiler" on my stove I just use that it is quick and easy or you could bake it with spices in a casserole dish. In the pan I use spices on the chicken it always works out well.

Koo, I use a marinade (Walkingwoman has a great one) and I mix a bunch of that up. Then I cut up all my protein (I eat beef - really lean steak with all fat trimmed off - and chicken) into 3.5 oz. portions. That's the hard part. Once I eyeball it a few times getting it to be 3.5 oz exactly is easy. I marinade 4-5 days worth of pieces overnight, then grill them all at once on my Weber. Then at meal times I just grab a protein and warm it up. I'm OK with eating them cold, too. Sometimes I grab, eat, and go. This protocol takes a lot of my focus off food, so I have no problem just grabbing, eating and getting on with life.

This!! I have just eaten my first meal at 2:30PM for the day!!! And it was the P2 french onion soup, with an onion and ground beef. I am so full that I am not sure how I am going to fit in the rest of my foods today. I still have my melba/fruit from that lunchtime meal and a full 4 items for dinner. How will I fit it all in??? I never say that on any other plan
